00:01In Kapfenberg, Austria, this industrial manufacturer is working to promote gender equality in the workplace.
00:08The quality of a job is not just about salary, it's about labor rights, equal opportunities, good working conditions and real chances to grow.
00:36Here in Austria, new efforts are bringing workers and employers together to tackle this challenge directly inside workplaces.
00:50300 people work at BHDT, a company specialized in high-pressure equipment for the chemical and petrochemical industries.
00:58The work is highly technical, demanding precision, training and skills.
01:02For Eva, who's been here for 11 years, it's the working conditions that truly make the difference.
01:08According to Eva's colleague, Lilo, these conditions are opening the door for more women to join a sector traditionally dominated by women.
01:14According to Eva's colleague, Lilo, these conditions are opening the door for more women to join a sector traditionally dominated by men.
01:26I feel like as a woman, I've heard that it will always be better, because companies do a lot of work.
01:32BHDT recently began a collaboration with Fairplus Service.
01:36The program offers free coaching and consulting to companies and their female employees, helping them gain new qualifications and feel more valued at work.
01:46For employers, it's also a way to improve training, communication and overall workplace culture.
02:06Fairplus started for us with the investigation on the shop floor, and they brought us a lot of ideas where we have to keep our mind on or focus on to have an even better collaboration between the different groups of people working, employees working in our company.
02:26For us, it's just important that people work together to have the best output for our company. And it works.
02:33Fairplus Service runs from 2023 to 2028 and is backed by 6 million euros from the European Social Fund Plus.
02:40The initiative partners with companies across Austria to promote gender equality in the workplace.
02:47It's an important step towards tackling the challenges that continue to affect female workers across the European Union.
02:54We have particular problems that are visible for women, and there is a visible gender gap.
03:0012% lower pay for the same work on average in Europe. Women have much more work outside of their workplaces in jobs, much more unpaid work at home for taking care of family members or domestic work. Women have much less perspectives for growing in the career.
03:21Between 2021 and 2027, the ESF Plus is investing more than 2.1 billion euros to support gender equality in the EU's labor market.
03:30New initiatives like the Quality Jobs Roadmap will also guide member states in creating better and more secure jobs across the continent.
03:38This is very important because it gives first the ground, the framing of the discussion about quality jobs. And this is something extremely important.
03:47Again, this is part of the European competitiveness. It zooms on some particular issues that are very important, like the health and safety conditions, especially, for example, workers that are exposed to high heat.
04:00But also the psychosocial risks and the psychological climate at work, which is an issue with increasing importance. It also is going to zoom the debate on the new technologies that are coming into work, artificial intelligence, digitalization, the role of the humans in the whole process.
04:21Back in Kapfenburg, Eva has a message for women based on her own experience in the workplace.
04:28The story of Eva and her colleagues shows that gender equality in the workplace is not just an ideal, but a real possibility that benefits workers, employers and the economy.
04:56Themacbook of Eva Erin for years, meaning the state of the marketplace .
04:57From this community, try to smile and the planet is providing positive privilege in the workplace.
