00:06:29Happy Thanksgiving to you.
00:06:30Thank you, Mrs. Simmons.
00:06:31Thank you, Mrs. Simmons.
00:06:31I thought that it was important for us to meet today because, as you know, I've been working
00:06:52with Todd the last few months.
00:06:53Dr. Berman's Patient Consultation Notes, November 22nd, 1984.
00:06:59Saw Maddie Simmons, Todd's mother, for the first time today.
00:07:03I don't think she was quite prepared for what I told her, that after ten years, Todd was
00:07:08starting to remember what had happened in the drive-in that night.
00:07:12Facing the fact that Todd's memory of the incident cast suspicion on his twin brother,
00:07:16Terry, was not that easy for her.
00:07:19On Terry?
00:07:21What?
00:07:21Are you crazy?
00:07:22Her position on another issue was also somewhat negative.
00:07:25No!
00:07:26No!
00:07:27No more tests!
00:07:28No more tests!
00:07:30My children are not skinny pigs!
00:07:33My past work with hysterical patients helped me calm her down.
00:07:37I'm sorry.
00:07:41Though calmer, Maddie's level of resistance was still quite high.
00:07:46I wondered, how would she react when confronted with Todd himself?
00:07:50How would Todd respond to Maddie in view of his new recollections?
00:07:54I was not without worry.
00:07:56After all, I had never seen the two of them together.
00:08:00Maddie treated Todd like a child, as if no time had passed since the evening of the murder.
00:08:13Their initial tension was predictable in light of Todd's breakthrough.
00:08:18The trauma of watching his twin commit murder had made Todd catatonic.
00:08:23In that state, he couldn't fight what he now sees as punishment for a crime he did not commit.
00:08:29Maddie persisted in defending Terry and espousing her notion of one big happy family,
00:08:34without realizing that such ideas had ceased to have any meaning for Todd.
00:08:38Family, I don't, I don't care about it.
00:08:43His world, and my work, were beginning to crumble.
00:08:50Honey, honey, just stop it. Honey, please.
00:08:56But in spite of the dramatic nature of today's outburst,
00:09:00I considered the setback relatively minor,
00:09:03because Todd remained focused on establishing his innocence
00:09:06and getting on with a normal life.
00:09:08Get me out of here! I never killed anybody!
00:09:10I must now begin the long process comparing him
00:09:13to the dangers of the world from which he has been sheltered.
00:09:15All right, you rush. I'm going to cover Karen.
00:09:22As for Terry, he mustn't find out that I suspect him.
00:09:26He's been normal for ten years.
00:09:29But who knows what will trigger another kid.
00:09:32I think I got you.
00:09:36Come on, it's a football game, not a kissing contest.
00:09:53You must be teary!
00:09:54Your mom's told me all about you.
00:09:56I'm Beth, your new neighbor.
00:09:57This is Andrea.
00:09:58She's just home from college, too.
00:10:01Your mom invited us for Thanksgiving tonight,
00:10:03and we would both be just delighted to come.
00:10:05Great.
00:10:06Why don't you play football with us?
00:10:08I don't really know anybody's here yet.
00:10:11Oh, come on. You'll have fun.
00:10:13Hey, who's that good-looking chick there?
00:10:15I don't know.
00:10:19Listen, everybody. Let's go for a swim.
00:10:21Come on, Karen. Let's go.
00:10:22You never told me that one.
00:10:36Before we start,
00:10:39Brad and I
00:10:40have an announcement to make.
00:10:45Come on, now.
00:10:46You tell them.
00:10:49Well, we're going to tie the knot.
00:10:51We're getting married.
00:10:52We're getting married.
00:11:02Congratulations, Mom.
00:11:04Oh, Terry.
00:11:06Oh, Terry.
00:11:08I love you so much.
00:11:12Oh, that's really nice.
00:11:16Congratulations.
00:11:17I'm happy for you both.
00:11:18I really am.
00:11:20Thanks.
00:11:21I guess the toast is in order.
00:11:24Oh, a toast.
00:11:28Here's to the new family.
00:11:29That's nice.
00:11:31Well, I'd say that this big bird is ready for carving.
00:11:44Terry, you do the honors.
00:11:50Well, seeing as how we have a new head of the family,
00:11:52I think it's time you started pulling your own weight around here.
00:11:55Thanks, buddy.
00:11:56Listen, dig in, everybody.
00:12:04Dig in.
00:12:05I mean, on the other stuff.
00:12:07Oh, great.
00:12:08Okay.
00:12:09Oh, excuse me.
00:12:10I'll be right back.
00:12:12I'm so hungry.
00:12:14So, Andrea, tell me, what year are you in?
00:12:19Junior.
00:12:19Junior?
00:12:20Oh, it's my first year.
00:12:22I really love it, though.
00:12:23My classes are great.
00:12:25I was like that for about a week.
00:12:27Then all I wanted to do was party and play tennis.
00:12:31You play tennis?
00:12:32Yeah.
00:12:33Well, we should play sometime.
00:12:34Great.
00:12:35You've got to have friends here.
00:12:37This place is slow death.
00:12:39And at Christmas, we're going to be stuck here for a week.
00:12:41Oh, we'll find something for you to do.
00:12:44I hope so.
00:12:46Oh, I'm babysitting for Julie tonight.
00:12:49Why don't you come by?
00:12:50I'm going to be so bored.
00:12:52Well, I'd love to.
00:12:54Great.
00:12:54Terry, could you help me for a moment?
00:12:58Coming, Mom.
00:13:05That was the school that just called.
00:13:09They can't find Todd.
00:13:11What do you mean, they can't find Todd?
00:13:14Did he run away?
00:13:16And they think he might come here.
00:13:18Oh, wow.
00:13:21What are we supposed to do?
00:13:26They're out looking for him now.
00:13:28And his doctor is on their way over here.
00:13:32Brad, are you almost done?
00:13:34I want a slice of turkey.
00:13:35I'm getting there.
00:13:36You're right.
00:13:36Hurry up.
00:13:37Listen, let's just pretend that nothing's happened.
00:13:43I just don't want to spoil things.
00:13:46I mean, it is Thanksgiving.
00:13:47And everyone's been looking forward to the dinner so much.
00:13:51Anybody else need more turkey?
00:13:52No, I'm pretty good.
00:13:53Thanks.
00:13:54For a minute.
00:13:55Very nice.
00:13:59Everything okay?
00:14:01Hot bread, everybody.
00:14:03Looks like you're going to get a chance to meet the rest of the family.
00:14:06My psychotic brother just escaped.
00:14:10Terry, is something really wrong with him?
00:14:12Or is he just a little lonely?
00:14:14Andrea, I'm just asking.
00:14:16Could you pass the green beans, please?
00:14:19Brad?
00:14:20Oh, I have green beans.
00:14:21Yeah, sure.
00:14:22Thanks.
00:14:24Gee, this looks good, Mom.
00:14:46It's been a long day.
00:15:11Time for you to get off your feet.
00:15:14Why don't you get out of here, and I'll finish up.
00:15:23I think everything went very well.
00:15:29The turkey was perfect.
00:15:44The turkey was great.
00:16:01I'm sorry, I can't now.
00:16:20I mean, Terry's in the next room and Todd's out there all alone.
00:16:26I'm just so worried.
00:16:27What if he comes here?
00:16:29Hey, hey, don't worry.
00:16:31I'll be here.
00:16:33We'll handle it.
00:16:40I'm sorry.
00:16:41I guess I'm just a little nervous, that's all.
00:16:44Maybe if I straighten the place up a little, I'll feel better.
00:16:47That's what I'm gonna do.
00:16:48I'm gonna just straighten the place up.
00:16:49Hey, hey, hey, hey, babe.
00:16:50It's okay.
00:16:51I mean, you know, he's probably hiding in the closet back at school.
00:16:56So relax.
00:16:57Okay.
00:16:58I'm so glad you're here.
00:16:59Hey.

