00:00Hey, friends, come on in. Type in freedom now. I have some big news to discuss with you tonight.
00:14Some big news to discuss. Double tap the screen if you're joining on social media,
00:20on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, McBean Immigration TV, come on in. Welcome.
00:26I'm LaToya McBean Pompey, an immigration lawyer in New York, working with clients nationwide at McBean Law.
00:35We have bad news, bad news to discuss, which I'm certain you've seen this news today.
00:43And it has to do with the fact that our government has found a way to justify shutting down
00:52immigrant visa processing for 75 countries. Come on in, type in freedom now, and let us know where
01:04you're joining from tonight. The US State Department has issued, I guess, maybe a statement. I don't
01:14know. I saw something on X, which I'll pull up momentarily, that discusses the new pause on
01:23immigrant visas for 75 countries. And I've seen a Fox News article, which says that they have been privy
01:34to an internal document from the State Department, which talks about the pause or the suspension
01:44of immigrant visas that is to come starting January 21st, 2026, next week, this time. And so Fox News,
01:55they broke the news and they also identified the 75 countries that are impacted by this pause.
02:03Now, here's what the government has said. If you guys, if you'd like to see what the rest of the,
02:12those who are joining tonight's live session is seen, hop over to Facebook or to McBean Immigration TV
02:19on YouTube. On X, the State Department posted a post today that the State Department will pause
02:30immigrant visa processing from 75 countries whose migrants, everyone's a migrant today, right?
02:42whose migrants take welfare from the American people at unacceptable rates, okay? The freeze will
02:54remain active until the U.S. can ensure that new immigrants, now they're immigrants again, new
03:03immigrants will not extract wealth from the American people, okay? So this is what we understand the
03:14rationale to be. The rationale is focused on public charge. The idea that if you're bringing a new
03:23immigrant to the United States on the green card, through the green card process, that they should,
03:31you should, you sponsor, you will be responsible for that individual, so that that individual does not
03:38become a burden to taxpayers. And this is known as public charge. And so we have this built into our
03:46system to, I guess, to protect, well, maybe to protect American taxpayers from the burden of foreigners
03:55coming to the United States. So our system requires a sponsor. And so there's this process in place by
04:03which a U.S. citizen or a green card holder steps up and says, I will sponsor this immigrant and I will
04:12be on the hook for him or her. So that's already in place. Now our government is making changes to the
04:21public charge process changes which are to come this year, maybe as early as next month. As a matter of
04:28fact, they've proposed very strict rules to really scrutinize foreigners who are applying for the green
04:35card to ensure that only really the best of the best and those with resources can really make it through
04:43and get that green card and come to the United States. Now, the rationale today that we understand
04:51from the State Department is that the freeze is based on this idea that foreigners should not burden
05:00the American taxpayers. And this will remain active until the U.S. can ensure that this won't happen.
05:09Now, this is really broad. We have indefinite. This is as indefinite as you can get, okay? As indefinite
05:17as you can get. Certainly, once the State Department issues an official statement or guidance or something
05:25for the public to view, I'll update you of what criteria and parameters and all of that that they've put
05:35around this. But for now, just know that 75 countries are impacted. And here's the list that we know about
05:50from Fox News, from Fox News. So we're talking about, and I'm not going to say all 75 right now,
05:58but there's Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Bosnia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon,
06:12all of the travel ban countries, by the way, are here. Egypt, Cuba, Georgia, Ghana, Jamaica,
06:22Jordan, Kuwait, Grenada, right? All these Caribbean countries. Liberia, Lebanon, Montenegro,
06:34Mongolia, Moldova. Okay. There are a couple of European countries on this list. Morocco, Nicaragua,
06:43Nigeria, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Republic of the Congo, Russia, Rwanda, St. Lucia, St. Vincent,
06:53Senegal, Somalia, Syria. I mean, the list goes on and on. Thailand, Uganda, and some others, okay?
