00:10morning are we ready okay I'm ready too so it is time for action now there has
00:27never been a more critical time to stand united and ensure that those who have
00:34been exploited and abused are heard loud and clear I'm Lauren Hirsch I'm the
00:42national director of world without exploitation our national coalition to
00:47combat human trafficking and sexual exploitation for far too long survivors
00:55have been sidelined they have been silenced but that stops today the women

01:20demanding it our call to action is crystal clear one oh okay thank you glad
01:30that wasn't a rocket my head our call to action is crystal clear one release the
01:37files all of the files in the FBI's custody survivors and the public deserve the full
01:47truth to commit to a truth-seeking mission no political theater no partisan
01:57politics just the truth and three do not pardon Ghislaine Maxwell or grant her any
02:07special benefits she was convicted of unspeakable crimes justice cannot and must not
02:17be undone but today is not about Ghislaine Maxwell it's not about Jeffrey
02:25Epstein it's about these brave women
02:29so it feels fitting for me that our first speaker is Liz Stein four weeks ago our team
02:42team at world without exploitation sat down with Liz and truthfully she was a little frustrated she was
02:50feeling that everybody was talking about survivors but nobody was truly listening to survivors and we knew that
03:04needed to change so after listening to Liz we needed we knew we needed to create a space and send a clear
03:11message it is time to listen to the voices of survivors so here we are what Liz reminds us is that courage is contagious you will not see
03:26one woman walk up here alone she will walk up in solidarity with her survivor sisters and that is deliberate because this
03:36this movement is all about solidarity when one person steps forward we all have the courage to step forward
03:44all right let's do it Liz come on up here Liz is joined this morning with four of her sisters four women in our world we
03:56survivor training fellowship please welcome Gigi LJ Jessica and Terry there has never been a more urgent
04:04it has never been a more urgent moment thank you
04:06it has never been a more urgent moment thank you
04:16good morning my name is Gabrielle Prieto and it is an honor to welcome you here today to every survivor present
04:32to every survivor present and to every ally standing with us your courage your solidarity and your presence
04:39are powerful we also thank our partners world weed and the coalition for uniting this moment of hope and
04:46determination as we gather on the capitol hill today because survivors of epstein maxwell and countless
04:54others have said we want to be seen we want to be heard and we want to be safe
05:01this is not about politics this is about survivor lead a sister in this movement and a voice of resilience
05:11she stands not only for herself but for the countless others who have been silenced
05:17please join me in welcoming Liz Stein to the podium thank you
05:22good morning everyone oh wow welcome looking out into this crowd it's so hard to believe that this is
05:38all happening it was born out of frustration sitting around a kitchen table and look at us here today
05:44i i i'm really blown away with all of this support there is definitely power in numbers um today we're
05:53here to celebrate the great strength of my survivor sisters who are here in Washington and to all of
05:59you who came out today to stand with survivors my name is liz stein i am a speaker writer educator and
06:12activist in the anti-trafficking movement i am a world without exploitation stand fellow and i am also
06:21a survivor of galane maxwell and jeffrey epstein i met galane when i was a senior in college i was just 21
06:30years old maxwell introduced me to jeffrey epstein later on that day that evening was the sliding glass
06:40doors moment that changed the trajectory of my entire life i was once bright fun outgoing and kind
06:50i loved people and people genuinely enjoyed being around me
06:56but after meeting jeffrey epstein and galane maxwell it felt like someone shut off the lights to my soul
07:03instead of pursuing my dream of going to law school after graduation overcoming the terror and the trauma
07:14that was inflicted on me by these sex traffickers overcoming that became my decades-long full-time career
07:25as sisters we are initiate as survivors we're initiated into a sisterhood we're in a sorority that
07:36none of us asked to join but we all stand here today strong stronger together because our collective voice
07:44is powerful we stand together also to honor the beautiful souls who lost their lives in the pursuit
07:54of getting justice for at maxwell epstein's crimes
08:06this is not a partisan issue this is a crime the crime of sex trafficking and the criminals must be held accountable
08:15disbelieving survivors creates a culture of silence there is strength in numbers and our courage is
08:23contagious
08:27i want to humanize sex trafficking survivors for you all just for one moment