00:17:53first turned into a wacko?
00:17:54Come on, Mom.
00:17:55It's all right.
00:17:56We'll do the talking.
00:17:57It's all right.

00:18:13You can tell me where I should start looking.
00:18:15Okay.
00:18:16We got about 10 acres here.
00:18:17Now, if he were on the grounds,
00:18:19he would probably be hiding on one of the back patios.
00:18:22Mm-hmm.
00:18:23And we have a nature walk through the woods right back here.
00:18:25You might want to check that.
00:18:27Do you keep any guards here?
00:18:29No, we never had any trouble before.
00:18:31All right.
00:18:32I'm gonna start looking with Jackie.
00:18:34Where will we find you when we're finished?
00:18:36Okay.
00:18:37My office is in room 137, right down there.
00:18:39If you need any help, that's where I'll be.
00:18:41Fine.
00:18:43Sure.
00:18:44Jackie, you're gonna go down there and you're gonna search all the patios.
00:18:49And I'm gonna go out into the woods.
00:18:51But, Dr. B, maybe I oughta go with you, you know, in case there's a problem.
00:18:55Jackie, I need to take care of myself.
00:18:57Give me the gun and just go.
00:18:59Now.
00:19:00This is the Lord Never Sleep Bible Show.
00:19:01And since the Lord never sleeps, neither do we.
00:19:02We'll be broadcasting prayer and music and reading from the good book all through the night.
00:19:17And if you know what's good for you, stay tuned.
00:19:19Hello?
00:19:20Oh, thank God.
00:19:21No, I'm just so worried.
00:19:22Everything's okay.
00:19:23The doctor and her assistant are out looking around.
00:19:24They're not gonna find anything.
00:19:25But just in case, I'm here.
00:19:26You know, stop it.
00:19:27It's okay.
00:19:28It's okay.
00:19:29It's okay.

00:19:38You're alright.
00:19:39You're alright.
00:19:40What's going on?
00:19:41What's going on?
00:20:02Well, look what the cat brought in.
00:20:32Todd?
00:20:43Todd, are you out there?
00:20:48Come on out.
00:20:50Damn, Todd.
00:20:51This isn't funny.
00:20:53Shit, get a grip on yourself.
00:20:59Todd, Dr. B's gonna kill both of us if I don't bring you back.
00:21:04Todd?
00:21:05Todd, I don't like this, Todd.
00:21:08You better come back.

