00:00Shut it down!
00:02Protesters marched through Washington, D.C., on Friday,
00:06demanding accountability for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE,
00:12and calling for the agency to be defunded or abolished.
00:16One speaker at the rally accused ICE of targeting immigrant communities
00:20and urged lawmakers to act.
00:22ICE and a litany of other forces have been unleashed as racist and inhumane weapons
00:28against our communities.
00:30We have seen our neighbors kidnapped off the streets,
00:34dragged out of their cars, out of their homes, out of their schools.
00:38Earlier this month in Minneapolis, ICE agents shot and killed Renee Good in her car
00:44and just two weeks later executed Alex Preddy on the street
00:48for standing up to their brutality and intimidation. Shame!
00:52Shame!
00:53Shut it down!
00:55Protesters also called on Congress to intervene
00:58and encouraged voters to push for change in the 2026 elections
01:02as police maintained a visible presence around the gathering.
01:06Calm down with deportation!
01:08I would like all funding for ICE to stop.
01:11There was recently just a vote on it
01:13and there were even some Democrats that voted to fund ICE
01:17and I think they should be abolished.
01:19I think that Congress needs to take action, especially Democratic senators and representatives
01:26and I think that they need to rise up.
01:29And I also think we need to vote in 2026 so we can get a new government.
01:35Under a national immigration crackdown, President Donald Trump has sent 3,000 federal officers
01:41to the Minneapolis area who are patrolling the streets in tactical gear,
01:45a force five times the size of the Minneapolis Police Department.
01:49The fatal shootings by federal agents of citizens Alex Preddy on Saturday
01:54and Renee Good on January 7th in Minneapolis during the Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation
02:00have stoked public outrage and fueled calls for more protests.
02:04I want more protests!