08:34we are not others we are your sisters your friends your colleagues we are in your community
08:44think about the women that you love and then think about them
08:49being the victim of sexual assault it's uncomfortable and it's hard to think about
08:56could you stand for their abuse i hope not this is a crime that by our justice department's own admission
09:06has a thousand victims a thousand victims do you know a thousand people think of the enormity of that
09:16could you be okay with a crime happening in your community to a thousand girls and young women
09:24and not holding the perpetrators accountable i think not
09:32the government's mishandling of this case has silenced our truth from the start
09:37nevertheless beginning with maria farmer in 1996 the survivors of this crime have been relentless in
09:44speaking out and seeking justice oftentimes at great risk to our own safety and well-being
09:51it is the voices of survivors i'm going to repeat that because it bears repeating
09:58it is the voices of survivors of these crimes that are important so we are here together
10:05together we are here together to stand united and i want to um uplift the words of someone who can't
10:18be with us today but who is has inspired us all in different ways so to quote the late virginia
10:28juffray mothers fathers sisters and brothers need to show that the battle lines are drawn and stand
10:39together to fight for the future of victims is protesting the answer i don't know but we've got to
10:47start somewhere and we are here today to start somewhere so if you are watching us from home if you're in
10:55the audience and you believe that you should stand with survivors show us your support hashtag
11:06stand with survivors thank you
11:21all right we're gonna just keep it moving um i'd now love to welcome to the stage sigrid mccauley annie farmer
11:34virginia's incredible family
11:40and theresa helm
11:51good morning we come together in the nation's capital at this watershed moment for survivors
12:07they're demanding justice they're demanding accountability and they're demanding action
12:15for far too long maxwell and epstein committed crimes throughout our country
12:21and our world and it's time to hold those that facilitated those crimes accountable we've heard a lot of
12:28words for many many far too many years it's time finally for action
12:37earlier this year many of you know that we lost a dear friend and a client of mine virginia juffray
12:44her wonderful family is with us here today i can tell you that she would have loved this moment
12:52it would have been so special for her to see all of you here today and i know she's with us
13:00and what she would want you to hear today is stay strong and keep fighting for justice
13:06thank you i'm going to take a moment to read from one of our fellow survivors who
13:15thank you was um too afraid to come here today her name is juliette bryant and she asked me to read
13:22this letter to you all i wish i could be here today unfortunately i'm too afraid to travel to america after
13:30everything that has happened i am however here in spirit like many other survivors such as virginia
13:38juffray and carolyn adriano i want to speak out for all victims of abuse especially those who can
13:45no longer speak those both alive and dead for years the truth about epstein has been covered up
13:53they say there's no epstein list speak to us it's time to dig deeper do the financial research
14:00it's clear that for years there has been a big cover-up we have all been lied to it's especially
14:08difficult for victims of epstein to move on when it's thrown in their face daily through the media
14:14without any closure the public has now become the victims of this as well we have all been badly hurt by
14:21this it's time for the truth to come out it's time to stand up for victims of all crimes it's time for
14:30the perpetrators to be held accountable thank you for being here and for standing by myself and other
14:35victims together we will make change there is strength in numbers and we will do it together from juliette bryant
14:43and now i'd like to introduce annie farmer
14:55good morning everyone thank you so much for being here today your support means more than you know
15:02my sister maria farmer was not able to attend and so i will read her remarks for her
15:06due to the debilitating effects of the last few years of cancer treatment i'm unable to be here
15:12today my sister annie farmer will speak for me she is a primary reason that i reported epstein
15:19maxwell and others to the fbi in 1996 after they assaulted us in two different locations and held me
15:28captive at wexner's estate while maxwell also stole photos that were my private art studies and twisted
15:38them into child sexual abuse materials harming my sisters and myself
15:46in 2006 the fbi demanded my testimony for a federal trial promising justice but failed again
15:53for 30 years i've fought not only sex traffickers but a federal government that has enabled them
16:00while that same government fully ignored teen safety and my mini foia report requests
16:09after three decades of failure i am suing them for answers
