Which Club To Use As You Chip Around The Green

00:00so a lot of people lose a lot of shots around the greens they've hit a couple of decent shots to

00:08get here yet somehow still walk off with a six or seven and usually that's down to pool club

00:13selection or pool shot selection if you like so when you find your ball around the green ask

00:19yourself one question if someone was going to give you a winning euro millions lottery ticket if you

00:23could throw the ball close to that hole how would you do it i bet none of us from here would go up

00:28and over and lob it as high as we can we'd all give it a bit of lawn bowls and roll it along the

00:33ground that gives you the answer to the question of what club you should be putting in your hand at

00:38that point we want something with less loft on here we want to be doing a short little chip shot that

00:43runs the ball in there's absolutely no point taking our sandwich out flying it as high as we can in the

00:48air because for that we're going to need quite a big swing and we all know if that goes wrong there's

00:53quite a lot of momentum there to carry a ball further out and over at the back of the green

00:58so small compact swing is much much safer option so that's one of the best ways to work out what club

01:10so here's the perfect opportunity where if we had that ball on our hand and we were going to throw it

01:15we're going to have to be a bit cute with it and pop it up high and get it to stop quick

01:19so that tells us that we need to choose something with a lot of loft on it so possibly the most lofted

01:23club in our bags might be a sandwich might be a lob wedge the biggest thing to remember with these

01:28clubs is they put the ball in the air for you the only thing you've got to do is make sure you

01:32get the turf so you get what's underneath it and all you need to apply to this is a nice little tick

01:39tock action so just back and through and the ball will pop up in the air because there's loft on

01:46that club not because you're trying to help it
