00:03:27Ahí.
00:03:27Sí, sí, sí.
00:03:57Gracias, Mrs. Weston.
00:03:59Oh, and I have got a lamp for you.
00:04:02It's beautiful.
00:04:03I'll drop it on your porch.
00:04:05Okay, thank you.
00:04:06You have a good day.
00:04:07You as well.
00:04:09Good morning, Abby.
00:04:11Morning, Penny.
00:04:15So, I heard the news.
00:04:18You okay?
00:04:19Marie seems great.
00:04:21Exactly the kind of wife Ross deserves.
00:04:23Is that really how you feel?
00:04:24I don't know.
00:04:25I don't know how I feel.
00:04:26The whole thing is weird.
00:04:27It's like, we were together a third of my life.
00:04:30Abby, what happened wasn't your fault.
00:04:32Logically, I know that.
00:04:33But emotionally, I feel like my body didn't do the one thing it was supposed to do.
00:04:37One in four pregnancies in that way.
00:04:38I know, but why did the one have to be lying?
00:04:41I don't know, sis.
00:04:43Hey, I'm going to hear Papa preach this weekend.
00:04:45There's like four services.
00:04:46I can go anytime that works for you for me to come.
00:04:48Oh, this weekend I'm really busy, you know, with the house.
00:04:51Papa would really love to see you.
00:04:53And I'm going to see him, eventually, just when things slow down a little bit.
00:04:59Okay.
00:05:03You want to get a coffee, my treat?
00:05:04I'd love to, but I told Megan to help her make cookies for the bake sale.
00:05:07Oh, fun.
00:05:09But maybe I could set up a dinner, you, me, and Papa.
00:05:11Uh, we haven't all been together as a family in far too long.
00:05:16Yeah, yeah, I'd like that.
00:05:18Okay, cool.
00:05:21Love you.
00:05:22Love you.
00:05:22Yeah.
00:05:25Hi, this is Abby Brooks.
00:05:27I host the What Happened Here Last Night podcast.
00:05:29I'm calling for Hannah Waterhouse.
00:05:31She's on another call.
00:05:32Can I have her call you back?
00:05:33Of course.
00:05:35Oh, do you happen to know if...
00:05:38Okay.
00:05:39Okay.
00:05:41Hi, can I get an oat milk latte, please?
00:05:50Lightly sweetened.
00:05:52Thank you.
00:05:56Hey, good morning.
00:05:57I will just do a drip coffee, please.
00:06:00Black.
00:06:04Thank you.
00:06:05We ordered an oat milk latte, lightly sweetened.
00:06:12Oh, uh, I think that was mine.
00:06:14Matt!
00:06:15Abby!
00:06:16Hi!
00:06:16Hey!
00:06:18It's good to see you.
00:06:19I know.
00:06:20I think I just took a huge gulp of your coffee.
00:06:21Yeah, no, I think you did too.
00:06:23Sorry.
00:06:23Can I get you another one?
00:06:24No, no, no, no.
00:06:25Don't worry about it.
00:06:26It's not like we didn't share a million juice boxes when we were kids, right?
00:06:28I heard you were back in town.
00:06:31You bought the old Bancroft estate.
00:06:33Mm-hmm.
00:06:33Beautiful place in somebody's dream home, if I'm not mistaken.
00:06:37Find any secret passageways yet?
00:06:39Oh, I think those were just silly rooms.
00:06:41Were they?
00:06:42I remember you begged me to go to that historic tour of homes with you, and we were, what,
00:06:47like, 14?
00:06:48Yes.
00:06:49I owe you a thank you for that.
00:06:50It made me feel comfortable buying it without seeing it again, even if it did come with a
00:06:54bunch of stuff from the previous tenant.
00:06:56I'm actually surprised that I got it.
00:06:58My realtor said there was multiple offers because it hadn't sold since it was built.
00:07:02Well, I'm glad that I could help.
00:07:05How's your husband like, Prescott?
00:07:07Uh, he's not my husband anywhere.
00:07:09Oh.
00:07:11I'm sorry to hear that.
00:07:12It's okay.
00:07:12You're the best.
00:07:14Hey, I think it's really cool you ended up an investigative reporter.
00:07:19True crime podcaster.
00:07:20Basically like a grown-up spy.
00:07:22Says the real-life cop.
00:07:25All those spy games we played when we were kids must have rubbed off on us.
00:07:29Only a little.
00:07:30All three gathers, do you call me?
00:07:32I gotta get back to work, but I'm sure I'm gonna be seeing you around, right?
00:07:35That is highly likely.
00:07:37And, uh, let me know if you find any bookshelves that open in the secret rooms.
00:07:40All right.
00:07:41Not as likely.
00:07:41Yeah.
00:07:42Okay.
00:07:50All right.
00:07:50¿Qué pasa?
00:08:20Ms. Weston?
00:08:29Ms. Weston?
00:08:33Are you home?
00:08:50No.
00:08:51No.
00:08:52No.
00:08:53No.
00:08:57No.
00:08:58No.
00:09:00No.
00:09:03No.
00:10:29Ella no tenía guardia.
00:10:31Whoever dropped it, knocked over that planter,
00:10:33went into her house, and...
00:10:34¿Y qué?
00:10:35¿Y killed Miss Weston?
00:10:54Por favor, Matt.
00:10:56Miss Weston es mi amiga.
00:10:58Y yo creo que si buscamos a la casa,
00:11:00no encontrarás una espalda con esa pintura.
00:11:06Ok.
00:11:07Bien.
00:11:08Voy a tenerlo fotografado y agregado como evidencia potencial.
00:11:10Y luego voy a mirarlo,
00:11:11y...
00:11:12quiero decirme.
00:11:13Voy a mirarlo.
00:11:14Sé cómo funciona tu cerebro.
00:11:16Promete me,
00:11:17no te harás hacer nada,
00:11:18investigativo,
00:11:19jornalista.
00:11:20No sé lo que estás hablando.
00:11:22Abby,
00:11:23leave la investigación
00:11:24hasta los profesionales.
00:11:25Tecnicamente,
00:11:26soy un profesional.
00:11:27You know what I mean.
00:11:28Do I, though?
00:11:31I will let you know when I have something.
00:11:33And I will circle back if I don't hear from you.
00:11:37I'm sure you will.
00:11:57No sé.
00:11:58No sé.
00:12:00No sé.
00:12:01Marian Weston,
00:12:02sole heir to the Weston Railway fortune,
00:12:05is building two estates in Prescott
00:12:07with her recently inherited fortune
00:12:09worth $23 million.
00:12:12There's your motive.
00:12:15Marian Weston,
00:12:16in front of the Bancroft estate,
00:12:18built by Weston,
00:12:19named after her grandfather,
00:12:20Bancroft Weston,
00:12:21was the last project finished
00:12:22before she shut down her operation.
00:12:24I wonder why she never told me
00:12:26that she built my house.
00:12:35Hi,
00:12:36my name is Abby Brooks,
00:12:37and I was wondering if it would be possible
00:12:39to get ownership history records on my home?
00:12:41You can fill out the online form
00:12:43and provide proof of residence
00:12:45to have those records sent to you
00:12:46from the county clerk's office.
00:12:48Would it be faster if I did it in person?
00:12:50Unfortunately, no.
00:12:51Each form has a series of approvals.
00:12:54Right.
00:12:55Thank you.
00:13:21I'd love you.
00:13:22Oh.
00:13:23Oh.
00:13:24Would it be a nice picture of me?
00:13:26Yeah.