16:13virginia dufray's heroism speaking her truth her humility her bravery and love ended my 14 years of
16:26fear and silence she is the heart of this fight please take a moment of silence for her
16:32and i would just like to say um speaking for myself now how very much it means to see
16:46this show of solidarity today after feeling so isolated and alone for so many years with this fight
16:53it's incredible to see all of you standing here and to feel the support coming from elsewhere as well
16:59as a public since i've come out publicly in this case um i've received so many notes and messages
17:07from people who have been impacted by this story because of how much they relate to the struggles
17:15involved in this story unfortunately that's because so many people are affected by these crimes we have
17:20a huge widespread issue with child sexual abuse with sexual violence against women with abuse of power
17:28in all forms that leads to all forms of trafficking right and so i truly believe when you're facing
17:34problems this at this scale it requires this type of force of coming together creative solutions around
17:43not just the punishment of these very guilty perpetrators but also education so people know the signs
17:52and understand the signs and can recognize the things that i didn't recognize when i was being you know
17:59lured into this world so i am so grateful for organizations that do this work thank you for a world without
18:09exploitation for hosting this and for doing the very very important work of education and i just uh want to
18:16to thank all of you i think we all have a role to play in coming together to change these very
18:24challenging situations that we face and to solve these problems thank you
18:30hello everyone
18:46my name is sky roberts and i'm here today with my wife amanda roberts and my brother daniel wilson
18:52we are proud and heartbroken
19:04to be standing here before you
19:13as the family of virginia roberts dufray
19:17virginia is not only our sister she is a warrior a survivor
19:23and even though she is no longer with us in body
19:27her voice her courage
19:30and her fight live on through every one of us here today
19:34we want to stay start by saying thank you to the survivors
19:38who show unimaginable strength simply by standing here
19:42to world without exploitation who whose tireless work helps turn pain into purpose
19:48and to every person who refuses to stay silent even when the world makes it easier to look away
19:54it is an honor a true privilege to stand with you to support you and to help keep virginia's voice alive
20:02virginia fought fought for truth she fought to expose a system that allowed the wealthy
20:12the connected and the powerful to exploit and abuse girls and young women without consequence
20:19she fought for every survivor who was silenced doubted or discarded and she never backed down even when the world
20:28tried to break her
20:29today we rally not only in her memory but in solidarity with every survivor
20:38we are here to say we see you we believe you and we will not stop until justice is served
20:45because justice is not selective it does not and must not bend to money influence or titles
20:58we are here because every survivor deserves more than a headline they deserve more than a single conviction
21:04they deserve the full weight of the law behind them
21:08our demands are clear
21:09yelaine maxwell must remain in a maximum security prison for the rest of her life
21:18no leniency no deals no special treatment
21:24the epstein documents must be unsealed every name every detail
21:31no more secrets no more protection for those who preyed on the vulnerable
21:35and finally we demand full accountability
21:40from every enabler every accomplice every person in power who turned a blind eye
21:46the justice system was not designed to serve the powerful it was meant to protect the people
21:52and it's time it started doing just that
21:57this movement is just isn't just about the past it's about reshaping the future
22:01future a future where survivors are not shamed silenced or ignored but heard honored and empowered
22:10thank you thank you for standing here for fighting alongside us and for refusing to let this story end with
22:16injustice virginia's voice echoes in every one of us let's make sure the world keeps listening
22:22i want to end it with a quote from virginia and i'm going to hand it over to my wife amanda
22:34this is a quote um from virginia's journals
22:39i look forward to the days when money and power does not stop the truth from coming out and the righteous prevail
22:52and i work with the national center on sexual exploitation here and i work with the national
23:20national center on sexual exploitation here in washington dc very proudly
23:26and today i stand here as an expert of my lived experience at the hands of
23:33jeffrey epstein's co-conspirator gillen maxwell or as i first knew her as miss maxwell
23:42i was systematically recruited trafficked across this great nation groomed and assaulted
23:56gillen it was your butler that greeted me at the front door of your beautiful home
