00:00In the heart of a quiet Indian village named Chandhapa, where narrow mud paths twisted between mustard fields and ancient banyan trees, lived an old woman named Kamla Bai.
00:15Her house was small, with walls patched in clay and straw, and a roof that barely held through the monsoon rains.
00:24Despite its frailty, it was the only home she had ever known, and within it lived memories of laughter, love, and loss.
00:36Kamla Bai had no family left. Her husband had passed away many years ago, leaving her alone to care for her only son, Raju.
00:47But fate had been cruel. Raju had fallen ill when he was young, and left this world before he could even walk properly.
00:58Since then, Kamla Bai lived with the company of memories and a few chickens that wandered in her tiny courtyard.
01:07Every morning, Kamla Bai rose before dawn. She swept the courtyard, prepared a simple breakfast of millet porridge, and tended to her small garden, which barely produced enough to feed her.
01:25Her hands were rough and cracked from decades of work, but her spirit remained gentle and resilient.
01:35Villagers often saw her walking slowly to the well, balancing an earthen pot on her head, always smiling at everyone she met, despite the emptiness in her heart.
01:49The children of Chandabu loved Kamla Bai for her stories. She told them tales of courage, kindness, and the spirits of the land.
02:02They gathered around her every evening, listening to her voice tremble as she spoke, yet somehow filled with a profound warmth.
02:13For those few precious moments, her loneliness would fade, replaced by the innocent laughter and endless chatter of little ones.
02:24She saw in their bright eyes a flicker of the future, a hope that reached beyond her own small world.
02:32Winter brought its own hardships, the nights grew bitterly cold, and Kamla Bai had no money to buy warm blankets.
02:44Some evenings, she would wrap herself in layers of old worn-out cloth and sit by the faint glow of the fireplace, quietly humming lullabies that she had once sung to her son, Rudgett.
02:59Hunger was a frequent unwelcome companion, but she endured it silently, often giving her small portion of food to any child who wandered near, knowing the familiar pangs of hunger in their eyes.
03:16She found more fulfilment in their relief than in her own comfort.
03:22One monsoon evening, as rain poured down in relentless sheets and the village paths flooded with muddy water, Kamla Bai noticed a stray calf, small and terrified, stuck in the swirling mud of a nearby field.
03:41It was bleating weakly, its strength fading with every struggle.
03:47Without a moment's hesitation for her own frailty, she waded into the cold, rising water.
03:55Her old bones ached, but her resolve was firm.
03:59She held the trembling animal, whispering soft words of comfort, and slowly, carefully, guided it back to the safety of solid ground.
04:12Her neighbours watched from their homes in awe, their hearts touched by this simple, powerful act.
04:20They realised then that true compassion and courage often come in the smallest, most unassuming forms.
04:28It wasn't about grand gestures or heroic feats.
04:33It was about the unwavering kindness of a human heart, even when that heart had every reason to be closed off from the world.
04:43Though her life had been marked by sorrow and loss, Kamla Bai's heart remained full.
04:50She showed the entire village that even in the depths of poverty and loneliness, one could live with immense dignity, kindness, and an unwavering love for all living things.
05:07Her life was simple, almost invisible to the outside world.
05:12Yet her actions left a mark far greater than wealth or fame ever could.
05:20And so, in the village of Chandapa, the memory of Kamla Bai lingered long after her days on this earth had ended.
05:30She became a story herself.
05:32Her spirit lived on in the kindness of neighbours, in the stories told to children, and in the gentle hum of the wind through the mustard fields.
05:58Thank you so much for watching.
