00:00There's something I need to tell you today, and I need you to really hear me when I say this.
00:07You were not born to be average.
00:09I know what some of you might be thinking right now.
00:12You're thinking about your circumstances.
00:16You're thinking about where you came from, what you don't have, what you didn't get, who told you that you couldn't.
00:24You're thinking about all the reasons why extraordinary doesn't apply to you.
00:29But let me tell you something I've learned after all these years of living and breathing and falling down and getting back up again.
00:38The thing that makes you think you're ordinary is the very thing that makes you extraordinary.
00:44You see, we've been sold this idea that average is safe, that blending in is comfortable, that not standing up means you won't get knocked down.
00:55And so we make ourselves smaller, we dim our light, we apologize for our dreams, we let other people's limited vision become our reality.
01:05But deep down, in that place where truth lies, you know, you know you were meant for something more.
01:12I'm not talking about fame.
01:14I'm not talking about fortune, though there's nothing wrong with either of those things.
01:20I'm talking about that purpose that's been planted inside you like a seed, that thing you do that makes time disappear, that dream you've been carrying around that you're almost embarrassed to say out loud because it seems too big, too impossible, too much.
01:38That's not average talking.
01:40That's your calling.
01:41And here's what I know for sure, every single person who has ever done anything worth remembering started out being told it couldn't be done.
01:51They were too young, too old, too poor, too uneducated, wrong color, wrong gender, wrong side of the tracks.
01:59But they had something that statistics couldn't measure.
02:02They had the audacity to believe they were meant for more.
02:06Now, I want to be real with you about something.
02:09Choosing not to be average isn't easy.
02:13In fact, it's the hardest thing you'll ever do because average doesn't ask much of you.
02:20Average lets you sleep in.
02:21Average doesn't require you to face your fears or challenge your excuses or do the work when nobody's watching.
02:29But extraordinary, extraordinary demands everything you've got.
02:34It demands that you show up even when you're scared.
02:37It demands that you keep going even when everyone else has stopped believing.
02:43It demands that you look at failure not as a stop sign but as a stepping stone.
02:48Every setback, every closed door, every no, they're not there to stop you.
02:54They're there to test how badly you want it.
02:56And I'll tell you what else choosing extraordinary means.
03:01It means you're going to have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
03:06Growth and comfort cannot coexist.
03:08You cannot expand your life without expanding yourself.
03:12That means facing the parts of you that you've been hiding from.
03:17That means having hard conversations.
03:20That means taking risks that terrify you.
03:22But here's the beautiful part.
03:25When you finally decide to stop playing small.
03:28When you finally give yourself permission to be everything you are created to be.
03:33Something shifts.
03:35Not just in your life.
03:37But in the lives of everyone around you.
03:40Because your breakthrough becomes their breakthrough.
03:43Your courage gives them permission to be courageous.
03:48Your light illuminates the panels for someone else who's still stumbling in the dark.
03:53See, this isn't just about you.
03:55When you choose to live an extraordinary life, you're not being selfish.
04:00You're being of service.
04:02Because the world doesn't need more people who have made peace with mediocrity.
04:07The world needs people who are brave enough to color outside the lines.
04:12To ask questions that make others uncomfortable.
04:16To build bridges where others see walls.
04:19Now, I want you to think about something.
04:22Think about the end of your life.
04:24You're looking back at all the years you've been given.
04:28What do you want to see?
04:30Do you want to see someone who played it safe?
04:33Someone who let fear make all their decisions.
04:35Someone who spent their whole life wondering,
04:39What if?
04:40Or do you want to see someone who went for it?
04:43Someone who fell down seven times and got up eight.
04:47Someone who wasn't perfect but was brave.
04:50Someone who lived so fully and authentically that they inspired others to do the same.
04:56The choice is yours.
04:58It's always been yours.
04:59And here's what I need you to understand.
05:02You already have everything you need to start.
05:05You don't need permission.
05:08You don't need more time, more money, more credentials.
05:11You need to decide.
05:13You need to commit.
05:15You need to take the first step even if you can't see the whole staircase.
05:19Because average, average is a choice.
05:23It's choosing comfort over calling.
05:25It's choosing fear over faith.
05:27It's choosing what is over what could be.
