00:00All right, here is Nick Casario.
00:02He spoke about D.K. Metcalf,
00:06and they have not had D.K. Metcalf the last two weeks
00:10because he decided to put his hands on a fan in Detroit.
00:14Could you imagine he had that field goal to have gone through?
00:17I mean, they may have cut his ass.
00:21Probably not, but they may have done.
00:22I mean, he'd have been in some real hot water.
00:25So, by the way, he's got a pretty motivated player.
00:30Coming into this game in D.K. Metcalf,
00:32and he's a really good receiver
00:36and can be a great receiver at times.
00:39But this was Nick Casario talking about D.K. Metcalf
00:42and potential problems he could present to this defense.
00:46Yeah, he's a significant problem.
00:48I mean, receivers don't grow on trees that look like that.
00:51I mean, he's big, he's strong, he's fast.
00:54When he gets a ball in his hands, talk about tackling.
00:56I mean, he's hard to get to the ground.
00:58He has a big play element, which he's certainly added to their offense.
01:01I mean, go back to the Baltimore game, not the last week here, but a few weeks ago.
01:05I mean, I think he had 150, 60 yards receiving.
01:08And, you know, Aaron's not afraid to give players an opportunity to make a play on the ball.
01:13Like, we saw that even going back to last year with the Jets,
01:15when he put the ball up there to Garrett Wilson,
01:17and Garrett made the play there in the end zone against Kamari.
01:20So, when you have a guy like D.K., you're thinking,
01:23well, I'm going to give my guy an opportunity to make a play on the ball,
01:26and once he gets a ball in his hand, like, we're going to have to tackle him.
01:29So, no, he's a big part of their offense,
01:31and I'm sure they're excited to have him back for our game.
01:34All right, Clint, and the people you can jump in on this,
01:37713-572-416, YouTube and Twitch, as usual.
01:41So, he's not the best receiver in the league.
01:46They've faced some really good receivers.
01:49Smith and Jigba in Seattle, I think probably had the best year this season.
01:55They've faced some really good receivers in the league this year.
02:01But he is a different type of receiver, Clint,
02:04and I think that's going to be the number one thing that they're discussing.
02:11is how do we approach handling D.K. Metcalf?
02:16He is a big-bodied receiver, speed, can catch the ball in traffic.
02:23He is a big play guy, as Nick Casario just talked about.
02:27But the Texans have the two best corner tandem in football
02:33with Kamari Lasseter, who will be back, you would assume, and Derek Stingley Jr.
02:38How do you approach handling this situation?
02:41Do you travel him with, you know, Derek Stingley,
02:46what they've done in the past, or not?
02:48Like, how would you handle D.K. Metcalf in this?
02:51Well, it's the big play element is what scares you.
02:56What Nick Casario said.
02:57That's the part that scares you, coupled with the fact that he's got
03:00one of the most elite passers of the football
03:04that can still spin it in an elite fashion, throwing the ball to him.
03:08So that's the part that scares you, right?
03:12I lean more towards staying in the structure of your defense
03:17unless it becomes a problem for this, for D.K. Metcalf.
03:21I do think there is a slight size difference on the, I mean,
03:28if you look at the depth chart or you look at the bio of each player
03:33between Derek Stingley and Kamari Lasseter, I mean, it's 15 pounds
03:37and a couple of inches max.
03:38I mean, but the reality of it is, is Derek Stingley's a more well-built corner,
03:43just a bigger, longer corner.
03:44So I think he probably has a better chance to come.
03:49Kamari's physical is hell.
03:52Yeah, yeah.
03:53It's, but I think I would stay in structure and try to eliminate,
04:00and let's see if Will Anderson and Daniil,
04:03and what I've done all year long to create the chaos around an immobile quarterback,
04:08let's see if I can force the ball out quick.
04:10Let's see if I can force some errant throws, get some turnovers.
04:13But if all of a sudden I see that, hey, man, we're not,
04:15our pressures aren't getting home with four,
04:17and Aaron Rodgers has got too much time back there,
04:19I've got to find a way to take D.K. Metcalf.
04:22Because the truth is, if you take D.K. Metcalf out of the game,
04:26I like Calvin Austin.
04:29You know, I like, what's the cat?
04:31They got Adam Thielen.
04:32What's the other cat that's been, MV?
04:35Oh, MVS.
04:36Yeah.
04:37Isn't that who's with him there too?
04:38Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:38Yeah, so I mean, you know, I like some of those guys,
04:40but if you take that big horse out of the game,
04:42and you, I mean, the threat, the big play threat,
04:46the ability to separate, man, it is, you know,
04:51significantly decreased.
04:52And so I could see a situation where they get Derek Stingley mirroring him
04:57and following him, but I don't think from jump,
04:59I think from jump I'm going to stay in structure.
05:01I'm with you.