00:13:27I'd love you.
00:13:28I would love you.
00:13:29I'd love you.
00:13:31Oh, sorry.
00:13:32Oh.
00:13:33Wow.
00:13:34Oh, God.
00:13:35Oh, you're welcome.
00:13:36I'd love you.
00:13:37I'd love you.
00:13:38I'd love you.
00:13:39Oh, come on.
00:13:40Oh.
00:13:41Oh.
00:13:42Oh, yeah.
00:13:43Oh, it's a nice idea.
00:13:44I've got a nice idea.
00:13:45What's going on?
00:13:46Oh, right.
00:13:47Oh, it's 21.
00:13:48Oh, I'd love you.
00:13:49Oh, I've got a nice idea.
00:13:50Oh, what's going on?
00:13:51Muchas gracias por estar aquí.
00:13:55Me aprecio mucho.
00:13:56Gracias.
00:14:47No, no, no, no.
00:14:48And we, the Prescott Community,
00:14:50will welcome them with open arms.
00:14:54Did you like to say anything?
00:14:58I didn't really know my mother.
00:15:03We had recently reconnected.
00:15:28¿Papi?
00:15:32¿Papi?
00:15:34Espera, señor, señor.
00:15:36No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:16:07Ok, that was weird, right?
00:16:10Do you want a glass?
00:16:12It was weird.
00:16:13Was you hiding in the bushes, spying on your neighbors?
00:16:16No, I mean the Bible verse.
00:16:17And the knocked over planter, and the long lost son, and the fact that she gave me a lamp and the verse was about a lamp.
00:16:23I don't know, Abby, just promise me you won't go pointing fingers at anyone without proof.
00:16:30I'll see you tomorrow.
00:16:34I'll see you tomorrow.
00:16:35I love you.
00:16:36Love you.
00:16:36Bye-bye.
00:16:45¡Gracias!
00:17:15Facions
00:17:20It's a clue.
00:17:33Why else would she have given me the lamp?
00:17:35She wanted me to find this business card.
00:17:38That looks like trash.
00:17:39One man's trash is another woman's asset.
00:17:42Maybe she just thought you would like it.
00:17:44Maybe, or it means something
00:17:46She had a framed verse about a lamp
00:17:49Look at the frame, look at the lamp
00:17:52Maybe her bible study was working through psalms
00:17:56I thought the same thing, so I checked the church's website
00:17:59They're working through Ephesians, not psalms
00:18:01Miss Weston wanted me to find this bible verse, this business card
00:18:06I say we search our house
00:18:08We? No, no, no, no
00:18:10We are not kids playing spies, Abby, this is not a game
00:18:13I know
00:18:14Do you?
00:18:15Yes
00:18:16Matt, please, there's something going on here
00:18:20What's the motive?
00:18:22Miss Weston's fortune
00:18:24I didn't know Miss Weston had a fortune
00:18:27A few searches on genealogy sites confirmed it
00:18:30Miss Weston was the sole heir to the Weston Railway fortune
00:18:34When her father passed away, he left her everything
00:18:38Over 23 million dollars
00:18:41Need more motive than that?
00:18:44Okay
00:18:45What makes you believe there's something in the house?
00:18:48The verse, the two matching lamps
00:18:51If I can just figure out what this business card is for, we'll have a lead
00:18:54Well, you can't just break into someone else's house
00:18:57What if I told you that I had a key and written permission?
00:19:02I would say, what do you need me for?
00:19:04Well, I don't
00:19:06But it would be nice to have somebody on the outside
00:19:09And you always were the better spy
00:19:12Fine, but we are not partners, Abby
00:19:18I am doing this as a friend
00:19:20Do not get too excited
00:19:21I'm not
00:19:22I'm serious
00:19:23I'm not
00:19:24Ugh, I gotta get out of here
00:19:26Where do you have to?
00:19:28Church, I'm gonna go to the late service
00:19:30Wanna join me?
00:19:31Oh, no, I have a big meeting thing
00:19:34Suit yourself
00:19:35I'll see you around, Brooks
00:19:37See you later, McAdams
00:19:38That's Officer McAdams to you
00:19:40Of course
00:19:44Relationships
00:19:45We all have them
00:19:46Relationships with our spouse
00:19:48With our kids
00:19:49With our family
00:19:50With our friends
00:19:52With our neighbor
00:19:53And that's what God is looking for from you, too
00:19:57If you look through the books of the Bible
00:20:01You'll see that God created unique relationships
00:20:04With each of the authors
00:20:06There's an intimacy
00:20:08A safety
00:20:09A trust
00:20:10And God wants that with you, too
00:20:13For you to really know Him
00:20:17For you to trust Him
00:20:19And His plan
00:20:20Abby?
00:20:21Papa?
00:20:22Oh, it's so great to see you, kiddo
00:20:23Oh, how's the house?
00:20:24It's, uh...
00:20:25It's all right
00:20:26Oh, so sad to hear about Miss Weston
00:20:41Yeah
00:20:42She was such a light in this community
00:20:45She was a really special woman
00:20:47Mm-hmm
00:20:48And you, you are just as on fire for the Lord
00:20:51As the day I left Prescott
00:20:53Yeah, I'd say more so
00:20:54Wow
00:20:57Um, can I ask you something?
00:20:58Anything
00:21:01Psalm chapter 119, verse 105
00:21:06Your word is a lamp to my feet and a...
00:21:09Light to my path
00:21:11Yes
00:21:12Mm-hmm
00:21:13What does this verse mean in context?
00:21:15Well, there are lots of references to the word of God illuminating the way for those who are lost or stumbling
00:21:22Like, um, Psalm chapter 18, verse 28
00:21:26For thou wilt light my candle, the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness
00:21:32They remind you that in darkness seeking out the light of the Lord will guide you to your next right step, if you will
00:21:39And if you don't know where to start, prayer is always a good place
00:21:44Why do you ask?
00:21:46I was just curious
00:21:49You should know
00:21:52I'll see you soon though
00:21:53Yes
00:21:54Uh, Soph mentioned dinner
00:21:55Yes
00:21:56I love it
00:21:57I love it
00:22:07How unbelievable
00:22:08We have been here for five minutes
00:22:09You need you to chill out
00:22:10No, no, no, no
00:22:11Do not tell me
00:22:12Chill out
00:22:13I can't take this
00:22:15It's the light
00:22:16I mean, it's...
00:22:26Hi!
00:22:46Hi
00:22:47What are you doing?
00:22:48I, um...
00:22:50Dropped my keys and can't seem to find them
00:22:53Do you want some help?
00:22:54Sure
00:22:56Sure
00:22:57Thanks
00:22:58I'm Abby, by the way
00:22:59I'm your mother
00:23:00Uh, yes
00:23:01No
00:23:02You are a neighbor
00:23:03It's not mine yet
00:23:05Um, we're still dealing with logistics
00:23:08It's a beautiful house
00:23:09Your mother did a great job maintaining it
00:23:12Yeah, um, it's a bit much for me, for us
00:23:18She loved flowers
00:23:19And the chicken coop out back, she had a name for each one of them
00:23:22You can't seem to get that thing open
00:23:24There's a slot to feed them
00:23:25But the door to the coop is locked and then
00:23:27The key seems to be missing
00:23:33So you're from...
00:23:34Avondale
00:23:35About an hour out
00:23:36I'll...
00:23:37I'll head back in the morning
00:23:38What do you do there?
00:23:39I'm an accountant
00:23:41Why?