07:03So these are the countries that are on this list, according to Fox News, of countries in which if
07:12your family member or your employee is going through an immigrant visa process, again, this is for the
07:20green card, the US government is saying that they will indefinitely pause processing those immigrant
07:27visa applications indefinitely. For those of you who were around back in 2020 and paying attention,
07:36I should say, paying attention in 2020 to immigration matters, you may recall that there was also a
07:45pausing or suspension, a very broad one, global suspension based on COVID. And that suspension
07:54impacted millions of people across the world. And it was based on the public health
08:01health rationale at that time. Now the government has found, is using the Somali crackdown in Minnesota
08:15as part of the rationale for something like this, okay? And in a statement that one of the officials from
08:25the State Department made earlier, he said that the US State Department, they will pause processing
08:32immigrant visas for applicants from 75 countries to reassess processing procedures to prevent the entry
08:41of foreign nationals who would take welfare and public benefits, okay? So that's what's going on.
08:49Those impacted by this are those going through a family-based immigration process.
08:54I would imagine the immediate relatives of US citizens are impacted by this, but I don't know
09:01whether it's even that broad until we receive the real guidance from the State Department. But what we
09:10know so far is that it impacts family-based immigration. It also impacts employment-based immigrant visas.
09:17And then just so you know, what's not impacted, the visa categories that are not impacted,
09:26are tourists or visitor visas, student visas, and any other non-immigrant visa categories.
09:35So someone says this too shall pass. I agree with you, but this really touches the globe,
09:44right? This touches the globe because you're talking about family. You're talking about connections.
09:50You're talking about spouses who want to be together. You're talking about parents who want
09:54to bring their children here or children who want to bring their parents here. We're talking about
09:59all these relationships and we're talking about business and money and the economy. So
10:04this was a real bad move. And here's the list of 75 countries impacted by this. Okay. And this,
10:16again, the date that we have for this to begin, this pause to begin is January 21st,
10:222026 next week, this time. Certainly there will be litigation because as I've mentioned earlier,
10:30if I could just find my, uh, get back on that screen, the post on X says that the freeze will remain
10:39active until the U S can ensure the new immigrants will not extract wealth from the American people. I
10:47don't know how they're going to figure that part out. So this is real bad news guys.
10:54Someone is asking on Instagram, um, can a judge block this? Yes. A federal judge can, um, uh, block this
11:05through the right litigation. Um, and of course, something like this could also go all the way up
11:11to the United States. What about spouses? We're waiting to see whether, um, there are any exceptions
11:19to this, uh, immediate relatives of us citizens. We would, you know, obviously that would be great.
11:26Um, uh, but, uh, the U S someone is asking, what about, uh, the, uh, interviews, the U S embassies,
11:36the way that, um, other suspension of visas work in the past is the U S embassy. You could get really
11:44far in the process, but the U S embassy would not issue the visa. Okay. Uh, adjustment of status.
11:54My colleagues and I were discussing this earlier. Okay. Guys, I'm still recovering. So bear with me.
12:02We were discussing, um, adjustment of status in light of this news. So, you know, if individuals
12:10are here in the United States on their visa and you're still in your I 94 period, you're,
12:16you're in a lawful status, so to speak here in the United States and, um, a visa is available for you.
12:25Uh, your priority date is current or you're an immediate relative of a U S citizen and you've
12:32changed your mind and you've decided, I'm just going to stay with my relative here in the United States
12:37and not, you know, try to write out this process back home. That's your decision to make. You're
12:43free to change your mind. And, um, you could certainly pursue adjustment of status. Our system
12:49allows you to apply for a green card, um, change your process, so to speak, switch it up and apply
12:55for a green card, uh, right here in the United States. So for some of you, I know that you probably
13:02will be changing your mind when, um, when that time comes. Okay. Um, let's see, let's just jump back
13:11over, um, here. What I'll do is I'll keep the list of countries up on the screen so that you guys can
13:20see this. Okay. If you're now joining, uh, I'm Latoya McBean Pompey, an immigration lawyer,
13:28and we're talking about the pause that is to come starting January 21st, um, next week on
13:38visa processing for 75 countries. The list of countries include the Bahamas, Barbados, um, Brazil,
13:47um, various African countries, um, some European country. Well, there's Moldova,
13:54there's Montenegro, there's Morocco, there's Macedonia, Liberia, Libya, Lebanon,
14:02um, Russia, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Haiti, Iran, um, and many others are on this list. Somalia,
14:12the Senegal, St. Lucia, um, Afghanistan. There's, there, there are just so many countries on this list.
