00:00Samsung's first triple folding phone is here, and we've already had the chance to try it out.
00:04So in this video I'm going to tell you what it's like to have it up close and what we thought of it.
00:10Hey guys, I'm Francisco Franconi, and Samsung has taken a step forward with a unique product,
00:14which is appreciated because at this point we can say that the phones look quite similar to each other.
00:20Although, disclaimer, Samsung wasn't the first brand to do so.
00:23Huawei already introduced its Huawei Mate XT Ultimate design last year.
00:27As for the Galaxy Z Trifold, we're talking about a phone that measures 6.1 inches when it's closed,
00:32and which expands to a substantial 10 inches when you unfold it.
00:35It's practically like a tablet.
00:38To do this, it has 2 inches of different sizes with a double rail system to ensure smooth movement when opening and closing the device.
00:45In fact, it's super interesting. It's as if it protects itself. Do you understand?
00:49When you try to close it the wrong way, the phone warns you with a kind of vibration and an on-screen notification.
00:53Come on, make sure you do the right movement so as not to damage it.
00:56Once you grab this and open it calmly, you realize that when unfolded, the Trifold makes sense.
01:02When you hold it in your hand, you see that it offers great space to have several apps open and multitask,
01:07something that in my opinion sometimes feels a bit limited in smaller foldables.
01:10And in case you were wondering, yes, the wrinkles of the folds are noticeable and visible when light enters them from an angle,
01:15but we do not believe that this affects the lights.
01:17Since I mentioned the Huawei Mate XT, it is worth highlighting a difference between them.
01:21While the Huawei can be used partially open, that is, with two panels, the Samsung Trifold only supports two positions,
01:28fully open or fully folded.
01:31And in terms of brightness, the inner screen has fewer nits,
01:341600 nits versus the 2600 nits it has when folded.
01:38We tested it yesterday afternoon and it was already dark,
01:40so I don't know how it would feel with the light shining on it.
01:43Inside the test room where we were, the experience was good.
01:45The frame combines titanium and aluminum, materials found in the brand's most advanced foldables,
01:51while the back uses a reinforced polymer capable of reducing the risk of cracks.
01:55And the truth is that it feels solid.
01:56You can tell that Samsung has focused on how the pieces are assembled
01:59and on instilling a certain amount of confidence when handling it.
02:02I also find it interesting how they've distributed the battery so that the energy delivery is balanced.
02:06Let's say it's divided into three cells.
02:08That way, they manage to make it thin despite having three parts.
02:11And with them, it achieves a battery life of 5,600 meters.
02:13To put it in context, an iPhone 17 Pro is 8 millimeters thick.
02:18The thickness of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures 8.9 millimeters,
02:22whereas its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 from last year, is 12.1 millimeters thick.
02:28And that was even though it only had two screens, not three.
02:32Also, the three screens aren't exactly the same thickness.
02:35The first one is 3.9 millimeters, the second one 4.2 millimeters, and the last one 4 millimeters.
02:40But let's be honest, you can tell how it feels in your hand.
02:43It's neither light nor discreet, although when you open it,
02:46the way is better distributed, and it does feel manageable.
02:50However, I wonder what it would be like to use it in everyday life, in everyday activities.
02:54The folding and unfolding action, although as I said feels solid, also calls for caution.
02:59So I can't see myself opening it on the street to check a map, unlike with a book-style fold.
03:03I do feel a little more comfortable there, because it's not such a cumbersome process and doesn't require so much tension.
03:09Inside the Galaxy Z Trifold is the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
03:12I'd like to tell you that I've had the chance to thoroughly test whether it's enough to move this three-screen beast with an app on each one,
03:18because there's certainly space.
03:20But in that first contact, time was very limited to venture to give you a fully-formed opinion.
03:25A brown sofa can be a very good option. It is warm, and goes well together.
03:30What is clear is that this is not a mobile for the majority.
03:32It is a device for those who prioritize work, but it is a smart move by Samsung,
03:37because it arrives with the product in this segment, that of triple foldables,
03:40which is almost empty, and with the expertise in manufacturing foldables that it has had for years.
03:44In short, I think it is a job very well done.
03:47But there are obvious limits that they will have to improve.
03:50In reality, it is the same thing that happened with the first conventional foldables.
03:54They just needed a little time to be polished, and now they are super mature.
03:57And if you have come this far and want to buy this trifold,
04:00you should know that for now, it will only be launched in the countries that I have listed below,
04:03for around €3,594,000, which would be €1,500, the exchange rate.
04:09I would like to know what you think, Yarekwe, about this new foldable from Samsung,
04:12if you think you would get the most out of it, or if you prefer a more traditional mobile format.
04:15Thanks for watching.
