00:00Switzerland on Friday held its final day of national mourning to remember the victims of a deadly bar fire on New Year's Eve in the ski resort town of Kron, Montana that killed 40 people and injured 116 others.
00:16A minute of silence for the victims was followed by church bells across the country ringing for five minutes at the start of a national day of mourning.
00:25Swiss President Guy Pamelon paid tribute to the victims, vowing to do everything to ensure that such a catastrophe does not happen again.
00:37Meanwhile, authorities said they arrested one of the managers of the Swiss bar on Thursday due to a potential risk of flight.
00:45The arrest comes as Swiss authorities revealed fire safety inspections hadn't been carried out since 2019.
00:53Investigators have said they believe sparkling candles atop champagne bottles started the bar fire when they came too close to the ceiling.