00:23:42Just... getting to know my neighbor
00:23:45So cool that you and Miss Weston reconnected after all these years
00:23:48You know, I think that I'm gonna feed them
00:23:50Found them!
00:23:55Thanks
00:23:56Of course
00:23:57Happy to help
00:23:58See you around
00:23:59I know listenership is down a bit this season, but I have a great...
00:24:09Let me stop you right there, Abby
00:24:11I'm gonna be frank
00:24:12Your first season was a hit
00:24:15One of the best shows on this podcasting network to date
00:24:18However, you have not been able to replicate that success this season
00:24:21Which is why I say we should pivot
00:24:23We have a new case we want to assign you
00:24:26Missing girl upstate
00:24:28Looks like another slam dunk of something you can easily solve on air
00:24:32What does that mean?
00:24:33It's just a more... solvable case
00:24:36Usual cast of suspects
00:24:37Oh, plus we've been talking to the sheriff
00:24:39And she said she will give you the inside scoop
00:24:41Up-close interviews
00:24:43Or...
00:24:44We could do something a little closer to home
00:24:47A case I've been investigating with a local cop
00:24:50I'm listening
00:24:51My neighbor was found dead in her home a couple of days ago
00:24:55They said it was from natural causes, but I'm not so sure
00:24:58Her planter by the front door had been knocked over
00:25:01There was a gardening glove in her yard
00:25:03She gave me this business card in a lamp
00:25:06And the other night during her vigil
00:25:07There was literally a dark figure stalking her house
00:25:11I'll tell you what
00:25:12I'll give you a week to come up with something compelling
00:25:15Suspects, motive, opportunity
00:25:18Prove this was a murder
00:25:20If you can't, we're gonna go with the missing girl case upstate
00:25:24Okay?
00:25:25Deal
00:25:27My neighbor, Miss Weston, was recently found dead in her Prescott home
00:25:31And while most believe it was a death by natural causes
00:25:34I think there's more to the story
00:25:37With the help of my old friend, a local Prescott cop
00:25:40I'll be looking into her death to see if I can find out what really happened to Marion Weston
00:25:46I think there's more...
00:25:47Yes, there's more for the feeling if you want to thank kelley
00:25:48Tell the priest to hear if you can feel no mask
00:25:49You can feel no mask
00:25:50It's not my
00:26:06I can't believe I'm going to say this, but it's go time.
00:26:36Okay, I'm in.
00:26:43You know, I could get fired for this.
00:26:44You're not doing anything wrong.
00:26:46You are sitting in your car talking to your friend.
00:26:56What do you know about the long-lost son, Theo?
00:26:59Not much.
00:27:00Counting in Avondale.
00:27:01His wife seems nice.
00:27:03I haven't really had the chance to meet her yet.
00:27:05So, you never left Prescott?
00:27:08No.
00:27:10How did it just never happen?
00:27:12Why not?
00:27:14I never really had a reason to.
00:27:16I've got everything I need here.
00:27:18My parents are here.
00:27:20I've got a good job here.
00:27:21I bought a condo.
00:27:22I've got a goldfish.
00:27:24I've got everything I need.
00:27:25Did you find what you were looking for in the city?
00:27:27I don't know what I'm looking for.
00:27:29Then what are we doing right now?
00:27:30No, I know what I'm doing here.
00:27:32I just don't know what I'm doing out there.
00:27:34I feel like I don't really have a playbook.
00:27:43Uh-oh.
00:27:44What?
00:27:45Abby, abort the mission.
00:27:47What?
00:27:47Why?
00:27:48Abby.
00:27:49Abby, Theo's car is pulling into the driveway right now.
00:27:52Oh.
00:27:58Abby.
00:27:59Abby, get out now.
00:28:00Abby, Abby.
00:28:22Abby?
00:28:22Abby, Abby.
00:28:25¡Gracias!
00:28:55Remi. She's actually really worried about him. He gets away and I'm just I'm checking around the area to see you.
00:29:02I just she hadn't seen him, I told her I'd not make some rounds so well if you say you haven't seen him, I guess you haven't seen him.
00:29:12Stray Cat! That was the best you could come up with?
00:29:15Look that was too close, Abby.
00:29:18You're a cop.
00:29:19I panicked.
00:29:22He, he confound you.
00:29:23Yeah but he didn't?
00:29:24Pero él podría haber.
00:29:25Pero él no puede.
00:29:26Y nos encontramos otro clue.
00:29:29Psalm 23, versículo 5.
00:29:32"...Prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
00:29:34You anoint my head with oil.
00:29:35My cup overflows."
00:29:38Ms. Weston is leading us somewhere.
00:29:39Or she has a penchant for keeping the word of God close.
00:29:42I doubt it.
00:29:43But what are the odds that she gives me a lamp?
00:29:45And then the next clue is hidden in a matching lamp.
00:29:49If it is a clue, Slim, I will give you that.
00:29:54Wait a minute.
00:29:57Table.
00:29:58Oil.
00:29:59Cup.
00:30:01Kitchen.
00:30:02Ms. Weston's kitchen.
00:30:02We need to search Ms. Weston's kitchen.
00:30:04No, I think you need to stay away from the house for a little while.
00:30:06At least until we can, you know, learn a little more.
00:30:10More about what?
00:30:11I'm serious, Abby.
00:30:12I don't want you getting yourself wrapped up in something that you can't untangle.
00:30:16I'll be careful.
00:30:17Impress.
00:30:22Sorry, I gotta go.
00:30:24Let me know if you hear anything?
00:30:30Yeah.
00:30:31Okay.
00:30:32I like having you back, Brooks.
00:30:33I like being back.
00:30:37Caller 22, I'm in route.
00:30:38Cammie!
00:30:52Cammie!
00:30:52Hi!
00:30:53It's Abby, right?
00:30:54Yes.
00:30:55You're back from Avondale already.
00:30:58Oh.
00:30:58Theo told me.
00:30:59Right.
00:31:00Yeah, it was just a quick trip.
00:31:02Just had some work stuff to take care of.
00:31:04Right.
00:31:05Of course.
00:31:06Well, I hope you guys get time to explore Prescott.
00:31:08Such a cute place.
00:31:10Are you planning on staying a while?
00:31:11I don't know.
00:31:13Theo, he...
00:31:15Yes.
00:31:16I can't imagine what you guys are going through.
00:31:18If you need anything, I'm just up the way.
00:31:21Thanks.
00:31:22Of course.
00:31:23And Theo, is he...
00:31:25Oh, he's...
00:31:26Let's go.
00:31:29Now.
00:31:31It was really nice to officially meet you, Abby.
00:31:33Nice to meet you, too.
00:31:35Have a good night.
00:31:35Oh, no, no, no, no.
00:32:05Stop. Stop, stop, stop. Stop that.
00:32:14Hey, Matt, you might want to come down here and do a wellness check on Cammie.
00:32:21So everybody's good here?
00:32:24If you need anything, give us a call, all right?
00:32:26Have a good night.
00:32:29Let's go.
00:32:29¿Están saliendo por la noche?
00:32:37Sí, así que están regresando a Avondale.
00:32:43Ok, voy a volver.
00:32:44No, no creo que sea una buena idea.
00:32:46Voy a ser rápida.
00:32:47Tengo que figure out lo que la Weston quería encontrar
00:32:49antes de que alguien se encuentre primero.
00:32:57¿Alguien?
00:33:00No.
00:33:08Bueno, gracias por venirme a la vuelta.
00:33:10Justo, uh, estoy haciendo mi cargo de mi cargo.
