00:00From the truth behind the identity of an original trilogy character to one
00:05Disney are obsessed with one particular thing in their version of Star
00:10Wars to what certain creatures actually look like.
00:14Here are all
00:15Those questions that even passionate fans of the ever-growing galaxy far far away
00:20Still do not know the official answer to.
00:23So I'm Gareth this is what
00:25Culture Star Wars and here are nine Star Wars questions not even fans know the answer
00:30to.
00:31Number nine is Rex the soldier in Return of the Jedi.
00:34By the time this
00:35Star Wars Rebels animated show had reached its end.
00:38It had been all but confirmed that the bearded
00:40Rebel viewers saw fighting against the Empire on Endor in Episode 6 Return of the Jedi.
00:45was actually none other than Captain Rex.
00:48They both did the same facial hair
00:50costume and it was even said that Rex ended up fighting in that aforementioned battle of
00:55Endor in the show's series finale.
00:57I mean it had to be him right?
00:59Well despite Dave Philo-
01:00Tony feeling it would be cool to sneak the beloved clone into the classic movies, the creator
01:05of the Jedi.
01:05The character of the animated show ultimately decided not to officially make Rex a part of
01:10the original.
01:10the original trilogy.
01:11Instead, he left it up to the audience to decide whether Rex was actually Nick's
01:15Ant, the name of that rebel or not.
01:17So in other words, there's no official answer when it comes to whether or not
01:20Rex was the person seen fighting alongside Han Solo, Leia Organa and Chewbacca.
01:25On the forest moon, all we know for sure is that he was there.
01:28Number 8.
01:29Was George Lucas being seen?
01:30Are you serious about Starkiller's Darth name?
01:33Unquestionably one of the more badass names-
01:35ever to pop up in the galaxy far far away, and one that originally belonged to Luke Skywalker.
01:40in early drafts of 1977's Star Wars, Starkiller was the force unleashed-
01:45the beast's ridiculously cool protagonist.
01:47There was a time there, though, when it looked like his name-
01:50would have been anything but ridiculously cool.
01:53According to one of the game's developers,
01:55George Lucas suggested giving Starkiller the Darth names of Darth Icky and-
02:00Darth Insanius.
02:01Yeah, that's right.
02:02Starkiller was simply to be his nickname.
02:05With his actual title being one of the aforementioned silly monikers if Lucas seemingly-
02:10he had his way.
02:11If you're wondering whether this was just a joke suggestion from the mind behind the galaxy-
02:15far, far away-
02:16well, the fact the reveal of those names was then reportedly followed by a big-
02:20old pause before Lucas then moved on to something else-
02:23suggests he may have been serious-
02:25we'll never know for sure.
02:26And thanks to the team behind the game convincing Lucas that it was probably-
02:30best to leave his Darth name for the sequel.
02:33The strange titles were ultimately dropped-
02:35for that first game before then being forgotten about completely.
02:38Probably for the best.
02:39Number 7-
02:40Then why did George Lucas love Darth Talon so much?
02:44Alongside not knowing if-
02:45George Lucas was kidding when he proposed two rather dodgy Darth names.
02:49It's also not-
02:50not really clear what made the creator fall in love with the idea of another dark side user-
02:55Darth Talon was a character first designed for the legendary comic series.
03:00She'd-
03:00go on to appear as a major villain throughout that series-
03:03and have become a fan favourite by the time he-
03:05it concluded in 2010.
03:06Lucas was similarly hooked, and even went as far as to suggest-
03:10that she should be a part of the then-upcoming Red Fly Studio mall-led battle-
03:15of the Sith Lords video game.
03:17There was just one problem.
03:18You see, Lucas wanted Talon and-
03:20and more to work with each other in the game.
03:22He was said to have even told Red Fly their friends when he-
03:25met them for a meeting.
03:26But with Talon only appearing in the galaxy over 170 years-
03:30it would not have made sense for her to be in the game without-
03:35Lucas solution?
03:36He suggested making the main character of the game a clone of-
03:40or descendants of Maul instead.
03:42His fixation with Talon didn't end with that cancel-
03:45the world game though.
03:46Lucas then decided he wanted to make Talon one of the central villains of his-
03:50planned sequel trilogy.
03:51With the Twi'lek working with Maul once again in those movies-
03:55That also didn't happen in the end, of course.
03:57But Lucas was evidently Talon's number one-
04:00fun for a while there.
04:01It has been said that Lucas just liked the design of the character.
04:05It's hard for him to choose to pump so much energy into trying to make this cool looking force you-
04:10a major player in video games and movies-
04:14There surely must have been-
04:15more to it than that, right?
04:16For now though, Lucas has refused to elaborate on his love for this-
04:20And while we're talking about the creator of this galaxy, I want to know right now what is your-
04:25favourite George Lucas story out there on the internet or just in the world?
04:29You let me know in the comments-
04:306.