05:29But you, you were born for what could be.
05:33You were born to break generational curses.
05:36You were born to speak truth when it's easier to stay silent.
05:40You were born to create beauty in a world that often feels broken.
05:45You were born to love bigger, dream louder, and stand taller than anyone ever told you was possible.
05:50So, today, I'm asking you to make a different choice.
05:56Choose extraordinary.
05:57Not because it's easy, but because you were never meant to be contained by what's comfortable.
06:04You were meant to soar.
06:05And, when you finally spread those wings you've been keeping folded up,
06:11the whole world will look up and wonder how they ever missed,
06:15seeing that you were always meant to fly.
06:18You were not born to be average.
06:19You were born to be you.
06:22And that, my friend, is the most extraordinary thing of all.
06:26Now go show the world what you're made of.
06:28The safety of mediocrity is one of the most seductive traps that exists in human experience.
06:36Because it doesn't announce itself as a trap at all.
06:39It comes disguised as wisdom.
06:41It shows up dressed as practicality.
06:43It whispers in your ear that being reasonable is the same thing as being responsible.
06:50And that staying small is actually a form of humility,
06:53when in reality it's just fear wearing a more acceptable mask.
06:58From the time we're young, we're taught to call inside the lines.
07:01We're rewarded for fitting in and punished for standing out.
07:07We watch as the people around us who dare to be different get criticized or rejected or laughed at.
07:14And we make a silent agreement with ourselves that we'll never put ourselves in that position.
07:20We'll never be the one who reaches too high and falls too hard.
07:25We'll never be the fool who believed they could when everyone else knew they couldn't.
07:29And so we start making choices that keep us safe.
07:35We choose the major that makes sense instead of the one that makes our heart race.
07:40We take the job that pays the bills instead of the one that feeds our soul.
07:45We stay in relationships that are comfortable instead of pursuing connections that challenge us to grow.
07:52And bit by bit to build our life that looks perfectly fine from the outside but feels hollow on the inside.
08:00The truly dangerous thing about average is that it provides just enough satisfaction to keep you from seeking more.
08:08You can pay your rent.
08:10You can go on vacation once a year.
08:12You can maintain your routines and your rhythms and convince yourself that this is what contentment looks like.
08:19But contentment and complacency are not the same thing.
08:24Contentment is being at peace with where you are while still growing toward where you're meant to be.
08:31Complacency is settling for where you are because you're too afraid to risk what you have for what you could have.
08:39And here's what nobody tells you about playing it safe by staying average.
08:43It's actually not safe at all.
08:46You think you're protecting yourself from failure and disappointment and rejection.
08:52But what you're actually doing is guaranteeing a different kind of pain.
08:57The pain of regret.
08:59The pain of wondering what if.
09:00The pain of lying on your deathbed and realizing that you spent your entire life as a supporting character in your own story.
09:09Because you were too afraid to step into the leading role that was always meant for you.
09:16Every single day that you choose average, you're choosing to betray the person you were created to be.
09:23You're choosing to ignore that voice inside you that keeps whispering about something more.
09:29You're choosing to let your potential die unexpressed because the risk of trying felt bigger than the cost of not trying.
09:37But the mathematics of that equation are all wrong.
09:41The temporary discomfort of growth is nothing compared to the permanent age of unfulfilled potential.
09:48The world will encourage your averageness because average is easy to predict and control and categorize.
09:56Average doesn't threaten the status quo.
09:59Average doesn't ask uncomfortable questions.
10:01Average doesn't demand that systems change or that people think differently or that new.
10:08You were not born to be average.
10:10You were born to be you.
10:12And that, my friend, is the most extraordinary thing of all.
10:16Now go show the world what you're made of.
10:19The safety of mediocrity is one of the most seductive traps that exists in human experience because it doesn't announce itself as a trap at all.
10:29It comes disguised as wisdom.
10:31It shows up dressed as practicality.
10:33It whispers in your ear that being reasonable is the same thing as being responsible and that staying small is actually a form of humility when in reality it's just fear wearing a more acceptable mask.
10:48From the time we're young, we're taught to color inside the lines.
10:53We're rewarded for fitting in and punished for standing out.