00:33:16I, I should probably get back to the station.
00:33:19Great, yes, of course.
00:33:22I'll, um, I'll see you at church again this weekend.
00:33:24Kind of like going home, right?
00:33:34Call me if anything comes up.
00:33:37I will.
00:33:37Okay.
00:33:40Have a good night.
00:33:41Good night.
00:33:41What did you want me to find, Miss Weston?
00:34:00Thank you, Parker.
00:34:10And great job on the math test.
00:34:12Your studying is really paying off.
00:34:13Thank you.
00:34:13Whoa, you're almost slowed down.
00:34:17What can I say?
00:34:18Sunflowers make people generous.
00:34:20Oh, you're being modest.
00:34:22What's your real secret?
00:34:24Promise not to tell?
00:34:26Scout time.
00:34:27Sunflower butter.
00:34:29Gives the cookies a nuttier flavor and makes them richer.
00:34:32Here.
00:34:33Oh, okay, let me think.
00:34:35It's on the house.
00:34:37Thank you.
00:34:37Hey, Abby.
00:34:40This is Zeke.
00:34:41His classroom is right next to mine.
00:34:43Zeke, meet my sister, Abby.
00:34:44It is so nice to meet you.
00:34:45It was well.
00:34:46I've heard quite a lot about you.
00:34:47Uh, good, thanks, I hope.
00:34:49Well, I can say for a fact that your sister is really happy that you're back in Prescott.
00:34:54Happy to be back.
00:34:57Well, I better get back to making my rounds.
00:34:59I don't want Principal Jones to think I'm sleeping on the job.
00:35:03Nice to meet you.
00:35:05Thank you for the cookie.
00:35:06Come on.
00:35:07She is cute.
00:35:15What?
00:35:16Oh.
00:35:17Uh-huh.
00:35:18Ew.
00:35:19Are you going to buy a cookie or are you just here to make me as uncomfortable as possible?
00:35:23What are sisters for?
00:35:24Can I help you with something?
00:35:26Actually, yes.
00:35:27How well did you get to know Miss Weston as an adult?
00:35:31I'd say about as well as anyone here did.
00:35:33Why?
00:35:34Well, I got the unofficial green light from my distributor to look into her death as a
00:35:37potential next season.
00:35:38How'd you manage that?
00:35:39It's a long story.
00:35:40Do you know of anybody who would be after her fortune?
00:35:44Besides the long lost son?
00:35:45I mean, her ex-boyfriend was always a bit shady in my opinion.
00:35:49Miss Weston had an ex-boyfriend?
00:35:51Oh, yeah.
00:35:52He runs that mechanic shop right off the alley on Main Street.
00:35:55Do you know if she was ever married?
00:35:56Uh, I don't.
00:35:59But public records would show that.
00:36:00You should check the library.
00:36:01They might have old copies.
00:36:03You're a genius, sis.
00:36:04That's what they tell me.
00:36:05Thank you.
00:36:08All right.
00:36:10One for the road.
00:36:12Pleasure doing business with you.
00:36:13Thank you.
00:36:14Thank you.
00:36:44¡Gracias!
00:37:14Regretted it, until her last day.
00:37:16Well, why'd she do it?
00:37:18From what I heard, she said he deserved a family, with both a mother and a father.
00:37:24She got a lot of pressure from her family.
00:37:27Having a baby out of wedlock and all.
00:37:30The whole situation was just so sad.
00:37:34Well, she must have been happy, right? Reconnecting with him after all these years?
00:37:39I know she took an ad out in the paper every weekend.
00:37:42A regional one, writing to him, trying to make contact.
00:37:46I'm just glad it finally worked.
00:37:50Excuse me, please.
00:38:09Hey!
00:38:12Wait!
00:38:34Anything?
00:38:35Nothing.
00:38:36I need to go back into the house. The table, oil, cup, clue.
00:38:40Abby.
00:38:41There's someone else trying to get into this house, Matt, and Miss Weston gave me a key for a reason.
00:38:46We need to stay ahead of whoever else might be onto this.
00:38:51Okay. I can get a proper search warrant in the morning.
00:38:54We'll make sure that no stone or knick-knack is unturned.
00:38:57Thank you.
00:38:59Thank you.
00:39:01Hey, um, what are you doing tonight?
00:39:03Uh, I was planning on working on my podcast pitch.
00:39:08Why? What's up?
00:39:09I just wanted to see if you wanted to, uh, grab a bite to eat at the usual spot.
00:39:16Yeah, I've been here a million times. It's never for dinner.
00:39:19Oh, you're missing out.
00:39:20Am I?
00:39:20That's fantastic.
00:39:20Thank you.
00:39:21Thank you.
00:39:23You've never had the pizza here.
00:39:24Mm-mm.
00:39:25So you've heard of an everything bagel, right?
00:39:26Yeah.
00:39:27Okay, so I call this the everything pizza.
00:39:29Okay.
00:39:29So each topping is paired with its complimentary counterpart.
00:39:32So you've got your meat lover section, your Hawaiian section, barbecue chicken, veggie lover.
00:39:38That way you can kind of get the, uh, best of all worlds.
00:39:41It's brilliant.
00:39:41Ooh.
00:39:42Dive in.
00:39:43Cheers.
00:39:47Cheers.
00:39:48Cheers.
00:39:50What do you think?
00:39:53It's amazing.
00:39:55Ten out of ten.
00:40:07Who's that?
00:40:09Uh, no one.
00:40:10I've known you since you were seven.
00:40:12You have a terrible life.
00:40:14One of my better qualities.
00:40:17Spill.
00:40:18We, uh, we shared a date and we're out of college.
00:40:21She's a pediatric nurse in Greenville.
00:40:24Her parents live up on Milton.
00:40:26We were together four years.
00:40:29Proposed and everything.
00:40:31What happened?
00:40:32Nothing.
00:40:34A lot of things.
00:40:35I, I don't know.
00:40:36I could never be enough for her.
00:40:41How is that possible?
00:40:43You're charming and handsome.
00:40:45You clearly have great taste in pizza.
00:40:47I mean, you're any girl's dream guy.
00:40:50Yeah.
00:40:51Well, thank you for saying that.
00:40:53You know, I'm sorry that we kind of lost touch.
00:40:56It happens.
00:40:58No life gets in the way.
00:41:01Only if you let it.
00:41:03Mm-hmm.
00:41:03I know what you mean, though.
00:41:07I feel that way about Ross.
00:41:09It's like, we should have been perfect.
00:41:13But when we lost the baby, it's like we couldn't pretend it was okay anymore.
00:41:19Abby, I'm, I'm so sorry.
00:41:22I didn't handle it well.
00:41:23I threw myself into work.
00:41:25I shut him out.
00:41:27I took it out on everyone.
00:41:29I'm not proud of who I was then.
00:41:31I'm sure everyone understands.
00:41:33Yeah, but that doesn't make it okay.
00:41:35Are you proud of who you are now?
00:41:40Ugh.
00:41:43TBD.
00:41:44Is that why you came back here?
00:41:46I don't know why I came back here.
00:41:49It was like everything hit the fan and all I could think was, get home.
00:41:53The lamp guiding your path.
00:41:56Something like that.
00:42:00How do you do it?
00:42:01Do what?
00:42:03Keep your faith.
00:42:04You're a cop, for goodness sake.
00:42:06After everything you've seen, day in and day out, how do you still believe?
00:42:11I'd be lying if I said it was easy.
00:42:14My faith's been tested more times than I can count.
00:42:18Are you familiar with Mark chapter 9, verse 24?
