2026-27 के बजट में वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने देश में 7 नए हाई-स्पीड रेल कॉरिडोर विकसित करने की घोषणा की है, जिसका उद्देश्य यात्रा का समय कम करना, कनेक्टिविटी बढ़ाना और आर्थिक विकास को गति देना है। ये कॉरिडोर प्रमुख शहरों जैसे दिल्ली-वाराणसी, वाराणसी-सिलीगुड़ी, मुंबई-पुणे, पुणे-हैदराबाद, हैदराबाद-बेंगलुरु, हैदराबाद-चेन्नई और चेन्नई-बेंगलुरु को जोड़ेंगे। परियोजना विशेष रूप से टियर-2 और टियर-3 शहरों पर केंद्रित है, जिससे क्षेत्रीय कनेक्टिविटी मजबूत होगी। इसके अलावा, वाराणसी और पटना में जहाज मरम्मत सुविधाओं की स्थापना और बुनियादी ढांचे के आधुनिकीकरण पर भी जोर दिया गया है।

In the 2026-27 budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced seven new high-speed rail corridors to reduce travel time, boost connectivity, and drive economic growth. Connecting major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and tier-2/3 cities, the plan also focuses on ship repair facilities and infrastructure modernization in Varanasi and Patna.