24:01and it was your calm manipulative and fraudulent demeanor that cultivated my trust
24:13that coercive system that you have mastered was entirely end game oriented
24:21and that end game was to feed the perversion of you and jeffrey through sexual violence
24:33it was you who sent me off to the home of a monster knowing what was waiting for me
24:40gillen maxwell you are the system
24:54and now you are but a part of another system
25:10one that you've earned through your very own
25:21your very own choices and actions a prison system where you deserve to live for every moment of your 20
25:32year sentence
25:35and that alone is not enough systems require support there are others that are complicit
25:44that have caused harm to women and children that have benefited from that harm
25:52and as it stands in this moment have enjoyed impunity and dodged accountability
25:58we've heard her voice now hear ours loud and clear systems built with a root of corruption violence and
26:11deceit always crumble that time is coming your pseudo power has diminished
26:20it is our time and the power of justice of common sense it's our system now
26:32this is a call to action now is the time to sift through and get rid of the perpetrators and bad actors
26:42this imminent shift is how our country operates it's how we will secure this nation's future
26:53and the world is watching
26:57and before i step away i wanted to add one quick thought
27:00let's stop calling it an epstein client list
27:08and let's call it what it actually is it's epstein's sex buyer list
27:17thank you
27:17i'm so proud and honored to be here today my name is lisa phillips and i'm the host of award-winning
27:31podcast from now on where i interview survivors in the year 2000 i was taken to jeffrey epstein's island
27:40while on a photo shoot in the caribbean who i saw
27:43and what i experienced there would change me forever
27:53for months i had to avoid jeffrey but he told me that if i wanted to succeed as a ford model
28:00he could make it happen and he was right he introduced me to katie ford
28:06and many others in the entertainment business
28:08his grip on the modeling business was undeniable not just the ford family but vittorio's secret
28:16faith kates jean-luc brunel vittorio's secret epstein's reach went to the very top of fashion
28:25he could make a model's career what i didn't realize then was that once he lured someone like me in
28:32he could also destroy my career if i did not do what he wanted me to do in new york city countless
28:39young women were abused by him everyone in the industry knew yet he was too powerful to stop
28:49he had friends and all over entertainment and arts and his value to those friends made him
28:54untouchable but i ask you why who was he to our government that he was allowed to operate openly
29:03for decades why was he allowed to sponsor visas for young models using their immigration status as
29:10leverage to abuse them and silence them epstein was not just a serial predator he was an international
29:19human trafficker and many around him knew this many participated and many profited and yet he was
29:29protected i know what it's like to be trafficked to others i know that the files contain the names of
29:36powerful men who have been shielded because of their fame or their fortune so i stand here today not
29:44just for myself but for every woman who has been sounds exploited and dismissed
29:54thank you and we are not asking for pity we are demanding accountability
30:05congress must choose will you continue to protect predators or will you finally protect survivors
30:11transparency is justice release the files and the secrecy and stand with us in declaring that no one
30:20no billionaires no politicians not world leaders is above the law
30:32and let me announce now several of us epstein survivors have been discussing creating our own list of names
30:41we know the names
30:49many of us were abused by them
30:52now together as survivors we will confidentially compile the names we all know we're regularly
30:58in the epstein world and it will be done by survivors and for survivors
31:03no one else is involved stay tuned for more details on that
31:12because history is watching and so are the women who will come after us thank you
31:18thank you
31:31if that's not bravery i do not know what is
31:37okay we're bringing up another group of women ashley danny jess haley and wendy come on up
31:45we're going to thank you
31:48thank you
31:50you can kick us off
31:55you can
31:59okay well this will be fun
32:04so my name is ashley rubright um and i am a survivor of jeffrey epstein and galene maxwell
32:10some things i want to say i to any survivors out there who feel like they don't matter
32:18it it doesn't matter if you went once or countless times we were groomed we were manipulated and we
32:26were taken advantage of for decades survivors have been suffocated by speculation we've been mocked
32:33we've been doubted we've been re-traumatized while those that hide in secret while those responsible hide in secrecy
32:41why don't we deserve justice
32:44this is not partisan however this is very political