00:42:23I believe, help my unbelief.
00:42:26It's about knowing something is true, but having a hard time truly believing it in the heart.
00:42:34I can see it in front of you with your own two eyes.
00:42:37And that verse, I use it as a prayer.
00:42:42Help me with my unbelief.
00:42:44At times when I'm feeling disconnected.
00:42:48Does it work?
00:42:48Sometimes answering prayers can take a while, and that can be challenging.
00:42:55But I've found that the Lord reveals himself to those who seek him.
00:42:58I mean, that's nice in theory, but I'm not sure that's how things actually work in the real world.
00:43:08I know from experience, it is.
00:43:10I know it's hard to see right now, but God has a plan for you that's bigger than you can even imagine.
00:43:18Under a small vintage lamp on the table in the corner, I found the first clue.
00:43:32And that led me to a second, another Bible verse mentioning household items.
00:43:38Psalm chapter 23, verse 5.
00:43:41You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
00:43:44You anoint my head with oil.
00:43:46My cup overflows.
00:43:48Table, oil, cup.
00:43:50Kitchen, right?
00:43:52But I searched the kitchen in Miss Weston's home, and nothing.
00:43:56Back to square one.
00:43:57Was Miss Weston leading me somewhere, or was all of this meaningless after all?
00:44:15If I were Miss Weston, what would that first be?
00:44:19Table, oil.
00:44:27Let's try this.
00:44:34Dear God.
00:44:35Hi.
00:44:36Sorry, it's been a while.
00:44:37Um.
00:44:40I kind of don't know where to start.
00:44:45Have you had a chance to review the samples yet?
00:44:47I did.
00:44:49And?
00:44:50I'm not sure it's totally working.
00:44:52I agree with the cop character.
00:44:54It just seems like this lady left Bible verses around her house.
00:44:56What about her fortune?
00:44:58The lamp?
00:44:59The business card?
00:45:00I'm sorry, Abby.
00:45:01There's just not enough there.
00:45:02No, give me more time, please.
00:45:04Something is going on.
00:45:05I can feel it.
00:45:06Fine.
00:45:07A few more days.
00:45:09But we need to finish this John of Benson season strong.
00:45:13I can't have it falling to the wayside because you found something shiny and entertaining.
00:45:17Of course.
00:45:18All of the reporting's done.
00:45:19I just have to record the episodes.
00:45:20I want them in my inbox ASAP.
00:45:22And with the suspects narrowed down to the building's maintenance team, it was only a matter of time
00:45:28before detectives would close in on them.
00:45:30Hey, sis.
00:45:57¿Cuál fue el nombre de la negociación de la fábrica donde dijo que Ms. Weston su ex trabajó?
00:46:25¿Hola? Excuse me.
00:46:27¿Puedo ayudarte?
00:46:28Sí, estoy buscando...
00:46:30Bueno, no sé su nombre, pero él se casó mi amigo.
00:46:34Nico, alguien aquí para ti.
00:46:39Oh, no.
00:46:40Nico, ¿qué tenemos que ir a la carburetora de la trucka de Mrs. Gale?
00:46:53I saw some back order, boss.
00:46:54Excuse me.
00:47:05Excuse me.
00:47:06I'm the gentleman to help you outside, ma'am.
00:47:08Oh, I don't have car troubles.
00:47:11What do you know about Mary and Weston?
00:47:13I know that you two were...
00:47:15I saw you the night of the vigil.
00:47:18Who are you?
00:47:19I just want to ask you a few questions.
00:47:21Get out of my shop.
00:47:23But...
00:47:24Now.
00:47:29Wait, he threatened you?
00:47:30Well, it wasn't a threat per se, but it was a little bit scary.
00:47:34You okay?
00:47:35Yeah.
00:47:37Yeah.
00:47:38I'm okay.
00:47:41But I do think we need to look into him.
00:47:43I saw a stack of past due bills on the counter, and when I drove around to other mechanics
00:47:47in the area, they were doing double the business Grace was.
00:47:50Plus, I found these.
00:47:51You think he knew about the fortune?
00:48:00Based on his reaction, I bet he does.
00:48:06Abby Brooks.
00:48:07I'm calling to let you know that the county clerk's office got back to me with the history
00:48:11records of your house.
00:48:12We'll be mailing the copy to you this week.
00:48:14Can you just tell me, who owned the home before I bought it?
00:48:17We don't usually do this over the phone.
00:48:20Please, it's a bit of an emergency.
00:48:22It looks like the home was owned by the Weston Railway Trust.
00:48:26According to reports, there were various tenants, but the house has been vacant for the past
00:48:30few years.
00:48:31Only had one owner.
00:48:33Marion Weston.
00:48:34Thank you.
00:48:36Of course.
00:48:37Have a good afternoon.
00:48:38Matt, if Miss Weston owned my house, that clue might not have been about her kitchen,
00:48:43but about mine.
00:48:44Have you guys been in contact with Miss Weston's estate attorney?
00:48:54Uh, that's not usually our department.
00:48:56Why?
00:48:56Uh, last time Theo was in town, he mentioned something about logistics.
00:49:01I'll look into it.
00:49:02What is this?
00:49:04Oh, that was on Theo's key ring.
00:49:08Long story.
00:49:10Any idea what it means?
00:49:11Yeah.
00:49:12This is the Fremont Medical Conference.
00:49:14Leah used to go every year.
00:49:16The, uh, number four, that's the day.
00:49:20If you went other days, there'd be other numbers.
00:49:22Why would an accountant go to a medical conference?
00:49:24It's a good question.
00:49:31So it looks like their curriculum is locked.
00:49:39It's not available on the site.
00:49:41I'll put in a request when I get back to the station.
00:49:43Are you finding anything?
00:49:49Nothing.
00:49:51We are coming up short again.
00:49:54I'm sorry.
00:49:55Another dead end.
00:49:56Dear God, I want to start off by saying thank you.
00:50:21Thank you for my sister, Sophia, and for my papa.
00:50:25I know my family isn't traditional, but I love them.
00:50:28I ask, Lord, that you help me with my math test.
00:50:31It is tomorrow, and I'm so nervous.
00:50:34What if I make mistakes?
00:50:35Love, Abby.
00:50:36I know a lot has happened, and it's been a while since we last spoke.
00:50:56Since I spoke.
00:50:58But I want to thank you for taking such good care of papa and Sophia.
00:51:07Their lives have been really blessed.
00:51:10And I can't thank you enough for how happy they are.
00:51:16I could have an ounce of what they have.
00:51:28Yes, this is Officer McAdams with the Prescott Police Department.
00:51:38I'm looking to obtain a copy of the schedule of events for this year's Fremont Medical Conference.
00:51:43Thank you.
00:51:44So, I'm kind of stuck.
00:51:47I have no idea what Miss Weston meant by that verse.
00:51:50When was the last time you read the book of Psalms?
00:51:56I can confidently say it's been a while.
00:52:00Want to give me the CliffsNotes?
00:52:04That psalm has themes of assurance and care from God.
00:52:09If a flock of sheep is guided by a skilled shepherd, they are protected and provided for.
00:52:14In the same way, David praises God in this psalm for giving him peace.
00:52:20There's a knowing that God always protects and provides.
00:52:30You know there's nothing you could ever do to make me love you less.
00:52:37I know change is scary.
00:52:41But that doesn't mean it's not good.
00:52:44No, it means I need a drink.
00:52:46No, and it's only a temporary relief.
00:52:50I was kidding.
