00:06Filipino tennis ace Alex Ayala also earned WTA ranking points and prized money following her campaign at the WTA Philippine Women's Open.
00:15Ayala's title bid came to an end in the quarterfinals after straight sets lost 6-4, 6-4 to Colombian opponent Camila Osorio on Thursday.
00:24Despite the defeat, the 20-year-old tennis phenomenon secured 27 WTA ranking points which are expected to help boost her position in the world rankings.
00:35Ayala also took home 3,450 US dollars or approximately 200,000 pesos following her top 8 finish in the tournament
00:44while she fell short of capturing a WTA title on home soil.
00:49Ayala remained confident that the competition played a key role in reintroducing world-class tennis to the Philippines.
00:57The Filipina netter is set to compete next at the Abu Dhabi Open which is scheduled to begin this February.