32:50as the only path to justice is through our political system
32:54and this is about justice this is about accountability
32:58this is about protecting the innocence of our children and honoring the dignity of survivors
33:04everywhere we turn the story follows us it's in headlines jokes music
33:10grocery store checkout lines random conversations that you hear people having in restaurants
33:17for more than 20 years we've been unable to escape it and every time new promises are made our sparks of hope
33:24are lit only to be extinguished again we are tired however we are not going away
33:38we will not stop or give up and we will be on the front lines of this battle
33:45we are no longer scared and let's be clear there were so many enabling adults those enablers actively
33:58turned a blind eye and they are the greatest danger yes
34:05and you know who you are as do we you allowed us to be abused for a fat check
34:11and a cushy life which you still have and to those in power hear us clearly do your job
34:21release what needs to be released yes and hold those responsible accountable
34:31survivors sorry thank you
34:35survivors deserve peace survivors deserve truth survivors deserve justice
34:45and to my fellow survivors your voice matters your story matters and you matter
34:52together we are louder than the silence together we will not stop until justice is done
35:05we will not stop until justice we will not stop and we will not stop and we will not stop
35:12good afternoon um wow a lot of people showed out for us today i wasn't expecting all this support
35:21what an incredible feeling and thank you for everybody for being here i'm going to try to make this
35:26as quick so the other girls don't have to be crunching for time
35:30my name is haley robson i came out in 2019 on the documentary filthy rich i have been very focused
35:39on bringing more awareness to all of the survivors i am so proud to stand with them i am so proud to be
35:45up here to support them because they deserve all the love and support and i just want to say to the women
35:51who chose this moment to come out for the very first time about your abuse i cannot think of a more
35:58important greater purpose in life than to stand in solidarity when time is against us when the
36:05politicians have made us an enemy when the world is watching and everybody is hoping for some type of
36:11result thank you for choosing this moment for the first time to be so brave to come out and stand in
36:20solidarity i prayed for a moment i prayed for this moment where god would would fill us with reinforcements
36:30i want to acknowledge all the women unfortunately that couldn't be here today because i think that is the
36:36only list of real great importance and we should never forget the voices that were not only silenced
36:42but that are not here today and we should never forget the sacrifices that they made
36:46so today i would like to take a moment for virginia sky danielle and carolyn their voices were just as
36:57powerful and they were silenced just as much and for some reason i can feel their spirit especially
37:04virginia's today she would be so proud and she would be so beside herself to see this one moment we have
37:11all came together to unite and for our government and for the politicians who have taken our trauma
37:18and have weaponized it against us making it unbearable making it unlivable making it hard to move on in
37:24a life that we wish to live in happiness and joy and peace and injustice that can only come from within
37:30at this point and we have gotten to this point shame on you shame on you for using our trauma to weaponize
37:39this moment we are not going to be fooled by your trickery we are not going to be fooled by the lies
37:46by the conspiracy theories we are the keys to this situation we have the truth and the fbi knows the truth
37:56the government knows the truth you may pull this the wool over the sheep's eyes but we are the keys we
38:03we know who was involved we know the game we know the players and we are sitting here for 20 years
38:10waiting for you to get up and do something well guess what your time is up and now we're doing it
38:17how do you follow that hello everybody my name is wendy passante and i was abused by jeffrey epstein
38:35when i was 14 years old i'm not here to relive what happened i'm here to be counted and to make sure
38:42others are counted too i once believed my silence was strength hold it together don't draw attention
38:52today i know that strength sounds like my voice it sounds like everybody's voice is up here
39:01silence only protects predators not children people ask what about the victims we're here
39:08we're here today we're here today and there's more of us i stand with many who are still finding
39:15their words i live in a world where being understood is a struggle where people in power would rather
39:22sweep us under the rug in hopes that we'll go away we won't um being a survivor is not a headline
39:33it's our life yeah we have to live it it's panic in a grocery store it's smiling at work while my hands