00:52:51I gotta go to work.
00:52:53But please, stop by any time.
00:52:57I love you, kiddo.
00:52:58Yeah, love you too.
00:52:59Hey.
00:53:12Hi.
00:53:14Hi.
00:53:16I've been trying to reach you.
00:53:17I know, I, I'm sorry, things have just, it's been, oh.
00:53:25Yeah, I know.
00:53:29So, what's up?
00:53:31It's kind of silly, actually, but you happened to grab my grandfather's cufflinks when we packed up the apartment.
00:53:40They were in your jewelry box last, I remember.
00:53:42Right, yeah, um, I'm happy to check for them.
00:53:47Thank you.
00:53:48I hate to ask, but I want to wear them for the wedding.
00:53:53So, thank you for checking.
00:53:56Yeah, of course, I'll check when I get home.
00:54:00Talk to you later.
00:54:01Oh my gosh.
00:54:20I love you.
00:54:21¿Qué pasa?
00:54:51¿Qué pasa?
00:55:21¿Qué pasa?
00:55:51John Gray's got a rap sheet longer than a drugstore receipt.
00:55:54The guys that work for him, not any better.
00:55:57Are you going to bring him in for questioning?
00:55:58You're going to have to question him.
00:56:00Well, maybe if you tell the chief, they might have to do an autopsy.
00:56:03Theo didn't want.
00:56:04We have to try.
00:56:06If you file a concerned citizen's report, we might be able to do something.
00:56:14My offer still stands.
00:56:16You want to join me?
00:56:17Oh, hi.
00:56:33Hey.
00:56:34Good to see so many familiar faces in the congregation today.
00:56:39I know the Lord is pleased with this attendance.
00:56:43I want to start off today's sermon with Hebrews 4, verse 2.
00:56:46For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them
00:56:53because they were not united by faith with those who listened.
00:56:59For we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said.
00:57:06As in my anger, I swore, they shall not enter my rest, though his works were finished at the foundation of the womb.
00:57:16How long should we know about Ms. Weston's last day?
00:57:17For in one place, it speaks about the seventh day.
00:57:19Not a lot.
00:57:20The Lord is leading us to Ms. Weston's last supper, if you will.
00:57:24God rested on the seventh day for all his work.
00:57:29And again in this slate.
00:57:33Shall we pray?
00:57:34Yes.
00:57:37Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for my two beautiful granddaughters,
00:57:42for this time together and for this food.
00:57:44Let it bless and nourish our bodies.
00:57:47In Jesus' name we pray.
00:57:49Amen.
00:57:50Amen.
00:57:51This looks amazing.
00:57:54Turn it down on our stove.
00:57:56Hey, you made the sauce.
00:57:57True.
00:57:59Wait.
00:58:02Is this...
00:58:04Nana's secret sauce?
00:58:05Oh.
00:58:07You kept it.
00:58:08Mm-hmm.
00:58:09I don't have a lot of memories of her,
00:58:11but getting to cook with her recipes, read her handwriting,
00:58:14it's...
00:58:15I don't know.
00:58:16It's special.
00:58:17Having someone from the past you're connected to.
00:58:20Mm-hmm.
00:58:21You remind me a lot of Cora.
00:58:23You have her eyes, her spirit.
00:58:25She never took no for an answer either.
00:58:27Yeah.
00:58:28She would be very proud of the women you two have grown up to be.
00:58:33I know I am.
00:58:34Oh, I am so thankful you both are here.
00:58:39Life's best journeys lead you home.
00:58:42What was that?
00:58:52What?
00:58:53Zeke calling you well after school hours.
00:58:56Oh, that is nothing.
00:58:58Mm-hmm.
00:58:58Okay, fine.
00:59:00He asked for my help planning the school play this year.
00:59:03He usually heads up the whole thing, but I guess he's a bit...
00:59:05Uh-huh.
00:59:06Overworked and he's an extra set of hands.
00:59:08Or he wants to spend time with you.
00:59:11You gonna do it?
00:59:11I don't know.
00:59:13You should totally do it.
00:59:14Give me your phone.
00:59:14Is that too much?
00:59:24No?
00:59:24Okay.
00:59:26You won't regret it.
00:59:29He's excited for us to work together.
00:59:33So do we start planning the wedding now or do we do it later?
00:59:39With the first clue being so obvious and the second clue seemingly being a dead end,
00:59:44it...
00:59:45And we will pick this up later.
00:59:48Hey.
00:59:49According to her phone records and the last address entered into her GPS,
00:59:54Miss Weston's last supper was at a soup kitchen.
01:00:02You're welcome.
01:00:03You're welcome.
01:00:05God bless you.
01:00:07You're welcome.
01:00:11Hi.
01:00:11Can I help you?
01:00:12Hi.
01:00:13Yes, I'm Abby Brooks.
01:00:15I called about Marion Weston.
01:00:16Oh, of course.
01:00:18God rest her soul.
01:00:24Came here the night before she passed.
01:00:26Gave us the biggest blessing the Lord could give.
01:00:29What do you mean?
01:00:30This kitchen has been around for decades.
01:00:32But the past few years, it's been hard for us.
01:00:36Night before she passed, she gave us this.
01:00:39May I?
01:00:40It doesn't look like much, but what was inside was exactly what we needed.
01:00:47More than we needed.
01:00:51Whoa.
01:00:52That is a generous donation.
01:01:00Proverbs chapter 22, verse 5.
01:01:03Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked.
01:01:05Whoever guards his soul will keep far from them.
01:01:11We're on the right track.
01:01:13Thank you.
01:01:14Oh, no.
01:01:15No, you go ahead and keep that, dear.
01:01:18I believe the Lord speaks to us through scripture, and he clearly guided you to that verse.
01:01:23Thank you.
01:01:24Yeah, you're welcome.
01:01:28Thorns and snares.
01:01:29Thorns and snares.
01:01:30Oh.
01:01:31Oh, I'm so sorry.
01:01:33Thorns and snares.
01:01:34Thorns and snares.
01:01:35What has thorns and snares?
01:01:37I want us to be really sure before making any moves, okay?
01:01:40Of course.
01:01:41Just, I can't have anything happen to you.
01:01:42I will be careful.
01:01:45I promise.
01:01:47Calling all units.
01:01:48Calling all units.
01:01:49I gotta go.
01:01:50Sorry.
01:01:50It's okay.
01:01:51Okay.
01:01:51I'll, uh, see you later?
01:01:53Yeah, see you later.
01:01:53All right.
01:01:55Sincere students.
01:01:56And we have promising leads in John Gray and Theo and...
01:02:07I think we're really onto something.
01:02:10Look, Abby, the idea has a unique angle with a good hook, but that's if it was a murder.
01:02:16But there's no evidence of that.
01:02:18Just some Bible verses.
01:02:20That are leading me somewhere.
01:02:22Do you have this week's episode for the John and Benson case?
01:02:25Yeah, I sent it to you.
01:02:26No, you didn't.
01:02:27Oh, Hannah, I'm, I'm so sorry.
01:02:30I'm sending it now.
01:02:31Abby, we cannot have you making mistakes like this.
01:02:34I know.
01:02:35I'm so sorry.
01:02:35It won't happen again.
01:02:36I can guarantee.
01:02:37With listenership dipping, I need you to focus.
01:02:41Drop the Weston story.
01:02:42Finish the Benson story.
01:02:44But, Hannah...
01:02:45This is not up for discussion.
01:02:47Finish out the season, and we will be in touch with next steps.
01:02:52Are you firing?