10:56We watch as the people around us who dare to be different get criticized or rejected or laughed at and we make a silent agreement with ourselves that we'll never put ourselves in that position.
11:10We'll never be the one who reaches too high and falls too hard.
11:15We'll never be the fool who believed they could when everyone else knew they couldn't.
11:19And so we start making choices that keep us safe.
11:25We choose the major that makes sense instead of the one that makes our heart race.
11:30We take the job that pays the bills instead of the one that feeds our soul.
11:35We stay in relationships that are comfortable instead of pursuing connections that challenge us to grow.
11:42And bit by bit we build a life that looks perfectly fine from the outside but feels hollow on the inside.
11:50The truly dangerous thing about average is that it provides just enough satisfaction to keep you from seeking more.
11:58You can pay your rent.
12:00You can go on vacation once a year.
12:02You can maintain your routines and your rhythms and convince yourself that this is what contentment looks like.
12:10But contentment and complacency are not the same thing.
12:14Contentment is being at peace with where you are while still growing toward where you're meant to be.
12:21Complacency is settling for where you are because you're too afraid to risk what you have for what you could have.
12:29And here's what nobody tells you about playing it safe by staying average.
12:34It's actually not safe at all.
12:36You think you're protecting yourself from failure and disappointment and rejection but what you're actually doing is guaranteeing a different kind of pain.
12:47The pain of regret.
12:49The pain of lying on your deathbed and realizing that you spent your entire life as a supporting character in your own story
12:59because you were too afraid to step into the leading role that was always meant for you.
13:06Every single day that you choose average you're choosing to betray the person you were created to be.
13:13You're choosing to ignore that voice inside you that keeps whispering about something more.
13:19You're choosing to let your potential die unexpressed because the risk of trying felt bigger than the cost of not trying.
13:27But the mathematics of that equation are all wrong.
13:31The temporary discomfort of growth is conumped to the permanent age of unfulfilled potential.
13:38The world will encourage your averageness because average is easy to predict and control and categorize.
13:46Average doesn't threaten the status quo.
13:49Average doesn't ask uncomfortable questions.
13:51Average doesn't demand that systems change or that people think differently or that new possibilities be considered.
14:00Average is convenient for everyone except the person living it.
14:04And if you listen to the world's encouragement to stay small and safe and safe and sensible,
14:10you will wake up one day and realize that you traded the adventure of becoming,
14:15you were meant for the illusion of security that never actually existed in the first place.
14:19And you were meant first place.
14:23Choosing extraordinary over average isn't reckless.
14:27It's the most honest thing you can do.
14:29It's finally acknowledging that the hunger inside you for something more isn't a flaw to be fixed,
14:36but a compass pointing you toward your destiny.
14:39And the moment you decide that your calling matters more than your comfort
14:45is the moment your real life finally begins.
14:47There is a peculiar kind of mathematics that governs the universe and it defies every logical equation we've been taught.
14:56It's the mathematics where your deepest wounds become your greatest wisdom,
15:01where your most painful struggles transform into your most powerful testimonies.
15:07We are the very things you've spent your whole life trying to hide or fix or apologize for turn out to be the exact ingredients
15:15that make your contribution to this world unnecessary and profound.
15:22We spend so much energy trying to overcome our limitations.
15:25We look at where we came from and we see deficit.
15:30We look at what we didn't get and we see disadvantage.
15:33We look at the obstacles we faced and we see evidence of why we can't rather than proof of why we must.
15:40We compare our beginning to someone else's middle and we convince ourselves that we're starting too far behind to ever catch up.
15:49We let our scars become our excuses instead of recognizing them as our credentials.
15:56But here's what I've learned after watching countless people rise from places that statistics said they never could.
16:04The people who change the world are never the ones who had it easy.
16:09They're the ones who had to fight for every single inch.
16:12They're the ones who know what it feels like to underestimate or be underestimated and overlooked and counted out before they even got started.
16:22And that knowledge doesn't weaken them.
16:24It forges them into something unbreakable.
16:27When you've had to create opportunity instead of waiting for it to be handed to you,
16:33you develop a resourcefulness that people born with silver spoons will never possess.
16:39When you've had to prove yourself over and over again, you develop a work ethic that can't be taught in any classroom.