14:21Type in freedom. Now, freedom. Now what, um, it will, will not be impacted, um, is of course,
14:28entry by those with a temporary visa, like a visitor visa or a business visa or student visa.
14:34Our government, um, has not put a pause on you on those, uh, types of visas. So if you do have
14:42one of those visas, a visitor visa, and you're able to travel to the United States, you still will be able
14:48to do so. Um, okay. Provided that you're not also, um, coming from a travel ban country. Okay. Um,
15:01thank you guys. Double tap the screen freedom now freedom now. So this will impact marriage cases.
15:07This will impact parent, uh, filing for children cases. Um, all of that. Okay. All of those types of
15:16cases, immigrant visa cases. Now what we don't know, but we're watching for, okay. I'm just signaling
15:28this to you guys. This is not a fact yet. So just, you know, make sure that you quote me correctly on
15:35this. What we're watching for is whether the next step, um, would be for the government to,
15:43for USCIS to jump into the mix of this and say now, oh, here's an updated policy that we would
15:51like to share with you guys. Uh, we also are assessing the public charge issue as well. And, uh,
15:58we want to also ensure that, um, people who are going through a green card process here in the United
16:04States are not, um, going to extract money from taxpayers. So we've got to put a pause as well
16:13on those very same 75 countries. And we will pause adjustment of status. We will pause, um,
16:21asylum. Well, we already know asylum is paused, uh, right now, but that's what I suspect potentially
16:29the next step will be by USCIS because that's what we've been seeing them do. But let's just wait and
16:36see if, uh, they would actually, uh, take things that far. Okay. Um, if you've all right, someone is
16:45asking what if you've already gotten your visa it's, and, um, you know, then you're fine when these rules,
16:52when rules like this go into effect, it, it's always, you know, on the date of, right? It's
16:59effective. This one, the pause is January 21st. So I, um, believe that if you had already gotten your
17:05visa, then you should be fine for entry, uh, into the United States. Someone is asking whether Trinidad
17:16Trinidad and Tobago is on this list. And I do not see Trinidad on this list that Fox news has put out
17:26here. I do not see Trinidad on the list. I see St. Vincent. I see, um, what else, what other, I see
17:35Grenada, I see Jamaica, I see, um, Barbados, right? Antigua, Bahamas, but, uh, I do not see on this list
17:47from Fox news. I do not see Trinidad. Okay. Antigua, St. Lucia. Those two are also on the list.
17:57Okay. Someone says almost the whole world is on the list. No, that is not true. Go look up how many
18:12countries there are in the world. And then you'll understand why I say that, uh, is China on the list?
18:20China is not on the list. Uh, Japan is also not on the list. Someone is asking.
18:25Okay. The world is a big place, but they, this government has, um, has honed in on, um,
18:36people of color primarily. And they did throw in a few, a couple of, um, uh, European countries here.
18:44Uh, let's see, let's go down to additional questions. So friends, um,
18:48again, the big takeaway is about public charge and the fact that our government, they're making
18:58changes to those rules so that they can weed out people, weed them out of the, uh, immigration
19:05process. And, um, and so they're working on the backend, they're, they're doing that. And now they're
19:12saying, Oh, let's just what, here's an additional thing that we could do. And you know, we've been
19:19talking about the fact that there's this movement towards pausing immigration, all immigration,
19:26placing a moratorium on immigration, all immigration for the most part, based on discussions that, um,
19:34some Republican Congress people are having. And so this comes as no surprise. We know that this
19:41government is highly motivated to really shut down immigration, um, from all sides, all angle,
19:49and place more people in removal. Okay. Let's see, let's go down. Um, what does the pause mean?
