It was the update Chiefs fans were waiting for. Patrick Mahomes spoke openly about his rehab process, calling it long but motivating as he continues to hit every medical checkpoint. Working in Kansas City and focused on regaining strength and mobility, Mahomes made it clear his ultimate goal is to be fully ready by Week 1 even if the process can’t be rushed.

00:00Yeah, first off, rehab's going great so far, you know, just hitting all the checkpoints
00:04that the doctor wants you to do and getting the strength and the range of mobility back.
00:10So that's been going great.
00:11Been doing all of it here in Kansas City so far.
00:13And Julie has been crushing it, pushing me.
00:17And the doctor kind of gives you, like, goals to get to, and I just try to maximize those.
00:21And they hold me back because I always want to go a little bit further.
00:24So it's been going great.
00:26I mean, obviously, I think the long term, I mean, I want to be ready for week one.
00:31The doctor said that I could be, but I can't predict what's going to happen throughout the process.
00:36But that's my goal.
00:38And so I'll try to prepare myself to be ready to play in that week one and have no restrictions.
00:42You know, you want to be out there healthy and giving us the best chance to win.
00:45And so, obviously, hopefully be able to do some stuff in OTAs and get to training camp
00:51and hopefully be able to do a lot there.
00:53So I'm excited for the process.
00:55It's a long process, but I'm excited for it.
