00:00Topic that in 2026 is more relevant, more important than ever before.
00:07There should be no taboos around this topic because intimacy is not something that is due to mankind.
00:14It is in fact at the very core of our being.
00:17We want to establish relationships of trust, of beauty, of pleasure.
00:24And the idea that society expects, particularly women, just to sweep such an important topic under the carpet and not have conversations around it.
00:38I think it's about time we began these conversations, particularly for the young generation.
00:43Because they have in a way lost touch with what it means to be in a relationship that has meaning, that has trust and that has a lot of poetry and tenderness.
00:57And as one grows older, you tend to value it more and more.
01:03But for me, it's been really a lifelong search, perhaps for answers that I didn't have when I was 20 or 30.
01:10And there was no one at that time to raise topics of this kind.
01:15They were considered too threatening to society.
01:18But in today's day and age, it's about time we tabled these conversations more to help the young understand what relationships mean,
01:28what being in touch with your sensual self also means, and to take away the shame and the taboo from that word itself.
01:35But shame is something, especially in a patriarchal society, and particularly where women are concerned from a very young age.
01:43They are made to feel extremely self-conscious about their physical selves.
01:49Even a little girl is taught the meaning of the word shame.
01:53So we put those ideas into very young, innocent minds, and you grow up with those feelings of being ashamed of whatever your fantasies may be.
02:05Even your thoughts are not left without censorship.
02:09So I feel it's a pity, because in a country like India, we have a very rich and glorious tradition of our sensuality,
02:19whether it's in everyday matters, whether it's the way we dress, it's our colors, it's our spices,
02:27it's the saree is by far the most sensuous garment ever created.
02:32In the world, we cannot be indifferent to what is going on in Iran.
02:39We cannot let global politics dictate how we as human beings react to what's happening to women in Iran,
02:45what's happening to innocents in Iran, and all of us have a conscience, and we must protest what's going on.
02:51I'm not concerned with a government position on what's going on in Iran.
02:56But as citizens of the world, we cannot turn a blind eye to what's going on,
03:04which is beyond atrocity, and that it can happen in this day and age,
03:10is something which is really shameful, and we should all condemn what's going on in that country.
03:15It's a negative way of looking at it.
03:17I think Bollywood remains pretty fair in terms of giving a chance to people with talent.
03:26No one asks your religion when you come into Bollywood.
03:28No one cares.
03:29If you are delivering, if you have what it takes, I don't think what Rahman is saying,
03:36communal angle, if he's inserting that, it's a very negative thought, and I don't subscribe to it at all.