19:58So the pause mean, um, that, uh, a U S embassy official cannot issue a visa to an immigrant visa
20:09to an individual who is otherwise eligible for it and have waited and gone through the process,
20:15paid the fees, followed the rules, submitted all their documents and, um, just waiting now to join
20:23their relative or to start working for a company here in the United States.
20:28Um, it's those people will not be getting a visa unless there's some sort of injunction on this,
20:36because it, this is kind of crazy. All right. All right, guys, thank you. Let's see. Um,
20:45even in the midst of me, you know, we're talking about big news here and people are asking,
20:49can I travel on my green card guys? This is about family unity. This is about people being able to come
20:57to the United States. Okay. This is about businesses being powered by people who they need to work in
21:04their companies. This is big. This is about the U S saying that, well, we're going to take a step
21:11that will impact millions of people around the world. And, um, just like that. And it's about power. So,
21:18um, certainly this is going to, this is going to have, um, strong pushback again on this list. There's,
21:25um, Albania, Algeria, Antigua, um, Armenia. Okay. Bangladesh, uh, Brazil, Bosnia, Bosnia. I'm getting,
21:39I'm trying to get it out. Uh, Egypt, Dominica, Cuba, Congo. Okay. Ethiopia, Ghana, even countries
21:49that are so friendly with the U S right. Ghana is on the list. Jamaica is on the list. Iraq,
21:57Iran, of course, Haiti, of course. Um, and so many others, Russia. Okay. Thank you.
22:04Let's see. We'll see what someone is asking about, uh, visiting the U S during times of an emergency.
22:16We'll see what types of exceptions they will put in place here. Um, but certainly there's a medical B2.
22:24Yes. So if there's an emergency, for instance, um, there's a medical emergency B2 process that would
22:30allow you to get this temporary visa to come to the United States for medical care. So that's okay.
22:36You could still do that. You could still, um, I believe be able to, uh, get that, uh, type of visa
22:44to come here. Uh, is Honduras on the list? Um, I don't see Honduras on this list from Fox news.
22:53Cameroon is there. Yes. Okay. Um, is this about immigrant visa processing or for all visa processing?
23:05This is about immigrant visa processing only on both the, um, family side, as well as on the business side.
23:15A lot of people are saying this too shall pass. This too shall pass. I, I agree with you. I agree
23:23with you. Um, except most European countries. Yes, that is correct. Uh, we do not see most European
23:30cotton, uh, many European countries on this list. Did a court approve this? A court does not have to
23:36approve this. Michael, this is a policy decision that, uh, decision makers at the state department or
23:43White House. They've made, uh, this decision. Is the denial rate going up for people who are going
23:52through the adjustment of status? I'm not sure if the denial rate itself has gone up. I haven't, um,
23:58seen any data to suggest that. I do know that, um, they're placing more people in removal
24:05after these types of cases are denied. Okay. Thank you guys for the gifts. Thank you.
24:10Double tap the screen on tick tock. Thank you for joining tonight. Share this with your feed on
24:16Facebook. Um, share this with your feed. We will also share a carousel. Um, after I'm finished with
24:25this live session, I wanted to do this first. We'll share a carousel on social media with some
24:31information about this and what you should, um, really be thinking about. But the first thing that
24:38I certainly want to say to you is do not panic, do not panic. Okay. Um, this too shall pass and
24:45litigation is sure to come. Secondly, keep everything still organized, all of your documents
24:51and everything. And also if you plan to come to the United States on a visa to visit your family or
24:58for a, for a short stay here in the U S just keep in mind that, um, if, if, if they, if, if a visa is
25:08available to you, um, uh, meaning that your priority date is current or you're an immediate relative of
25:15a U S citizen, um, right. Um, and you, um, had never engaged in unauthorized employment, you know,
25:24here in the United States, although that doesn't matter for U S immediate relatives of U S citizens,
25:30but for everyone else who are not immediate relatives of U S citizens, if you've never overstayed
25:36and passed visits to the U S if you've never worked without authorization and your priority date is
25:41current. Just keep in mind that if you decide that you're going to stay in the United States,
25:46you can't come here for the purpose of staying and adjusting your status, that would be wrong.