01:02:54We're just exploring taking the show in a different direction.
01:02:58This season's ratings are low.
01:03:00They're low because the Benson case isn't a real mystery.
01:03:04It was basically already solved before I started investigating it, and the listeners know that.
01:03:09We need to give them what they want, which is us actually helping somebody.
01:03:13And we can do that with Ms. Weston's case.
01:03:15We have the opportunity to make a real difference here.
01:03:18Finish the season, Abby, and then we will consider this partnership officially terminated.
01:03:23Dear Lord, look, I don't know how to do this anymore,
01:03:48but I feel so lost.
01:03:52Everything is...
01:03:53Working with Matt and seeing his faith and the faith of Ms. Weston and my grandfathers.
01:04:04They trust you so much, and I want that, that relationship.
01:04:14But I don't know where to start.
01:04:18So, help me with my unbelief.
01:04:34Our competition is back.
01:04:54Hands or I can see them!
01:04:55We kept our relationship private, because it's a small town, people talk.
01:05:05But, there's something going on with her at the end.
01:05:09She got cryptic before she passed.
01:05:12I just, I just wanted to find out what happened.
01:05:17Come on, John.
01:05:18I'll take you home.
01:05:19Thorns and snares.
01:05:31You were onto something, John Gray.
01:05:49You were onto something, John Gray.
01:05:51Get out of there.
01:05:57Oof.
01:06:11Oh!
01:06:13rosy!
01:06:16我不 sure you're talking...
01:06:17¡Suscríbete al canal!
01:06:47No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
01:07:17Matt, please.
01:07:20There is nothing here. We're done.
01:07:21No, but we're so close. We are so close.
01:07:24We're done.
01:07:24But Matt, please.
01:07:25That's Officer McAdams.
01:07:47You've reached Officer Matt McAdams. Sorry, I couldn't take your call. Please leave me a message. I'll get right back to you.
01:07:59Hey, it's me. Uh, again. I just... Call me back, please. I really need to talk to you.
01:08:08The podcast distributor pulled the plug, so I'm out of a job. And Matt, I mean, he won't talk to me.
01:08:18And I'm no closer to actually figuring out what happened to Miss Weston. I just... I feel so lost.
01:08:25You know, God gave you these gifts, Abby. Everything you're experiencing is not a mistake.
01:08:34When was the last time you prayed?
01:08:36Every time I do, I feel ridiculous. Like I'm speaking into the void. Like, God's not listening.
01:08:45No, he's always listening. It sounds to me like you need to slow down and give the Lord space to speak to you.
01:08:52The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
01:08:58Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged.
01:09:03Oh, uh, just a moment.
01:09:08I'm sorry. That's my two o'clock.
01:09:09No, no.
01:09:10The church will be empty until choir practice tonight.
01:09:15Just saying.
01:09:19Thank you.
01:09:20All right.

01:10:07Deuteronomy 31, 8-9
01:10:11The Lord Himself goes before you
01:10:15and He will be with you.
01:10:17He will never leave you nor forsake you.
01:10:21Do not be afraid and do not be discouraged.
01:10:25You know, this is the first place I come to when I feel lost
01:10:29or a bit off path.
01:10:30It helps me to recenter
01:10:32and the Lord never fails to guide me in the right direction.
01:10:37Yeah.
01:10:39I'm really coming in here right now.
01:10:41Well, there's a difference in our lives
01:10:44when we're following our own self
01:10:46versus following the guidance of the Lord.
01:10:50If there's something on your heart,
01:10:52something gnawing at you,
01:10:57that's the Lord.
01:11:01He's trying to tell you
01:11:03and guide you in the right direction.
01:11:06Don't ignore it, dear.
01:11:07For if you forgive others when they sin against you,
01:11:28your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
01:11:31Matthew chapter 6, verse 14.
01:11:41You're really good at this, aren't you, God?
01:11:43Hey, um...
01:11:59Can you meet?
01:12:04And I shouldn't have taken it out on you.
01:12:06I know that you were hurting just as much as I was
01:12:09and I wish I could have gotten out of my own way,
01:12:11out of my own grief
01:12:13to love you through yours.
01:12:15You did the best you could, Abby.
01:12:18I'll never fault you for that.
01:12:19I'm just...
01:12:21I'm so sorry
01:12:23for all of it.
01:12:25I forgive you.
01:12:26And I'm sorry for my part in this, too.
01:12:30I could have been kinder.
01:12:31I could have shown more grace.
01:12:32It's just...
01:12:33I really wish I could have been what you needed.
01:12:36Even if we were perfect,
01:12:38I don't think it would have changed the outcome.
01:12:41The grief,
01:12:42it allowed us to see the cracks that were already there
01:12:45long before we lost the baby.
01:12:49I want you to be happy, Abby.
01:12:51You deserve love just as much as anyone else.
01:12:53It's out of you, Ross.
01:13:01These are for you.
01:13:06Thanks.
01:13:06So have you and Marie set a date yet?
01:13:09Oh, don't get me started.
01:13:19I'm aware of that.
01:13:21I'm doing the best job that I can.
01:13:23No!
01:13:23If I did,
01:13:25then we would already have it.
01:13:27And we'd be done with this already.
01:13:35Penny,
01:13:35do you have a minute?
01:13:37What's on your mind, Abby?
01:13:38Do you know what this business card is for?
01:13:43Where on earth did you get this?
01:13:46It was in a lamp.
01:13:47I'd recognize this logo anywhere.
01:13:50This law firm, Rebecca Gardner.
01:13:54Terrible woman.
01:13:56Never met her.
01:13:57But she scammed my cousin Lucy out of thousands of dollars.
01:14:01What?
01:14:01How?
01:14:02She was in an accident.
01:14:03She was in an accident.
01:14:03A hit and run.
01:14:05She's fine, thank goodness.
01:14:07But her attorney, Rebecca Gardner, convinced her to settle out of court.
01:14:12She did.
01:14:12But she never received the settlement money.
01:14:15She tried to fight it, but they had records, proof somehow, that they paid my cousin when they never did.
01:14:21She tried to sue, but didn't have the resources.
01:14:26They bled her dry.
01:14:29Do you think Miss Weston was working with Rebecca Gardner?
01:14:32Oh, gosh.
01:14:34I certainly hope not.
01:14:36If so, that money she was setting aside for Theo is likely long gone.
01:14:51So, we'll put men's business here.
01:15:19Women's business there.
01:15:23And all those pieces that are a little worse for wear, we'll put here to donate to that company that reuses fabrics.
01:15:29Great.
01:15:30This is a ton of donations, Papa.
01:15:33I've been collecting them for over a year.
01:15:35Job fair is next weekend, and I want to make sure that we have everything we need to help anyone in our community better their working life,
01:15:42including a proper interview outfit.
01:15:46I think that's really cool.
01:15:49Can I ask you guys something?
01:15:51Yeah.
01:15:52Have you ever, um, this is going to sound insane, but have you ever been visited by an angel?
01:16:04Yeah.
01:16:05Many times.
01:16:06Wait, really?
01:16:06If you've been visited by one, that is a good thing.
01:16:11They are messengers sent from God to help you.
01:16:16Well, helpful they were.
01:16:21I met with Ross.
01:16:22How'd it go?
01:16:27Really well.
01:16:29Yeah.
01:16:29Let's just say the message from God was loud and clear.
01:16:31The chicken cup.
01:16:44What?
01:16:45Um, I will be right back.
01:16:47I am, I'm so sorry.
01:16:48I'm so sorry.