16:47When you've had to navigate systems that weren't designed for you to succeed,
16:52you develop an innovation and creativity that comes from necessity.
16:58Your disadvantages taught you things that advantage never could.
17:02Think about every person whose story has ever moved you.
17:06The ones who wrote books that changed your perspective or started movements that shifted culture
17:12or built businesses that created opportunities for others.
17:17Go back and look at their origin stories.
17:20You won't find privilege and ease and straight paths.
17:24You'll find rejection and failure and circumstances that should have destroyed them but instead refined them.
17:31You'll find people who took their mess and turned it into their message.
17:36People who took their pain and transformed it into their purpose.
17:41Your difference is not your disqualification.
17:44It's your distinction.
17:46The fact that you don't fit neatly into the boxes that society has created means you're meant to create new boxes.
17:52The fact that your journey looks different from everyone else's means you're pioneering a path that others will one day follow.
18:02The fact that you've had to overcome what you've overcome means you carry wisdom that can't be found in books
18:10or bought with money or inherited through privilege.
18:14But here's the critical part.
18:16Your limitations only become your superpowers when you stop running from them and start running with them.
18:24When you stop trying to be who you think you should be and start embracing who you actually are.
18:31When you stop apologizing for your story and start owning it as the very thing that qualifies you for your calling.
18:38The world doesn't need another person trying to be someone they're not.
18:43The world has enough people performing and pretending and contorting themselves to fit into molds.
18:50Into molds that were never meant for them.
18:53What the world needs is you.
18:55With your specific combination of experiences and perspectives and scars and strengths.
19:01With your unique understanding of what it means to rise from where you've risen from.
19:07With your particular flavor of courage that could only have been developed through facing what you've faced.
19:14That's not limitation.
19:16That's legacy waiting to be written.
19:19There comes a moment in every person's life when they have to make a choice that will define everything that comes after.
19:27It's the choice between what feels good right now and what means something forever.
19:32It's the choice between the life you can explain to everyone around you and the life that sets your soul on fire even if nobody else understands it.
19:43It's the choice between comfort and calling and make no mistake about it because these two things cannot coexist in the same space at the same time.
19:54Your calling is that persistent whisper that won't leave you alone.
19:58It's that dream you keep having even after life has given you every reason to stop dreaming.
20:05It's that thing you do where time disappears and you forget to eat and suddenly hours have passed and you look up wondering where the day went.
20:15It's that conversation you keep having with yourself at three in the morning about what you could do if you just had the courage to try.
20:24It's not loud and it's not demanding but it's constant, like a heartbeat, like breathing.
20:31It's always there reminding you that you were meant for something more than what you're currently accepting.
20:39But comfort is seductive in ways that calling never is.
20:43Comfort doesn't ask you to risk anything.
20:45Comfort lets you stay exactly where you are with it, exactly who you are without having to grow or stretch or face your fears.
20:53Comfort is the steady paycheck even though the work drains your spirit.
20:59Comfort is the relationship that's predictable even though it's not passionate.
21:04Comfort is the routine that requires nothing from you except that you keep showing up and going through the motions.
21:12And the most dangerous thing about comfort is that it's not terrible.
21:17It's just not transcendent.
21:19You can build an entire life around comfort and it will look completely acceptable to everyone watching.
21:26You'll have all the markers of success that society tells you matter.
21:31But inside there will be this growing restlessness.
21:35This sense that you're living someone else's life.
21:38This feeling that you're an actor playing a role instead of a person living their truth.
21:45And every year that passes the gap between who you are and who you were meant to be gets wider.
21:51And the voice of, I'm not going to stand here and tell you it's going to be easy because we both know that would be a lie.
22:00Choosing extraordinary is the hardest thing you'll ever do.
22:03It's going to ask you to keep going when every logical reason says you should stop.
22:14You're going to fail.
22:16You're going to be rejected.
22:18You're going to have moments where you question everything and wonder if you made a terrible mistake by leaving comfort behind.
22:26But I promise you this, the pain of growth is temporary but the pain of regret is forever.
22:33The discomfort of stepping into your calling will eventually transform into the deep satisfaction of knowing you didn't waste the life you were given.
22:44The fear you feel right now about pursuing something extraordinary will be nothing compared to the fear you'll feel later if you realize you never tried.