25:52But if things happen and you change your mind and decide to stay, you will have the option to adjust
25:58your status in the United States, um, as well. Okay. So keep that in mind for people who have, um,
26:06um, um, you know, a visa to be able to visit the United States also prepare for, um, schedule and
26:15delays, longer administrative review processes and additional scrutiny and such, uh, be careful of
26:22scams, avoid paying anyone who could guarantee you an interview slot in your home country. Be careful
26:28of things like that. Avoid those types of scam, get case specific guidance from an attorney. Um,
26:35if you need to, um, inquire more about your case, but do not, do not panic. All right. We're,
26:42we're in this with you. Do not panic. Uh, someone says, God is in control. Do not let the enemy put
26:50fear in you. Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. This morning, um, I said in my car to you guys,
27:00maybe not to be an immigration TV, but on social media that we should flood the zone, flood everything,
27:07you know, the internet with positivity, with encouragement, with light, because the darkness
27:13cannot overcome the light. So be strong. Okay guys. And, um, do not be alarmed and do not panic.
27:22Will this impact the application called I-130? Um, no, this won't. This news that we are talking
27:34about tonight at this point, uh, as far as I know, no announcement has been made by USCIS
27:42about the connect connecting USCIS processing of I-130s to something like this. Uh, that has not
27:49happened yet. So, um, that has not happened. Uh, so the I-130s will still be moving forward,
27:57but we also know that there is a pause on app, all applications for the 39 travel ban countries.
28:06So, um, I guess this batch will be called the visa suspended countries. I, you know, I don't know
28:15what we're going to call this batch of 75, but it continues to grow use as you guys can see
28:22incrementally. Um, not sure about the K ones right now, to be honest with you, because I know there are
28:29some embassy, uh, council at post that consider the K one as an immigrant visa. Whereas generally
28:36speaking, it is considered a non-immigrant visa. I'm waiting to hear, um, what guidance the American
28:43immigration lawyer association, uh, has to provide about this right now. They're still trying, they're
28:48trying to process this just as we are together. So stay tuned about the K one. But like I said,
28:54in some places it's considered an immigrant visa and other places it is non-immigrant visa. Okay.
29:01Thank you guys. Let's go down a little bit to your, uh, additional questions. Bawa cases are not
29:07connected to this because this is about immigrant visa, people who are outside of the United States
29:14trying to, uh, come through, um, a U S embassy or a councilate for processing.
29:20Nothing has changed with the I seven 51 removal of conditions process. Um, that's a part of this.
29:30I have an appointment in February. Will this impact things? Yes. If it's for the immigrant visa. Yes.
29:38And you're, um, with one, uh, from one of these countries, uh, South Africa is not on this list.
29:46Okay. Someone says South Africa has escaped again. Uh, they are not on this list.
29:55Um, my husband has his interview coming up next Tuesday. Will this impact his interview appointment?
30:03I don't think so, but pay very close attention. I would not be surprised if the embassy, um, sends an email, uh, reschedule in.
30:11I don't know if they might do that or they might just press on with the interview and issue him his visa.
30:19That would be amazing. Right. Because I think, uh, the 21st is next Wednesday. Right. Am I correct
30:26about that? If I'm correct about that, just let me know. I'm correct about that. Uh, this does not
30:34impact DACA renewal. Okay. Um, I have a pending case with USCIS. Can I travel around the United States?
30:43Uh, I would, you know, like I've, I've been saying, I don't think it's a great idea for
30:47individuals who are undocumented to travel, uh, around the United States at this time.
30:53Um, I just don't think it's great. There's so much biometrics going on, you know, everywhere,
30:58really. And, uh, TSA is, uh, communicating with ICE and sharing data on all traveler information.
31:06And, and if you have a removal order, um, or you're in the removal system, you know, it's possible that
31:12ICE could arrest you at the airport. So just be very careful. I don't think it's a great idea to fly around.