04:31What do Jawas look like under the hood?
04:34Despite being-
04:35one of the very first alien species viewers were ever introduced to in the galaxy far-
04:40far away, it's still not known precisely what the Jawas actually, you know-
04:45look like.
04:46Ever since they popped up in 1977's Star Wars, these aliens native-
04:50to Tatooine have refused to pull down their little hoods and reveal their faces on screen-
04:55with only their glowing yellow eyes being visible underneath their robes-
04:59Hilariously-
05:00it's not just fans of this franchise that have spent years debating what they think these mysterious creatures-
05:05look like either.
05:06The characters living in this galaxy also aren't exactly sure.
05:10Some claim that they're large rodent-like beings, others have called them deformed-
05:15humanoids.
05:16And Peli Motto, who apparently dated one, even stated in the book of-
05:20Boba Fett that they were quite furry.
05:22Away from these rumors and throwaway comments, though-
05:25Star Wars is still yet to really show off these scavengers' bodies or faces.
05:30After almost 50 years without a definitive answer, it may be wise to just let this remain one of the-
05:35galaxy's great mysteries and allow fans to keep using their own imaginations to fill in-
05:40the Jawa blanks.
05:41Cheers for stopping by to check out this What Culture Star Wars list today!
05:45If you're having a good time checking out these questions that even Star Wars fans don't know the answer to-
05:50Why not hit that subscribe button down below for more of this kind of stuff?
05:535.
05:54Who is the most-
05:55powerful force user in Star Wars?
05:57Ask a number of Star Wars fans that-
06:00Ask that very question and you will likely get a different answer from each.
06:03Some will quickly jump to-
06:05Anakin Skywalker
06:06He was the chosen one, after all, and someone who boasted a higher mid-
06:10Chlorian Count than Master Yoda.
06:12Frequent Star Wars creator Dave Filoni even called him the-
06:15greatest Jedi of all time.
06:17Others would claim it was actually his son-
06:20Luke, due to him technically defeating his father on the second Death Star.
06:24You could also argue that-
06:25The-
06:25The likes of the aforementioned Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Sidious, Mace Windu-
06:30Bendu, or Rey are the undisputed strongest.
06:33Well the truth is, there's-
06:35There's no clear answer out there really.
06:37Each of those names that I've mentioned have all had their moments when-
06:40They've displayed insane levels of power or ability-
06:43Defeating skilled Sith Lord-
06:45Jedi Masters and unleashing frightening amounts of force energy.
06:49However, at times-
06:50At the time of recording, it's still never been confirmed in Canon who the undisputed strongest
06:54in the galaxy-
06:55He actually is.
06:56With this likely remaining a fascinating question without an official answer-
07:00For many more years to come.
07:024.
07:03What does balance to the force actually-
07:05They mean?
07:06Now this one is a little bit different to the rest of the entries on this list.
07:09As it focuses on-
07:10A question that a decent amount of Star Wars fans do actually know something close to the
07:15official answer to.
07:16However, there are still a great many out there who believe bringing balance-
07:20To the force means something else entirely.
07:22Throughout the Skywalker saga in particular, the-
07:25The Jedi were looking to restore balance to the force by getting rid of the Sith.
07:29But many of-
07:30The Jedi argued that this wouldn't actually be balance at all.
07:33It would mean there would only be light in the galaxy-
07:35Without any darkness.
07:36So wouldn't true balance involve equal members of the dark-
07:40Side and light side?
07:41Well, in a word-
07:43No.
07:44According to George Lucas-
07:45At least.
07:46He claimed that going to the dark side results in the force going out-
07:50Of balance.
07:51As people give in to selfish urges, fear and hatred.
07:55Things are then balanced when you're on the light side.
07:57Living a more selfless life and trying to help-
08:00Help others, not just yourself.
08:01Bringing balance to the force in Star Wars then in Lucasfilm.
08:05Mind means destroying the Sith and all remnants of the dark side.
08:10This-
08:10This is an idea that is still somewhat open to interpretation all these years later though.
08:15With-
08:15Many simply choosing to believe in their own version of what bringing balance to the force actually
08:20Looks like.
08:21Or perhaps just not being aware of Lucas' concept of balance in the first place.
08:253.
08:26Did Mace Windu really defeat Palpatine?
08:28Moments before he was blasted out of a current-
08:30Coruscant window and seemingly killed by Darth Sidious.
08:33With a big ol' assist from Anakin-
08:35Skywalker.
08:36It did appear that Mace Windu had genuinely gotten the better of the Sith Lord in-
08:40Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith?
08:42Or did Sheev Palpatine actually purposely lose-
08:45This duel between two powerful force users to bring Skywalker one step closer to-
08:50the dark side.
08:51Hmm.
08:52Many, understandably, believe the latter to be true.
08:55With Skywalker's emotional reaction to Windu threatening to kill Sidious there and then-
09:00You know, chopping his arm off.