22:54And here's what else I know.
22:57You're stronger than you think you are.
22:59You're more capable than anyone ever told you.
23:03You're more deserving than you've allowed yourself to believe.
23:07Every single thing you've been through up until this moment has been preparing you for what comes next.
23:14Your story isn't over.
23:16In fact, if you make the decision today to stop accepting average, your story is just beginning.
23:22So I'm asking you to make a commitment right here, right now.
23:26Not to me but to yourself.
23:29Commit to honoring the calling that's been tugging at your heart.
23:34Commit to facing your fears instead of running from them.
23:37Commit to getting back up every single time you fall down.
23:41Commit to becoming the person you were created to be even if that person looks nothing like what you or anyone else expected.
23:49The world doesn't need more people who have made peace with mediocrity.
23:54The world needs you fully alive, fully expressed, fully committed to the extraordinary life that's waiting for you on the other side of your fear.
24:04You were not born to be average.
24:08You were born to be remarkable.
24:10You were born to make a difference.
24:13You were born to leave this world better than you found it.
24:16And the only thing standing between you and that destiny is the decision to start.
24:21So start today.
24:23Start right now.
24:25Start before you're ready because you'll never feel completely ready.
24:28Start scared.
24:30Start imperfect.
24:31Start with doubt and questions and uncertainty.
24:35Just start.
24:36Because somewhere out there is someone who needs exactly what only you can give.
24:42Somewhere out there is a problem that only you can solve.
24:46Somewhere out there is a life that will be changed because you finally decided to stop playing small and step into the greatness you were always meant to embody.
24:57Your time is now.
24:59Your moment is here.
25:00The extraordinary life you've been dreaming about is possible but only if you choose it.
25:06Only if you believe it.
25:08Only if you commit to it with everything you have.
25:11Now go.
25:12Go and show this world what you were really born to do.
25:16Go and prove that average was never an option for someone like you.
25:20Go and live so fully and so boldly and so authentically that when people see you they remember what's possible when someone decides they were meant for more.
25:31You were not born to be average.
25:32Now go be everything you were meant to be.
25:36The world is waiting.
25:38Your calling gets quieter not because it's giving up on you but because you've gotten so good at drowning it out.
25:46Your purpose won't wait forever.
25:47It won't keep knocking on a door you refuse to open.
25:52It won't keep presenting opportunities you're too comfortable to pursue.
25:57There is a window for everything and that includes the fulfillment of your calling.
26:02And the tragic irony is that the longer you choose comfort over calling the more uncomfortable your life becomes.
26:11Because living outside of your purpose is the most uncomfortable thing a human being can do.
26:17It's a slow suffocation of the spirit.
26:20It's watching yourself become smaller and dimmer and less alive with each passing year.
26:26But when you finally make the decision to honor your calling over your comfort something miraculous happens.
26:32Yes, it's hard.
26:34Yes, it's scary.
26:36Yes, you will face obstacles and setbacks and moments where you question everything.
26:42But you will also feel alive in a way you've never felt before.
26:46You will wake up with anticipation instead of dread.
26:50You will go to bed exhausted but fulfilled instead of rested but empty.
26:55You will look in the mirror and recognize the person staring back at you.
26:59Because for the first time in a long time you're actually being yourself.
27:05The question isn't whether you can afford to pursue your calling.
27:10The question is whether you can afford not to.
27:13Because at the end of your life nobody is going to ask you how comfortable you were.
27:19They're going to ask you if you did what you came here to do.
27:21Make sure your answer is yes.
27:25We have been conditioned to see failure as an ending when in reality it is the most essential part of any beginning worth having.
27:34Every great achievement in human history has been built on a foundation of failures that nobody talks about.
27:40Because we love the highlight reel but we're terrified of the behind.
27:45The scene's footage.
27:48We celebrate the victory but we forget about the countless defeats that made that victory possible.
27:55And because we only see the polished final product we convince ourselves that successful people somehow skipped over the messy middle part when the truth is they didn't skip it at all.
28:08They just refuse to let it stop them.
28:10Failure is not your enemy.
28:13Failure is your education.
28:14It's the curriculum that life designed specifically for you based on what you need to learn to become who you need to be.