39:39tremble it's waking up at 3 a.m with my heart racing and not knowing why it's living with ptsd anxiety and
39:47depression and your nervous system's on guard at all times even in the safe safest room around the safest
39:53people healing isn't tidy it's therapy it's wait lists it's trying a medication
40:03and trying again over and over for years it's setting boundaries with some people who won't
40:09understand survival isn't weakness it's wisdom we've earned if you are a survivor hearing me
40:17your voice is never too late too much or too little if all you could do was show up today you're already
40:23trying to make a difference yeah you you do not owe anyone your story you are owed safety care and
40:32belief your breath is proof that harm does not get the last word i'm not asking anyone to take a
40:40political side i really don't even follow a lot of political politics i'm asking you to take a stand in
40:48solidarity protect the vulnerable not the powerful protect children and survivors not titles and reputations
40:58right our silence doesn't keep us safe and i hope today's courage from all of us ladies can help
41:08someone else be safer tomorrow we are here and we refuse to be erased so thank you guys for
41:20listening to all of us and being here today
41:25come on girlfriend you got this beautiful
41:29yes can i give you this guy can i give somebody the sign is that okay
41:38hello everybody thank you for being here thank you as i stand here today
41:44and look around i want to acknowledge what it feels like to be in the presence of these incredibly
41:53brave powerful women that i stand up here with i am so empowered by each and every one of your fortitude
42:03and i am following in the brave footsteps of those that came before me while we each have our own stories
42:09and walk down different paths of life we are bonded together as survivors when i look into these
42:15beautiful faces i am reminded that we all started our journeys with big hopes and dreams jeffrey epstein
42:26and his co-conspirator gillan maxwell stole and systematically destroyed those dreams we are a mosaic
42:35of shattered hopes and dreams at their hands as an aspiring dancer the manipulation came in forms
42:42of offering me dance studio space discussing opportunities to meet with ballet masters and
42:47aiding a very ill family member of mine none of which would ever come to pass instead i was left in a
42:54cycle of abuse that wore me down and broke me when it happened i would have to completely disassociate
43:04similar to a coma my brain would need to protect itself so i would retreat and choreographing in my
43:10own head to escape the cruel acts that were being carried out on my body after i would go to the studio
43:15bundled in giant baggy clothing i remember standing there staring in the mirror as if it were an empty void
43:24i was past the point of tears there was nothing left i was a hollow shell of myself i could no longer
43:31watch my body move let alone dance he had taken something sacred from me two decades later i am
43:39still experiencing lingering effects of what happened to me as a teenager i am just one story in the mosaic
43:47of women taking back their power by confronting the horrific truths of their pasts due to jeffrey epstein
43:55and gillian maxwell we stand here today in the nation's capital for no other reason than to say
44:02that women's voices will not be marginalized
44:08we stand together as a mosaic of stories but we're also finding our way back to ourselves
44:14we are reclaiming the fragmented shards of the hopes and dreams of our past to fate to paint a better
44:21future for the next generation of women this story has come to washington to be told
44:28we will be heard thank you
44:30my name is jess michaels and i'm a 1991 jeffrey epstein survivor
44:4927 years for 27 years i thought i was the only one that jeffrey epstein raped
44:56i believed i was alone and i was kept silent by the shame that was inside me and by the fear
45:04outside in the world but i wasn't the only one none of us were and what once kept us silent
45:13now fuels that fire and the power of our voices we are not the footnotes in some infamous predator's
45:23tabloid article we are the experts and the subjects of this story yes we are the proof that fear did not
45:34break us and we don't we don't just speak for ourselves but for every survivor whose story
45:41is still unspoken yes for those not with us today for virginia
45:47who's courage lit the path and opened the door for us to walk through this is what power looks like
45:57survivors united voices joined refusing to be dismissed
46:04know this justice and accountability are not favors from the powerful yes they are obligations decades
46:13overdue this moment began with epstein's crimes but it's going to be remembered for survivors demanding
46:22justice demanding truth demanding accountability and we will not stop until survivor voices shape justice
46:33transform culture and define the future
46:40we are no longer whispers we are one powerful voice too loud to ignore and we will never be silenced again
46:50thank you
47:09thank you
47:12Okay, we're in the homestretch.