05:01I think Kamari Lashner has earned that and has played to that level.
05:09And I think his physicality, I mean, I think he is,
05:14if not one of the best tackling corners in the league, he's physical.
05:19I mean, I said it to you guys before the show,
05:22I think he gets a sports woody thinking about the potential that he can have
05:29with D.K. Metcalf.
05:30I do wonder, though, Ron, of like, and I'll be honest with you,
05:35I'm probably a little bit overemphasizing it
05:39because I've stood on the sideline next to him.
05:41He's a big.
05:43You can be as physical as you want,
05:45but if your arms ain't long enough and you ain't got enough lead in your ass,
05:48again, I mean, he's a horse, man.
05:50I mean, he's a dip.
05:51I mean, the only guy that I didn't stand next to,
05:54we played him a few times, but I never got close to him,
05:56was old boy in Detroit.
05:58Yeah, I mean, that's right.
06:00That's the only, but I mean, still, I mean, this is, I mean, he is an absolute horse,
06:04and so I do wonder if the sheer size of D.K. Metcalf isn't a problem for,
06:14even though he's the more physical guy,
06:17I wonder if that D.K. Metcalf, the size isn't a tad bit overwhelming.
06:22I mean, it just, Stingley looks significantly bigger than Kamari Lasseter
06:27when you see him on the field.
06:28They look significantly bigger, and I wonder if Stingley could handle,
06:32if he becomes a problem, I would venture to say Stingley could handle him a little bit better.
06:36Yeah, and someone text in, and I think you, I'd agree with you as well,
06:41and I think, I'm sorry, I think you would agree with this as well,
06:44you handled D.K. with 51 and 55, period.
06:47Rodgers has to be more uncomfortable than Josh Allen in Houston on Thursday night.
06:53No, but you also know, like, you're going to probably get a lot of back shoulder.
06:59You're going to get a lot of, like, stuff where it's down the field, but it's quick.
07:05Yeah.
07:06Right?
07:06And you're trying to use his size to go up.
07:13So, I mean, you know, I don't know what they do in terms of do they follow
07:19or do they keep it just straight up.
07:21I do know they need to follow if he's in the slot, though.
07:24Like, if they start to put him in the slot, I think, like, to me,
07:28I would feel very comfortable all the time if one of those two were covering him.
07:33Yeah.
07:33I don't know that I love anybody else in the secondary having to cover him
07:39unless it is just a flat-ass double that you can just clearly see right off the bat,
07:45which, hell, that might be what you need to do anyway just because there's just going to be a lot of,
07:51all right, jump ball or contested catches type of situation.
07:58He's just – he's not a versatile enough player for me to change what I do defensively.
08:04You know what I mean?
08:04He's not a – he's not a Jamar Chase.
08:07He's not a Smith and Jigba.
08:10He's not a – he's not a – I mean, he's a below-average route runner.
08:14He's got more Mike Evans kind of like –
08:17He's got more Mike Evans from a play style.
08:20And then if you want to talk about, like, kind of how he's used, it's more kind of like Nico.
08:24Hey, man, we're going to put you over here on the boundary receiver
08:27and I'm going to find a way to get you the ball if they single you up or –
08:31like, I don't know how much they're going to move him.
08:34I haven't studied the Rams a ton, but every time I watch him, he's pretty stagnant, pretty stationary.
08:40So, yeah, I agree with you, man.
08:41Like, more of a Mike Evans play style and within that offense doesn't move a whole lot.
08:45And so, yeah, he would have to become a major –
08:51the problem is, again, is the boogeyman for this defense has been the big play.
08:59And when –
09:01And he can move once he gets going straight.
09:03And he's got a huge catch window.
09:05He can run by you.
09:07I mean, he's a load once he does catch the ball.
09:10So, I mean, all the things that have been a bugaboo for this defense,
09:12I think D.K. Metcalf presents a problem.
09:15Now, again, 51 and 55 can shut that down quicker than anybody.
09:21We'll see if they can on Monday.
09:23Text line coming through, you're wrong for comparing him to Evans or Nico.
09:27Like, no, I mean, the Evans part is, like, Mike Evans doesn't run a ton of routes.
09:33And D.K. Metcalf doesn't run a ton of routes either.
09:36Like, there's a lot of D.K. and Mike Evans run straight down with a hand up.
09:40Sure.
09:40To use their size.
09:42And they may run some slants.
09:44And then I think the point you were making with Nico is they just don't move him.
09:48They don't move him.
09:48You know where he's at.
09:49He's easy to track.
09:51But, no, Mike Evans and him, they –
09:53Like, you're not seeing a lot of different routes coming from those two guys.
09:59They're on the outside doing a lot of down the field.
10:04Yep.
10:04Hands up.
10:05Let's –
10:05That's right.
10:06Yeah.
10:06Yeah.