31:20Can lawyers fight this through litigation? Yes, they can. Yes, they can.
31:25Okay. Let's go down a little bit. Freedom now. Um,
31:33Uruguay is on the list. Yes. Um,
31:41Afghanistan as well. Okay.
31:47This does not affect F1 student visas. It does not affect them. Students and those with, um,
31:54um, a visitor visa, um, B1, B2, it, you're not impacted by this. You could still travel to the
32:02United States. Okay.
32:09Someone is asking whether they could travel on Greyhound or Peter Pan bus. I, my philosophy is
32:14that it's not a good idea. I, you know, because, you know, I've seen over the years,
32:20how people get in, uh, trouble on those buses. I, it used to be safer to fly around the United States,
32:27uh, versus, um, getting on one of those buses. I don't, I just, I don't think that's a great idea.
32:36Uh, Zimbabwe. I don't see Zimbabwe on the list. No.
32:40Mexico is not on the list either.
32:52St. Kitts is there.
32:56Okay, guys. Um, if you're just joining your, um, you should understand that January 21st is the date
33:06that they're there. They've put in place for, um, this pause on visa to suspend visa processing,
33:15um, for 75 countries and they are using public charge as the rationale for this.
33:23Let's see. Uh, let's go down. Um, if I have an immigrate, if I have an immigration visa appointment,
33:40what's what will be the outcome? It depends on when your appointment will be, of course. Um,
33:46um, and if it's after, I believe the 20, after the 21st, then they, they will not,
33:53most likely they're going to reschedule your appointment or cancel it, cancel, cancel. Because
33:59again, this is indefinite that we know of today. Hopefully things will change and we will get more
34:06guidance and clarity from the state department, a proper, a proper, um, you know, statement or press
34:14release. What we got today was this awful post on, um, X saying the state department will pause
34:23immigrant visa process. And for, from 75 countries whose migrants take welfare from the American
34:34people at unacceptable rates, the freeze will remain active until the U S can ensure that new
34:44immigrants will not extract wealth from the American people. That's all we know officially from our
34:53government. This right here, hopefully tomorrow or in the days ahead, we'll know more.
35:02Okay. Let's see. Um, I do see questions about being detained and such. I'm, uh, I'm going to cover,
35:09I could cover those types of questions, um, in upcoming, um, upcoming live sessions.
35:17Jamaica is on the list as well. So is Ghana.
35:23Okay. This does not impact naturalization. This is about those who are outside of the United States
35:32applying to come to the U S permanently through the green card process. USCIS has not connected
35:41their policies and applications to this quite yet.
35:50St. Vincent is on the list, right? I did say that earlier. Let's get the list back here in front of me.
35:59Um, yeah, St. Vincent and the, uh, Grenadines.
36:10Let's see.
36:17Philippines is not on the list.
36:18Someone like that. Philippines is not on the list. I should just keep saying that, right? Philippines is
36:30not on the list. That's enough. No more gifts. Um, Philippines. Um, there are some countries that,
36:40you know, we don't know why, what the rationale is for the specific countries that they've selected
36:46here aside from maybe racism. That's just my thinking. Um, initially, of course, I don't know
36:54why some of these other ones are on the list. Um, you know, we know why Somalia is on the list because
37:01they are hyper-focused on some, um, folks from Somalia at this time. They're doing a major crackdown
37:08in Minnesota. Um, but certain other countries, it's just really unclear why they made this particular list.
37:19Mongolia, right? Um, it's very strange.
37:24Jamaica. It's, it's really, it just, what's really awful too. I mean, like a country like Jamaica just
37:35went through a major, major, major humanitarian crisis, major crisis with the hurricane, um,
37:41a couple of months ago, major crisis. And people are trying to bring their loved ones to
37:46the United States and for our government to turn around now and say that the immigrant visa process
37:53should be suspended for Jamaicans. It's just, it's really, really shocking in some ways.
38:02The DV lottery has also been paused. Pakistan. Yes. Is on the list.
38:12Is all African countries on the list? No, not all South Africa is not on the list. And there are others
38:18that are not on the list, um, like Zimbabwe and some others. Jamaica is on the list.
