00:00We have four baby alligators on exhibit. They're about three to four feet long and maybe four to
00:22five years old. Enrichment is extremely important because in the wild these animals are hunting for
00:28their food, problem-solving, trying to figure things out constantly. So in captivity we want to mimic
00:33that. We offer food in a variety of different ways, make them work for it a little bit, keep
00:38their minds active, keep them stimulated. We've got trout and crayfish but we hit them in a giant
00:43wiffle ball and so they had to figure out a way to get it out of the wiffle ball. My favorite thing
00:48about working with the alligators is you're basically working with this prehistoric animal.
00:51It's really fascinating to see how intelligent they actually are and just to learn their behaviors
00:56and their different personalities.
00:57I would say volunteer as much as you can with different zoos and aquariums, wildlife
01:09rehab facilities. Get as much experience as possible and figure out what you really want
01:13to work with and that'll put you on the right path.