47:27We are going to bring up Eric Faduli, who is a lawyer.
47:34Sometimes survivors are ready to be seen.
47:37They're not ready to be heard.
47:38And so we would love to bring you up because you represent so many survivors
47:43who are so critical to this story.
47:52Good morning, everyone.
47:57My name is Eric Faduli, and I've had the privilege of representing up to 11 survivors of Jeffrey Epstein,
48:05and one of them is standing next to me here today.
48:09This is Rosa.
48:13You may not realize this, but what I just did is the first time anyone has ever said Rosa's name publicly
48:23as being attached and being abused by Jeffrey Epstein.
48:27And this is also the first time she has ever appeared publicly as a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein.
48:41And I say that because it was last night that she flew into Washington, D.C.,
48:48inspired by the solidarity of all of you, by the compassion of all of you,
48:53and by the courage of all of you to be here today.
49:03And I'm so proud of Rosa, and I'm so proud of all of you.
49:06But the truth is, Rosa shouldn't be here today.
49:11Rosa shouldn't have to be here today, and I'm going to tell you why.
49:14Because Rosa was trafficked from Uzbekistan under the guise of a modeling contract in 2009.
49:24That means that Rosa wouldn't be here today if Alex Acosta had it had Jeffrey Epstein in his grasp,
49:32had what every single law enforcement officer dreams of, to stop a predator in his tracks.
49:40And what did he do?
49:42He gave him a slap on the wrist and let him to continue to abuse.
49:46And had he not, FC never would have met Rosa, and Rosa would not have to be here today.
49:52But none of you should have to be here today.
49:56None of you should have to be there today because if when Jeffrey Epstein was finally arrested in 2016
50:01and under federal custody, he wouldn't have been allowed to take his own life
50:06and avoid the accountability and justice you all deserve.
50:10And none of you should be here today because Ghislaine Maxwell should not have been given a platform
50:16to deny the crimes against her, who was convicted...
50:21Who was convicted of trafficking and tricking 14-year-old girls.
50:29She should not have been given a platform and she should not have been rewarded after that platform
50:35in a minimum security resort.
50:42And none of you should have to be here today because they should just release the files.
50:48No more slow rolling, no more meetings, no more strategy, no more interviews behind closed doors.
50:54Release the files and give you all, and Rosa, the accountability, the exposure,
51:01and most importantly, the closure you all deserve.
51:16Our last speaker this morning is no stranger to the plight of survivors.
51:21And so with that, I'd love to welcome Gloria Allred to wrap us up here.
51:36Give a big round of applause to all the survivors and all the victims and all the supporters today.
51:43I commend you, and it matters that you're here.
51:48Let me just say, your voice is important, but power only recognizes power.
51:58And for many years, we have not exercised our power in a way that helped win change.