38:26And Ghana.
38:30Will this affect the 6 0 1 a waiver process? Well, um, you're going to have lawyers tell you that
38:39it's obviously not a good idea to leave the United States to go try to, um, process at the US embassy
38:47through the 6 0 1 a process. Yes, you could, you should still follow 6 0 1 a because it takes years
38:52for it to process. And this too shall pass of course. Um, and you want to make sure that you're
38:58in line once this goes, um, away that your case is approved. And then you could go to, uh, interview
39:05for the, um, immigrant visa, but immigration lawyers will be telling folks that, um,
39:11um, if you're during this time when a visa is suspended, immigrant visa suspended,
39:18you're not going to go very far in the process to get a date. First of all, from the US embassy,
39:23they're just not going to issue dates for interviews. So in that sense, it will impact
39:29those who are going through the I 6 0 1 a waiver process. So that it, that is also the next stumbling
39:42block. You know, you wait years to go through this I 6 0 1 a process. Well, first of all, being eligible
39:50to begin with, and then you go through the 6 0 1 a process. And then you find that our government has
39:56done this very cruel thing. And a lot of our clients are impacted by this. A lot of our clients
40:02are really impacted by this. Um, yeah. Conditional residents, um, are not impacted by this because
40:20you're going through a process right here in the US through USCIS. So, um, um, you, um, you're not
40:29hurt by this process unless USCIS connects their work to this. Um,
40:39the, uh, the, uh, the, our religious visas affected by this. Um, the temporary ones are not impacted
40:52by this, but if you're trying to do, um, uh, a green card process, then yes, um, you would be impacted by,
41:01but you know, most people are coming over here on the, our visa. Um, they should be fine.
41:08They should be fine. Um, because it's non-immigrant.
41:18Um, Zimbabwe is on the partial travel ban list. Still. Um, I need an update on that one, Zimbabwe,
41:31because someone has just pointed out that, um, Zimbabwe, um, pointed out that Zimbabwe isn't on this list.
41:45Um, let's see. Okay. I have to circle back with you about Zimbabwe.
41:57Okay. This does not impact pending I-485 adjustment of status cases,
42:08but keep in mind that the 39 travel ban countries, those applications are paused.
42:15Guys, there's so much going on. There's there, you know, there are different, um, elements here of
42:23different pauses happen in here. Um, and the list seems to be growing of countries paused.
42:34Jamaica is not on a, on the travel ban list, but it is on this one here.
42:40Okay. Someone says they made the formal announcement.
42:53Um, uh,
42:55Let's see if I could get that.
43:08Okay. Here we go. Um,
43:16that's not what I need.
43:25Come on in guys.
43:36Okay.
43:39Will they be adding more countries on this list? I don't know. I'm not sure.
43:45What kind of visas, the immigrant visas are impacted here.
43:57Uh, let's see.
44:12Um,
44:16Let's go down a little bit.
44:25Does it mean, uh, where is this question?
44:30Does this mean countries that were on the initial list, um, that are not on the 75 country list are off
44:39the hook? I don't think that's what that means. I, I, I just don't think that's what that means.
44:44This list that we have in front of us is a list from Fox news that they have in their article today
44:51saying that, Oh, we've seen internal documents. We're the first to have gotten the information
44:56in here. It was shared with us.
45:01What about people who are being filed for? Those are the exact people who are impacted by something
45:06like this. If they're from one of these 75 countries, the, um, one of my colleagues is
45:12also searching for the official announcement. Like I said, the only announcement that we've seen
45:18is the one on X. That's the only official announcement that I've seen so far. We're still,
45:25we're still going to be searching of course. Um, but I don't think the government has put something
45:30out there quite yet. And if you have a different link, certainly put it in the chat for us, please.
45:36Does this mean that people with green card interviews from those countries should be worried?
45:45Well, don't be worried and do not panic. It just means that starting January 21st,
45:53they will not issue immigrant visas. If you're from one of these, uh, 75 countries.
