00:00An anti-ICE protester was arrested on Monday, January 12th, during a demonstration outside
00:17a federal building in Minneapolis. Reuters video showed agents forcing the protester to
00:25the snow-covered ground to make an arrest as protesters shouted at the officers.
00:33Tension erupted in Minnesota last week when a federal immigration officer shot and killed
00:39Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three who was observing the federal law enforcement
00:44action. U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem accused Good of domestic
00:54terrorism, saying she was attempting to ram the officer with her vehicle, while critics
01:00of the Trump administration have staged a series of protests to denounce the shooting as unjustified.
01:06Any loss of life is a tragedy, and I think all of us can agree that in this situation
01:12it was preventable. I've spoken to the president today on the situation here on the ground.
01:17I also just got off the phone a little while ago with Governor Walz and spoke to him as well.
01:21I want to reiterate first with all of you the facts of what happened today. At 1025 AM central time,
01:28Immigration and Customs Enforcement were carrying out lawful operations here in Minneapolis.
01:33Because of the adverse weather that Minneapolis has seen in recent snow, one of the vehicles became
01:38stuck and ensnared in the snow. Law enforcement were attempting to push out this vehicle and when a
01:44mob of agitators that were harassing them all day began blocking them in, shouting at them, and impeding
01:51law enforcement operations. ICE officers and agents approached the vehicle of the individual in
01:56question who was blocking the officers in with her vehicle, and she had been stalking and impeding
02:02their work all throughout the day. ICE agents repeatedly ordered her to get out of the car and to stop
02:08obstructing law enforcement, but she refused to obey their commands. She then proceeded to weaponize her
02:15vehicle, and she attempted to run a law enforcement officer over. This appears as an attempt to kill or to
02:22cause bodily harm to agents, an act of domestic terrorism. The ICE officer fearing for his life and the other
02:30officers around him and the safety of the public fired defensive shots. He used his training to save his own life and that of his
02:38colleagues. He was treated at a local hospital, has been released, and is now with family. I encourage
02:43the American people at this point in time to pray for him, but also to pray for the deceased's family
02:49and her loved ones. Today alone in this country, there have been four different domestic terrorist attacks
02:56on federal officers by the ramming of vehicles. Three of them happened here in Minneapolis. We've seen
03:03over 100 of these vehicle ramming happen in just recent weeks, and this must stop.
03:09ICE alone is facing a 1300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats
03:16against all of them. In fact, the very same officer who was attacked today had previously been dragged
03:22by an anti-ICE rioter who had rammed him with a car and drug him back in June. He sustained injuries at
03:29that time as well. And let me remind you why we're all here in this city today and why we've been here.
03:36In communities across this country and here in Minneapolis, we're just enforcing the laws
03:41that we have in this country. For years under President Biden, tens of millions of dangerous
03:46criminal illegal aliens, terrorists and suspected terrorists were allowed to invade our country over
03:52our southern border. They were allowed to steal, to defraud, and to perpetuate violence against
03:57American citizens. Regardless of who your mayor or who your governor is, President Trump promised
04:04every single American that he would make America safe again. He promised every single American that
04:10he would work to protect them from dangerous criminals. Since Governor Walz has been in charge of Minnesota,
04:16we have seen homicides go up by over 50%. That's also during Mayor Fry's tenure as well. Since President
04:24Trump took office, Governor Walz has released over 470 violent criminals back onto the streets
04:30here in Minneapolis. He has another 680 of them still within his jurisdiction that he could give to us
04:37today to face the consequences for their crimes. Because Governor Walz and Mayor Fry refused to protect
04:44Minnesotans and instead they protect these criminals, that's why we are here. And we didn't just show up yesterday,
04:50we've always been here. But we're surging operations because of the dangerous situation we see in this
04:55country and because we're no longer going to allow illegal criminals to damage and harm, to kill, to
05:03sexually abuse, to proliferate drugs, and to steal American taxpayers' dollars. This state has faced
05:10unprecedented immigration fraud. It's seen unprecedented benefit fraud. Individuals were allowed to come into
05:17this country and set up fake companies and fake nonprofits and divert billions of dollars away
05:23from American citizens and those vulnerable citizens who truly needed the services from those programs.
05:29This city has burned before and your mayor and your governor let it happen. President Trump is not
05:35going to let that happen. He and our federal law enforcement officers are here to bring peace and to
05:41bring public safety and to ensure that criminal activity is stopped and that people who perpetuate it will
05:47face consequences. Since we have been here in recent weeks, we have arrested over 1500 criminals off
05:56of the streets. Our law enforcement has arrested murderers, known and suspected terrorists, child
06:02pedophiles, and other brutal criminals that were protected here in this city. We should all work together to
06:08protect our citizens. We should all protect the men and the women and the families who live here in
06:13Minneapolis, who live in Minnesota and live throughout this entire country. I want to thank you for being
06:19here and I want to thank you for focusing on the important work that our federal officers do and
06:25make sure that we're focused on the priorities of this country and that's making sure that we're keeping
06:29people safe. We've come together and we're here to announce a lawsuit we're filing against the United
06:35States Department of Homeland Security to end the unlawful, unprecedented surge of the federal law
06:42enforcement agents into Minnesota. Because this has to stop. It just has to stop. We allege that the
06:51obvious targeting of Minnesota for our diversity, for our democracy, and our differences of opinion
06:59with the federal government is a violation of the Constitution and of federal law. We allege that the
07:06DHS's reckless impact on our schools, on our local law enforcement is a violation of the 10th Amendment
07:13and the sovereign laws and powers of the Constitution grants to states. We allege that DHS's use of
07:21excessive and lethal force, their warrantless racist arrests, their targeting of our courts,
07:29our churches, houses of worship, and schools are a violation of the administrative procedures act on
07:37arbitrary and capricious federal actions. And we ask that the courts will end the surge of thousands
07:46of DHS agents into Minnesota. We ask the courts to end the DHS unlawful behavior in our state. The
07:53intimidation, the threats, the violence. We ask the courts to end the tactics on our places of worship, our
08:00schools, our courts, our marketplaces, our hospitals, and even funeral homes. The Constitution gives Minnesota the
08:08sovereign authority to protect health and well-being of every single person who lives on our borders. The
08:15Constitution gives us the right to vote for who we want, pray however we want, and be whoever we want, without fear of
08:22being racially profiled, assaulted, or killed in our own communities. We're going to defend those rights
08:28because as much as they'd like to believe it, DHS is not above the law and the people of Minnesota are
08:36certainly not beneath it.