09:01Finally cementing his fall.
09:03With Sidious putting the strings-
09:05So masterfully throughout the prequel trilogy.
09:07You wouldn't put it past him planning all of the events that ultimately-
09:10unfolded in that office.
09:11But according to George Lucas in the movie's DVD commentary-
09:15Windu did actually very much overpower Sidious, meaning that he technically-
09:20won the duel, right?
09:21However, when the Sith Lord was claiming to be weak after having his force-
09:25lightning shot back at him, he was apparently pretending.
09:28Despite Windu apparently being the clear-
09:30The winner of the duel in LucasMind though-
09:32Sidious actor Ian McDiarmid has actually suggested-
09:35that he indeed lost on purpose, telling Star Wars Celebration 2023-
09:40He wanted to compromise Anakin in another way, which he did, and destroy Mace-
09:45at the same time.
09:46Put simply, it's still not completely clear what the truth actually is-
09:50It's just an iconic scene that Star Wars fans will seemingly forever be debating.
09:55According to what is the correct way to pronounce certain names in the galaxy?
09:59If this list is-
10:00I've shown you one thing-
10:01It's that Star Wars fans have a habit of not being able to agree on things.
10:05One of said things is the way to correctly pronounce a whole host of different characters-
10:10beings and other things found in this galaxy far, far away.
10:14For example, the giant-
10:15walkers seen stopping their way through the Hoth snow?
10:18Well, some are quick to pronounce their name-
10:20as AT-AT, while others spell out their AT-AT title.
10:24I fall in the latter-
10:25Certain species, such as the Twi'laks, names like Leia and Har-
10:30one, and a number of other things found walking around the various planets within the Star Wars franchise-
10:35have all been pronounced differently by folks both inside and outside of the movies and shows-
10:40So what is the right way to say all of the things I've just said and more?
10:45Well, according to That Man Again George Lucas, there isn't one.
10:48He'd tell actor Mark Hall-
10:50that he did not care how the actors pronounce these places, species, or other Star Wars-
10:55names.
10:56Why?
10:57Because the various places in the galaxy would obviously pronounce things differently-
11:00Duh.
11:01In other words, there is no right answer to the question of how do you correctly pronounce-
11:05Star Wars name here.
11:06You do you, folks.
11:07Nobody can tell you differently.
11:081.
11:09Why are-
11:10Disney obsessed with blue lightsabers?
11:13Ending on a question that may not have even-
11:15crossed your mind before, but one you will still likely struggle to find an answer for-
11:20Why on Earth is the House of Mouse so into those blue lightsabers and its projects, eh?
11:25Really think about it.
11:26Ever since Disney bought Lucasfilm back in 2012, how many-
11:30times have viewers seen a Jedi or hero fighting with a sky-colored laser sword?
11:35An awful lot, particularly in the sequels.
11:37Rey and Finn obviously used the Skywalker family-
11:40only weapon during Episode 7, The Force Awakens-
11:42Luke Skywalker didn't really pull out his own-
11:45old green lightsaber during Episode 8 or 9 outside of flashback sequences.
11:50The last-
11:50Luke Skywalker debuted Leia's lightsaber on the big screen.
11:52Yep, blue again.
11:53And then Episode 9 only released-
11:55Luke Skywalker gave us a small glimpse at Rey's yellow one before the credits rolled.
11:59Characters who have-
12:00been known to use other lightsaber colors have also had their blades changed in-
12:05various projects.
12:06Ahsoka was given a blue lightsaber makeover in The Clone Wars.
12:10While the green lightsaber-sporting Depa Billaba and Sia Junda were given-
12:15Blue Blades in the Bad Batch and Jedi Survivor TV show and game respectively.
12:20Carl Kestis, the lead protagonist of that series, has also been canonized-
12:25with a blue lightsaber-
12:26despite players being able to choose what blade he wields in the games themselves.
12:30I would always go purple.
12:32Despite the Jedi being known to use a number of different-
12:35colored kyber crystals in their weapons, Disney just seems to be obsessed with the color first-
12:40scene being used by Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi all the way back in 1977.
12:45For sure, the acolyte gave viewers a few other colors for a somewhat refreshing change.
12:50with the odd green and yellow one and even a purple white whip being used.
12:54Ah, we were s-
12:55But then Master Sol, the lead Jedi in the project, still boasted a blue one.
13:00And away-
13:00Away from that show, it's been a blue light for so many of the Jedi in the Disney era.
13:04But what-
13:05Why?
13:06Is Disney just afraid of experimenting more with the colors their heroes use?
13:10In their galaxy far, far away?
13:12They just think blue is the color that represents the light side-
13:15best when clashing against a Sith lightsaber.
13:18Who knows?
13:19But hopefully the next thing-
13:20I'll get things up a little more in the future, eh?
13:21I'm getting bored.
13:22I'm getting bored.