52:08And you all, and we all, have been betrayed.
52:13I represent Alicia Arden and 26 other brave survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and some of Ghislaine Maxwell.
52:21And in 1997, my client Alicia Arden went to the police in Santa Monica and said that she had been the victim of sexually inappropriate conduct by Jeffrey Epstein
52:35when he invited her to be auditioning for Victoria's Secret Catalog.
52:42And she went to the police, and they said, why don't you think about it before you file a police report?
52:50She thought about it and came back the following week and filed the first documented police report against Jeffrey Epstein in 1997.
52:59And you all were betrayed because there was no prosecution.
53:04Believe women!
53:05Let's hear it!
53:06Believe women!
53:07Believe women!
53:08Believe women!
53:09Believe women!
53:10Believe women!
53:11And then the victims and all of us were betrayed.
53:16When?
53:17In Florida.
53:18Mr. Acosta made that deal.
53:21U.S. Attorney is for the Southern District of Florida.
53:24Made that deal that instead of 60 felony counts that could have been filed by the United States Attorney,
53:33two counts were filed by the State Attorney.
53:37And Jeffrey Epstein, without having a trial, was able to go to his office every day as part of the sentence
53:47and just sleep in the jail at night for 13 months.
53:50Is that justice?
53:51No!
53:52You were betrayed.
53:54Betrayed!
53:56And then, of course, there was New York.
53:59New York, where Jeffrey Epstein was brought in, arrested.
54:03I saw him at the last hearing in federal court.
54:06And so many victims and so many survivors thought, at last, there's justice.
54:12But instead of justice, there was a dead body, the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
54:19And questions are still being asked.
54:21Was it suicide?
54:22Was it homicide?
54:23But the victims never got to testify at trial and confront that sexual predator.
54:30Was that justice?
54:31No!
54:32This is, we're overdue for justice.
54:36We're not going to be waiting for justice.
54:39We are fighting for justice!
54:44And let me tell you, no more talk of the word pedophiles, which only means a man who is attracted to children.
54:53We're not talking about pedophiles.
54:56We're talking about sexual predators and child molesters.
55:00Let's get the word in about what the crime was that they committed.
55:05Do you agree?
55:06And finally, let me just say, these predators took advantage of vulnerable children, of vulnerable adults.
55:18And we know how vulnerable women can be.
55:21And they abused their power.
55:23And they abused their trust.
55:25And it's time to meet power with power.
55:28There are three stages of evolution.
55:31The first is victim.
55:32The second is survivor.
55:34And the third is fighter for change.
55:37Are you going to be fighters for change?
55:40Not just today, but every day.
55:44Not just in politics and Congress, but in lawsuits, in speaking to people, your coworkers, your children, your mothers.
55:55Help them, support them to stand up to win justice.
56:00Because nobody has ever given women and children any rights.
56:04We've always had to fight to win them.
56:06We've had to fight to keep them.
56:08Will you fight that fight?
56:10Yes!
56:11And I leave you with this.
56:14One of my favorite sayings.
56:16Pray for the dead.
56:18That's for Virginia Roberts and all those who didn't make it here today.
56:21Pray for the dead.
56:23But fight like hell for the living!
56:26Keep up the fight!
56:29Let me hear it.
56:30Keep up the fight!
56:32Keep up the fight!
56:33Keep up the fight!
56:34Keep up the fight!
56:35Keep up the fight!
56:36Keep up the fight!
56:37Thank you very much.
56:39Thank you, Gloria.
56:48Thank you, everybody, for coming.
56:51One last unbelievable rallying cheer for all the survivors here.
56:56What do we want?
56:58When do we want it?
57:01Now!
57:02Okay, everybody, there's the press conference starting in a few minutes.
57:05Do you want to just go on over?
57:08And we'll meet you over there.
57:10Whoever wants to.
57:11Otherwise, stay here.
57:12We have this space for a while longer.
57:14Thank you so much.
