00:00Have you ever noticed that the names of our months make absolutely no sense?
00:04September comes from Septem, meaning 7, but it's the 9th month.
00:10October means 8, but it's the 10th.
00:13Why the mess up?
00:15Originally, the Roman calendar only had 10 months, starting in March and ending in December.
00:19The winter period was simply unnamed because no farming happened.

00:28share this with a friend, and comment which month is your birthday month.
00:31To fix the gap, King Numa Pompilius added January and February to the end of the year.
00:36It wasn't until much later they were moved to the front,
00:39pushing the numbered months out of place forever.
00:42Also, did you know July and August were renamed to honor Julius Caesar and Augustus?
00:46Before that, they were just called Quintilus and Sextilus.
00:51Our calendar is a 2,000-year-old game of musical chairs.
