00:00really honor those men that led the way through weather like this probably you
00:06know 81 years ago which is a very rainy day snow on top and I tell you this is
00:12part of the reason why it was such a special climb because no one in their
00:16right mind thought that you could climb through weather like this on the side of
00:20Riva Ridge and that cliff face nearly 1600 feet it was considered unclimbable
00:26and they broke through a defense that was considered unbreakable and it's all part of
00:31the story and for those of us who get to wear this patch of the 10th mountain
00:36division it's very special so thank you for having us it is a great day to climb
00:45the glory fantastic and you know you you mentioned climb the glory that's our unit
00:49the 10th mountain divisions motto but we believe that climb the glory is not just
00:54motto it's a promise it's a promise to remember those who came before us and
00:59that's why we're here today

02:46from what it was on februari 18 1945 it was raining it was cold there were clouds there was fog out just
02:55like it is today and it makes this really come alive for you so i think this is pretty special that
03:00we had an opportunity to do this three days before the attack general hayes the division commander
03:08pulled everybody in he brought all the soldiers in who were selected for the assault force
