00:07very common business model the problem is when your business model is telling
00:12your readers over and over that trans people are a danger to you that is a
00:19story that is getting people hurt I looked at the front page coverage of the
00:25New York Times for 12 months they published more front page articles that
00:29framed trans people as a threat then they did articles about trans people being
00:35threatened it's shocking at the start of 2021 zero states banned health care for
00:41trans adolescents in 2024 23 states ban it in the process of legitimizing those
00:48bans state legislatures cite the New York Times the coverage is creating the law
00:56next week ACLU attorney Chase Strangia will become the first openly trans
01:01attorney to argue a case before the US Supreme Court we've heard a lot about
01:06this is about protecting children first and foremost these bills harm children
01:09this is about categorically attacking the trans community when our access to
01:15life-saving medical care is up for debate that is deeply dehumanizing they think
01:22they have all the power that they can bully our young people and that they can do so
01:27without any accountability and so we're gonna show them that that's not the case
01:32it's a story about an attempt to roll back civil rights for a very marginalized population
01:40I'm proud of being a trans girl to the trans community to the people who love trans people we
01:45are in this together we love you we care about you and we will keep fighting we will get there the
01:54the work that we are doing right now will be pivotal
01:58but you know why we always gotta you know be civil rights leaders and stuff you
02:05know what I mean like I would like to just live and exist like everybody else
