00:00I was 11 or 12 years old when Obama was first elected president.
00:05I was 2 years old when President Obama won.
00:085.
00:09I was 5 years old.
00:10I was 4.
00:11I wasn't born yet when Obama was first elected.
00:17It was exciting.
00:18I remember that my whole family really wanted him to win, and then when we found out that
00:24he did, we were all really excited, and my mom cried and my grandma cried.
00:29I remember everybody talking about how, oh, the first black president, wow.
00:33It's like a new opportunity, only one more step for black people to get to being equal.
00:39I would say I'm proud of President Obama because he accomplished so many things.
00:45I think seeing a black family in the White House gave my family hope that people would
00:52see people that look like us in such a positive light, like being in the White House.
00:58They set slanders, they set trends, because now not only do black people have more power
01:04and feel like they can actually make a change, but it was the first, and it gives other people
01:10hope to maybe feel that as well.
01:13I was kind of upset.
01:14He couldn't be elected anymore.
01:17Everyone in my family really wanted Barack Obama to stay as president because he really
01:26let people follow their dreams.
01:27Now, because of him and what he did for our country and the black people, I feel like I
01:33have a better chance of becoming the first black Latina president.
01:36I would just say thank you.
01:38I would just want them to know they made a real difference and they truly impact the people's
01:46lives.
01:47I would want to thank them for setting the standard for the black people, the black youth,
01:51and everybody around America.
01:53It makes me feel like to the big world, I exist, you know?
01:58You can't work for the black people, they don't want to exist, you know?
