00:00Heathcliff is gone, you must accept it.
00:02First impressions are everything.
00:04Welcome to WatchMojo and today, we're counting down art picks for films coming out in the
00:10next year that already don't look promising.
00:13Pigs and humans, working together, I like the optics.
00:17Oh, we love the optics.
00:1910.
00:20Moana What can we say except no thank you?
00:25When the animated version of Moana hit theaters in 2016, it was an instant smash hit.
00:31Though the sequel wasn't as acclaimed, it was still a welcome addition to the series.
00:39The same can't be said for the live action remake of the original.
00:46The teaser was met with backlash from fans who decried the project's lack of originality
00:51and accused Disney of only caring about profit.
00:53Other aspects were mercilessly critiqued as well, from the actress's hair to the unnatural
00:58look of the setting.
00:59The remake seems to have already set a course for a creative failure, and only time will
01:03tell if it will elevate the original or just make it look even better in comparison.
01:099.
01:12In the Grey On paper, this has everything going for it.
01:16An experienced director, a cast of A-list actors including Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal,
01:20Rosamund Pike, and an intriguing premise, yet Guy Ritchie's In The Grey may be ruined
01:25before it even drops.
01:34It was pulled in late 2024 due to reshoots getting delayed indefinitely due to scheduling
01:39conflicts amongst the cast and crew.
01:41It was eventually announced that it would premiere in 2026 as is, meaning the principal's
01:46shots would be the final cut.
01:50Any issues that may have been fixed will be left, which could negatively impact the quality.
01:55All we can do is wait and see if Ritchie's rough draft will hold up to the scrutiny of
02:00audiences and critics.
02:018.
02:02Killer Whale The concept of a movie centered around
02:06a captive orca going rogue could appeal to everyone from animal activists to campy horror
02:11lovers.
02:12However, Killer Whale so far seems like the worst way to execute it.
02:19The trailer shows a variety of quality issues including flat cinematography, cliché writing,
02:24and cheesy special effects.
02:31Even small aspects such as the antagonist's dorsal fin size are incorrect, giving off the
02:36impression that the filmmakers didn't do their homework.
02:39It also didn't do much to differentiate itself from other ocean-set horror flicks, and relying
02:44on those clichés could make it entirely forgettable.
02:47While the final product could end up being better than the trailer lets on, for now it's
02:51not looking good.
02:567.
02:57Street Fighter It's been said that those who can't remember
03:00the past are often doomed to repeat it.
03:02That sentiment applies to movies, with the upcoming Street Fighter flick serving as the
03:06perfect example.
03:08Despite being a highly successful video game series, the film adaptations left something to
03:12be desired.
03:17Both released more than a decade apart were critical bombs, only time would tell how those
03:26aspects will hold up in the newest version.
03:28The 2026 installment is also taking a big swing with its cast, with an eclectic mix of celebrities
03:34ranging in acting experience and abilities.
03:37While these risks could ultimately pay off, it seems this installment may go the same way as
03:41its predecessors.
03:426.
03:43The Sheep Detectives This adaptation of Leonie Swann's 2005 novel
03:52Three Bags Full might be straight up bad.
03:55Punts aside, The Sheep Detectives is already shaping up to be one of the most ridiculous movies
04:05of 2026, just by the trailer alone.
04:07It follows a herd of sheep attempting to solve the murder of their shepherd, and the crazy
04:16antics that come with it.
04:18While the odd premise was well received in book form, it might not work on screen.
04:22It's also a sharp departure from director Craig Mazin's previously acclaimed work, leading
04:30some to wonder if he'll be able to stick the landing with a high concept comedy.
04:35While it could be an unexpected hit, it has the markings of an eventual critical flop.
04:415.
04:42The Mummy This is proof that Little in Hollywood is
04:48truly set in stone.
04:53For most of its production, Lee Cronin's The Mummy was set to serve as a reboot to the
04:57remake series.
04:58However, in late 2025, it was announced that Universal will continue to franchise itself.
05:04Anonymous sources claim this was due to Cronin's version performing poorly during a test screening,
05:13with viewers reportedly complaining it was too intense for the series.
05:16As a result, the project has allegedly been retooled to avoid ties to the original property.
05:22With an unapologetically dark plot and no nostalgia to bake on, its journey to success will be an
05:27uphill battle.
05:324.
05:33The Social Reckoning From the acting to writing to the direction,
05:36it's clear to see why The Social Network is considered a modern-day classic.
05:44You'd think a follow-up centered around the same person would maintain the elements people
05:48adored most, but The Social Reckoning is making the bold move to alter everything.
05:55While a plot centered around the 2021 Facebook data leak sounds interesting, not bringing back
06:00David Fincher to direct or Jesse Eisenberg to star as Mark Zuckerberg leaves it open to
06:04endless comparisons.
06:06With the latter in particular doing so well, all eyes will be on Jeremy Strong to see how
06:11he stacks up.
06:12With the expectations being so high, there's a strong chance the sequel may not live up to
06:17them at all.
06:183.
06:19Animal Farm
06:22Considering a faithful adaptation has been done before, it's incredible that the 2026 interpretation
06:27could miss the point so badly.
06:29What does that say?
06:30Laugh at your house!
06:31That sounds awesome!
06:32I love to laugh!
06:33George Orwell's Animal Farm has been beloved for generations, primarily for his satirical
06:39critiques of dictatorship and extreme regimes.
06:42The 1954 version managed to pull off the original themes well, while also including some whimsical
06:47animation.
06:48The upcoming rendition by Andy Serkis, however, seems to be putting all its eggs into the comedy
06:53basket.
06:54With a trailer full of forced quips and the addition of a new human villain, it seems they
07:03completely misunderstood the original.
07:05While some are hoping the final product will have a more serious tone, some have already
07:16accepted that this will be a watered-down take on the literary classic.
07:232.
07:24Wuthering Heights
07:252026 may be the year of butchered film adaptations of classic novels.
07:34This new interpretation of Wuthering Heights from Promising Young Woman and Saltburn writer-director
07:39Emeril Fennell seems to have fallen victim to this as well, with fans already pointing
07:43out several differences from the novel.
07:45The complaints have been unending.
07:52Some are convinced that Margot Robbie is too mature to play Catherine, while others feel
07:56that Jacob Elordi portraying Heathcliff whitewashes the role.
08:00Others have been put off by the erotic tone of the trailers, leading to fears that the dark
08:04motifs will be swapped out for a purely romantic tale.
08:07While the final product could subvert people's expectations, it seems that the 1939 version
08:12may continue to reign supreme.
08:17Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few dishonorable mentions.
08:21The Strangers Chapter 3 The third installment being full of fanservice
08:25could sink the franchise entirely.
08:34The cat in the hat!
08:35It feels more like the introduction of a Dr. Seuss extended universe than a fateful reboot.
08:43Flower Veil Street With so little being confirmed, it's hard
08:51to believe the end product will be good.
08:54Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified

09:04If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
09:26Yet, the upcoming 2026 reboot of the classic cartoon does that and more with its retelling
09:32of the hero's origin story.
09:34Rather than expand upon his actual universe Eternia, the adaptation will reportedly follow
09:38his journey on Earth as a seemingly normal office worker.
09:47This has left fans worried that the movie will try too hard to be gritty and realistic rather
09:51than fun or campy.
09:53With the capabilities of modern special effects, creating Eternia and making it the setting would
09:57have been just as easy.
10:05The option they went for had led some to write off the film before the first trailer has even
10:09been released.