01:16:54Matt, look, I know you're upset with me, and I totally understand, but I figured out what the last verse meant.
01:16:59I'm heading to Miss Weston's house now.
01:17:01¡Ah!
01:17:31¡Ah!
01:17:33¡Ah!
01:17:34¡Ah!
01:17:35¡Ah!
01:17:36¡Ah!
01:17:37¡Ah!
01:17:38¡Ah!
01:17:39¡Ah!
01:17:40I figured out what the last verse meant.
01:17:41I'm heading to Miss Weston's house now.
01:17:47Hi, you've reached Abby Brooks.
01:17:48Please leave a message.
01:17:51Hey, Carson.
01:17:52Can you let the Chief know I'm gonna do a well check in Miss Weston's house?
01:17:55Where is it?
01:18:07What?
01:18:08I know you know where it is.
01:18:10The new will.
01:18:11Marian made one.
01:18:12I found this letter in the coop.
01:18:14I know you know where it is!
01:18:16I don't know. I don't know what you're talking about.
01:18:18Where's Cammy?
01:18:20Where's Cammy? What did you do to her?
01:18:25Cammy!
01:18:26Stop.
01:18:27Stop.
01:18:28Stop.
01:18:31She might let you live.
01:18:33If you let me know where the will is.
01:18:35Please.
01:18:36Please.
01:18:37Please.
01:18:38Please.
01:18:39Please.
01:18:41I don't wanna hurt anyone else.
01:18:42What?
01:18:46Rebecca.
01:18:50I need that will, Abby.
01:18:52And I know you know where it is.
01:18:59I am done playing games.
01:19:01I will do whatever it takes.
01:19:05Hey, Becky, come. Let's calm down.
01:19:11Police! Hands up!
01:19:13No.
01:19:18No.
01:19:19No.
01:19:20Please.
01:19:21No.
01:19:22No.
01:19:23No.
01:19:24Please.
01:19:25Please.
01:19:26Please.
01:19:27No.
01:19:28I'm so sorry.
01:19:29No.
01:19:30No.
01:19:31I'm sorry.
01:19:32Let me cut you free.
01:19:44Time.
01:19:45I'm not for you.
01:19:46No.
01:19:47But you are under arrest.
01:20:13No.
01:20:15After years of searching, Miss Weston finally made contact with who she believed to be her real son.
01:20:20They began corresponding the letters, but one day, Ms. Weston noticed something was off.
01:20:28The handwriting had changed.
01:20:30And when the writer, claiming to be Theo, asked Ms. Weston to send the letters to a P.O. box instead of the address,
01:20:37Ms. Weston started to have her doubts.
01:20:39She mailed the next letter to his address, but got no response.
01:20:43So she tried the P.O. box, and communication resumed, but she knew something wasn't right.
01:20:49She also had her doubts about her estate attorney, Rebecca Gardner.
01:20:54She'd filed a complaint against Rebecca after reviewing her financial statements, where she found some discrepancies.
01:21:01Which led to an investigation that ultimately shut down her firm.
01:21:05Rebecca knew about Ms. Weston's communication with her biological son and about her millions,
01:21:10so she set up a plan.
01:21:12Intercept the letters, and, since they had never met in person, find a fake Theo and get rid of Ms. Weston,
01:21:19to steal her fortune.
01:21:20She blackmailed her ex-boyfriend, a doctor with a bit of a shady past,
01:21:25into using his medical background and posing as fake Theo.
01:21:29To get rid of Ms. Weston so they could claim the money she set aside for her son,
01:21:33and if he helped her, they'd split the fortune.
01:21:36Or so Rebecca told him.
01:21:38Ms. Weston was communicating with the fake Theo for months.
01:21:41She had her doubts, so she tried to contact Theo using the old address,
01:21:45but they were intercepted by Rebecca.
01:21:48She'd shared this information with John Gray,
01:21:51who was doing what he could to help her, even if he didn't know all of the details.
01:21:55And she wanted to return the favor.
01:21:57Ms. Weston was suspicious, so she hid the whereabouts of her fortune in a place no one would find it,
01:22:17even her crooked estate manager, in her first home in Prescott,
01:22:21along with the addresses for who she believed to be her real son
01:22:25and set me up with everything I would need to track it all down
01:22:29if I had a little faith.
01:22:33Your drive up was okay?
01:22:35You guys didn't hit any traffic or anything?
01:22:37Thank you guys for being here.
01:22:38This is so exciting.
01:22:39Guys, this is Theo, the real Theo.
01:22:43How nice to meet you, son.
01:22:44Welcome to Prescott.
01:22:45You sure it's a real one this time?
01:22:51You and I both know you saw the DNA test.
01:22:55Hey, I'm sorry for doubting you.
01:22:57Oh, it's okay.
01:22:58I truly doubted myself.
01:23:00What got you back on track?
01:23:01Well, let's just say I got a not-so-subtle hint.
01:23:07You know, now that you'll likely have some free time on your hands,
01:23:10what do you say about dinner?
01:23:12And no great pizza spot.
01:23:13Only if you promise me that we get one of every topping
01:23:16in the correct grouping.
01:23:18Hmm.
01:23:19Here we go.
01:23:21Oh.
01:23:22Oh.
01:23:22Take that.
01:23:23Sorry.
01:23:23No.
01:23:24I'll be quick.
01:23:24Take it.
01:23:24I'll be quick.
01:23:29Hannah.
01:23:30Hi.
01:23:31I just read an article on the Weston case.
01:23:33You were right.
01:23:34I should have trusted your gut.
01:23:36Listen, I think we were a bit rash in removing you from the lineup.
01:23:39We'd love to have you-
01:23:40Actually, Hannah, I-
01:23:41I want my own show.
01:23:44One that I'm in charge of.
01:23:46What about faith?
01:23:47About how it leads people to do incredible things,
01:23:50have incredible breakthroughs,
01:23:52and maybe even solve a mystery or two.
01:23:57I love it.
01:23:58A great way to reach a niche market with a solid hook
01:24:00that I think you would be perfect for.
01:24:02I also loved Officer McAdams' insights.
01:24:07He had a great voice, and you two had chemistry.
01:24:10He'd be a great recurring guest.
01:24:12What do you think?
01:24:13I think I can pull some strings to make that happen.
01:24:15Wonderful.
01:24:16I'd love to help with distribution.
01:24:18Let's find a time to talk Monday.
01:24:20Sounds good.
01:24:26Good news?
01:24:27The best.
01:24:33I've wanted to do that for a decade.
01:24:34You've been searching back in time.
01:24:54Put back together your peace of mind.
01:24:59And to those who know your name,
01:25:22put their trust in you.
01:25:24For you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
01:25:28Psalm chapter 9, verse 10.
01:25:33Thank you, Lord, for all the guidance.
01:25:35Keep it up, please.
01:25:37I need it.
01:25:38I've been hiding in plain sight, frozen empty in the light.
01:25:48I've been hiding in plain sight, frozen empty in the light.
01:26:01You gave it all.
01:26:03You gave it all.
01:26:04It slipped away.
01:26:07Don't look back.
01:26:10That's not the way.
01:26:13Nothing's holding you back.
01:26:17Feel alive.
01:26:20Head for the sky.
01:26:23Can I lift you up to a better place?
01:26:47You can't turn back time.
01:26:52Just move forward one step at a time.
01:26:58We need each other.
01:27:01I'm searching too.
01:27:04I'm not superior.
01:27:06Just wandering like you.
01:27:09Just wandering like you.
01:27:09Gracias.