46:03Someone says, I find it interesting that so many Caribbean countries were picked. I do as well.
46:11I find it very interesting because I remember seeing Marco Rubio, um, in Jamaica, laughing it up with
46:18the prime minister there. I think it was in the summer or shaking hands. They were like,
46:22best buddies. It was just so chummy. Um, I thought to myself, Oh, I wonder what's going on here. Um,
46:31you know, a lot of, um,
46:35closeness with the Caribbean. That's been the history of the U S you know, we're all in the
46:39Western hemisphere. So for them to do this to Caribbean countries, it's really shocking. I think as
46:46well, hi there, Lorraine, thank you for being here. Good to see you score it in, um,
46:57Kenya, Kenya. Um, I don't see Kenya on this list.
47:04Kenyan Kenya is not on this list. Let's wait for more official information from the government.
47:12Can you serve and help me in Florida? Yes, we do have clients in Florida. Contact our office
47:18at 9 1 4 8 9 8 94 88, uh, to schedule a consultation with us.
47:28Again, um, just to summarize, uh, as we wrap up today, our government has announced on X
47:37that they are planning to suspend visa immigrant visa processing so that they could reexamine things
47:44and figure out how to prevent foreigners from these 75 countries from, um, um, tapping into an
47:53extract and wealth from the American people. Uh, and so they are going to suspend the processing of
48:00their green cards and the list includes, um, Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Antigua,
48:10um, Armenia, Bahamas, um, Azerbaijan. I've got that one. Uh, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Belize,
48:21Bhutan, Bosnia, Brazil, Burma, um, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, uh, Colombia, Congo, Cuba,
48:34Dominica, Egypt, Eritrea, uh, Ethiopia, Fiji. Fiji is on the list. Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Grenada,
48:45Guatemala, Guinea, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo,
48:52Kuwait, uh, Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, uh, Liberia, Libya, Macedonia, Moldova,
49:02Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Repub, um, Republic of the
49:10Congo, Russia, Rwanda, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South
49:19Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, and Yemen.
49:29Those are the countries that I see today, that I saw today on, um, Fox in their article, Fox News.
49:39And so this does not impact those with a student visa and visitors and other non-immigrant visa
49:45categories. Um, do not panic. Certainly, um, know that delays are expected ahead with visa processing.
49:56And this really, really, really, really sucks. This is one of the most awful things that I think
50:01that they've done so far. Um, and, uh, just know that most likely there will be litigation to challenge
50:07this because we don't see a real rationale here. There's no justification and certainly we did not
50:13see any real exceptions here. So let's wait for more information from the U S government before
50:20panicking. Uh, yes, Bahamas is on the list. Um, okay. Uh, friends, um, I'm sorry to have to be the one to,
50:34um, to, to discuss these kinds of things with you. I wish we could talk about other things,
50:41honestly, sometimes I really do. Um, but this is life. We will get through it. We're getting through
50:47it together. Stay strong, have a game plan ahead and just keep in mind that if you have a visa and
50:55you come to the United States and, um, your, uh, uh, your categories current and, um, you're in lawful
51:03status still through your I-94 period at your, um, you know, in a certain category, not an immediate
51:10relative category, but any other category and the visa is available for you. You had not worked without
51:17authorization in the United States in the past and you had not overstayed a visa in the past.
51:22And lastly, you've changed your mind and decided I'm staying because of whatever your reason is,
51:28then, you know, you'll be eligible to seek adjustment of status at that time. Or if you're
51:33an immediate relative of a U S citizen and you're here visiting your relative and, um, you've also
51:38changed your mind. You could also seek adjustment of status. YouTube. I apologize for Monday. We had
51:48a huge technical glitch with the software, the streaming software that I use, and I was not able
51:54to be with you on Monday. Um, and Facebook, my apologies for that guys. Thanks so much for being here
52:02with me. Um, I'm going to jump off now, um, and get out of the office. I will be back before you guys
52:10this week. Again, we're going to have to keep talking because this is so big. Thanks so much
52:14for being with me tonight and I will see you in the next one. Bye-bye.
