00:00I know what happens in the Oval Office, and that's what scares me.
00:06I come at this from a very unique perspective.
00:10Not just having been a journalist, but also having worked for two different presidents.
00:15Hey folks, X-Y-L.
00:18Pete was with the president all the time.
00:21Unlike his predecessor, Mr. Trump does not allow his staff photographer
00:26to capture photographs of life and work inside the White House.
00:31If you just stacked up the images of the Obama presidency and the Trump presidency,
00:35you would see the two stories of America in the starkest possible contrast.
00:41The job of the chief official White House photographer is to make authentic photographs.
00:49Photographs break down the idea that these people are somehow different from us.
00:53I've got an idea for another picture.
00:56Didn't get that piece? Yeah.
00:58The first time that we went to the U.N., he and Reggie Love played basketball.
01:02At one point, President Obama blocks Reggie's shot, and he goes,
01:05Did you get that block?
01:07When the history has been written...
01:09When Barack Obama was elected,
01:11I could see what he meant to the African-American community.
01:15This five-year-old kid asked Obama,
01:17Is my haircut just like yours?
01:19President Obama bent over and let that kid touch his head with his hand.
01:22That image stands for how kids will see themselves differently forever.
01:28I thought, who is this man?
01:31How does he deal with crisis?
01:32Leadership, character, and empathy.
01:37Don't you wish we had that now?
01:39When I first met Pete, his politics were not at all evident.
01:42Pete changed.
01:43He could no longer be this fly on the wall.
01:46The future!
01:47Pete Sousa is getting attention online with replies to President Trump's tweets.
01:52I had to speak out.
01:54I knew how the job should be done.
01:56Pete felt the urgency to show what the office can be.
02:00This was a 9-1-1.
02:03Reagan and Obama respected the dignity of the office.
02:09The presidency is a serious job.
02:12And I was going to do everything I could to make sure people didn't forget that.
02:20Do you have a picture for every single thing that Donald Trump has lied about with Barack Obama?
02:25Pretty much.