28:23Every single time you fall short of your goal the universe is handing you information.
28:29It's showing you what doesn't work so you can discover what does.
28:34It's revealing your weak spots so you can strengthen them.
28:38It's testing your commitment so you can prove to yourself that you want this badly enough to keep going when everything in you wants to quit.
28:48But here's what most people do when they encounter failure.
28:51They take it personally.
28:53They internalize it as evidence of their inadequacy instead of recognizing it as feedback about their approach.
29:01They let one closed door convince them that all doors are closed when really they just haven't found the right door yet.
29:10They let one rejection letter define their worth when really that rejection was just redirecting them towards something better.
29:18They give failure the power to write the final chapter of their story when failure was only meant to be a plot twist that makes the ending more remarkable.
29:29Think about how a child learns to walk.
29:32Think about how a child learns to walk.
29:33They stand up and they fall down.
29:35They stand up again and they fall down again.
29:38They do this dozens of times.
29:40Hundreds of times.
29:42And not once does that child interpret falling as evidence that they're not meant to walk.
29:47Not once does that child give up and decide that crawling is good enough.
29:52They keep getting up because getting up is what humans do.
29:57But somewhere between childhood and adulthood, we lose that resilience.
30:02We forget that falling is part of the process.
30:05We start believing that if we're really meant to do something, it should be easy.
30:11And if it's hard, that must mean we're on the wrong path.
30:15But the difficulty is the point.
30:17The struggle is what builds your capacity.
30:20Every time you fail and choose to try again, you're not just moving closer to your goal.
30:26You're becoming someone capable of handling success when it finally arrives.
30:31Because success without struggle produces people who crumble the first time things get hard.
30:37Success without failure produces people who don't know how to navigate setbacks.
30:43Success without rejection produces people who can't handle criticism.
30:47The failures aren't delaying your success.
30:51They're preparing you for it.
30:54And here's the beautiful truth that nobody tells you.
30:57Your failures make your eventual success so much sweeter because you know what it cost.
31:03You know what you had to overcome.
31:06You know how many times you wanted to quit but didn't.
31:09And when you finally break through, you carry with you the wisdom and the strength and the perspective
31:16that can only come from having been knocked down and having chosen to get back up.
31:22So the question isn't whether you're going to fail.
31:25You are.
31:26The question is whether you're going to let that failure teach you or whether you're going to let it defeat you.
31:34Are you going to see it as curriculum or as conclusion?
31:38Because one perspective keeps you stuck and the other perspective sets you free to keep growing toward everything you were meant to become.
31:47So here we are at the end of our time together and I want to leave you with something you can carry with you long after these words fade from your memory.
31:59Something you can hold on to when the world tries to convince you to play small.
32:04Something you can return to when fear starts whispering that you should give up on the extraordinary and settle for the ordinary.
32:13You were not born to be average.
32:17Those aren't just pretty words meant to make you feel good for a moment.
32:21That's the truth about who you are at your core.
32:24You were born with a specific set of gifts that nobody else has in quite the same combination.
32:30You were born into circumstances that shaped you in ways that can never, never be replicated.
32:36You were born with a purpose that only you can fulfill and a perspective that only you can offer.
32:43And the world is waiting for you to step into that truth.
32:47But knowing you were meant for more and actually living like you were meant for more are two completely different things.
32:55And that gap between knowing and doing is where most dreams go to die.
33:01It's where most potential remains untapped.
33:04It's where most people spend their entire lives wondering what could have been if only they had been brave enough to try.
33:12Don't let that be your story.
33:14Don't let that be your story.
33:15Don't let that be your story.
33:16Don't let that be your story.
33:17Don't let that be your story.
33:18Don't let that be your story.
33:19Don't let that be your story.
33:20Don't let that be your story.
33:21Don't let that be your story.
33:22Don't let that be your story.
33:23Don't let that be your story.
33:24Don't let that be your story.
33:25Don't let that be your story.
33:26Don't let that be your story.
33:27Don't let that be your story.
33:28Don't let that be your story.
33:29Don't let that be your story.
33:30Don't let that be your story.
33:31Don't let that be your story.
33:32Don't let that be your story.
33:33Don't let that be your story.
33:34Don't let that be your story.
33:35Don't let that be your story.