00:21:30Oh, that's the lunatic.
00:21:37Terry, right?

00:22:01Well, that's all right.
00:22:03Damn, you guys sure look a lot alike.
00:22:06Hey, Dr. Berman told me to relax, so I was relaxing.
00:22:11Hey, you want a hit?
00:22:12Sure.
00:22:13Thanks.
00:22:14You know what else Dr. Berman told me?
00:22:16Mm-mm.
00:22:17What?
00:22:18She told me that Todd never killed anybody.

00:27:19So, um, listen.
00:27:21We didn't get much of a chance to talk at dinner,
00:27:23and, well, you wanna talk?
00:27:27Hey.
00:27:29You're high, aren't you?
00:27:31You always get real quiet when you're high.
00:27:35Well, Terry?
00:27:37Well, look, um...
00:27:39You know, we've both been away at school, and...
00:27:41I don't know.
00:27:42We haven't talked to each other.
00:27:43You haven't written me any letters,
00:27:44and I've hardly even seen you since you've gotten back.
00:27:47And...
00:27:48Well, I don't know, Terry.
00:27:49I just love you a lot, and...
00:27:51Well, I want you to make love to me.
00:27:53You're shocked, huh?
00:27:55Well, Terry, come on.
00:27:57I wish you'd say something.
00:27:59I'm not Terry.
00:28:00I'm Todd.

00:28:02Terry's brother?

00:28:30Oh, yeah? Well, um, you really ought to try it sometime.
00:28:33I gotta go. Bye.
00:28:43Hey, Artie! Artie, come here! Hurry up!
00:28:47Come here.
00:28:48You guys are not gonna believe this.
00:28:51Terry's insane brother is here. I just saw him out back.
00:28:55Are you crazy or something? This guy isn't something like that.
00:28:57No, really. They called during dinner. He escaped.
00:29:01Oh, shit. We better find Terry.
00:29:03Oh, no way. I am not going back there. Uh-uh.
00:29:06We'll go.
00:29:07Oh, great. The both of you?
00:29:09I'd better stay with Carol.
00:29:10Listen, I'm not afraid of this guy.
00:29:16Just the case.
00:29:17Wait a minute, Artie. That is ridiculous.
00:29:20Don't be stupid.
00:29:29Yo, Simmons!
00:29:31Are you back here?
00:29:34Well, he looked exactly like Terry.
00:29:36Except he had this really wild, crazed look in his eyes.
00:29:40I mean, I almost peed in my pants.
00:29:42It's pretty scary.
00:29:43Yeah.
00:29:44What are you doing?
00:29:47You're just trying to calm me down a little bit.
00:29:49Well, stop it. You're just making me more nervous.
00:29:52There's nobody back here.
00:29:56Maybe we should call the police.
00:29:57I'm calling you Jets.
00:29:58When Terry gets here, he'll know what to do.
00:30:00Yeah, but you guys, don't you think we should be doing something?
00:30:03God, that's horrible.
00:30:16How did they show that on TV?
00:30:18What are you doing?
00:30:30What's going on here, you two?
00:30:34Absolutely nothing.
00:30:38Baby, you okay?
00:30:39Well, a little bugger didn't make a sound.
00:30:42Oh, thank you so much, Andy, honey.
00:30:43You're welcome.
00:30:44Um, Julie, the ten dollars.
00:30:46Ten dollars?
00:30:50Well, I'll look.
00:30:52Oh, yeah, please.
00:30:54Let me take care of this, all right?
00:30:57Oh, thank you.
00:30:59No problem.
00:31:02Looks like you two have had quite a party.
00:31:06I wouldn't drive anywhere if I were you.
00:31:08Oh, Bill.
00:31:11They're neighbors.
00:31:13And, uh, besides, I told them they could help themselves.
00:31:17Well, you know, I'm only looking out for you.
00:31:19You could get in trouble for getting minors intoxicated.
00:31:22We're not minors, sir.
00:31:24Good night.
00:31:25Oh, don't pay any attention to him.
00:31:27He's just looking out for me.
00:31:32Would you have some more beer?
00:31:34Hey, wait a minute.
00:31:35Isn't that Terry over there?
00:31:37Where?
00:31:37Right over there.
00:31:38Yeah, it is.
00:31:39We've got to check this out.
00:31:40Terry, I just saw your brother, and he tried to kiss me.
00:31:54At least he has your taste.
00:31:56Hey, I've got a great idea.
00:31:58Why don't we have a welcome home party for Terry's crazy brother?
00:32:01Not funny, Greg.
00:32:04Did you see him for real, or are you goofing on me?
00:32:06Yes, I saw him for real.
00:32:08Do you think I'm going to kid you about something like that?
00:32:12Hey, where are you going?
00:32:14To find him.
00:32:16Look, you don't understand.
00:32:17He's nuts.
00:32:17That's why they locked him up.
00:32:19It's like the rest of your family.
00:32:20That's not funny, man.
00:32:22That's not funny.
00:32:23Hey, what's eating you?
00:32:24Chill out.
00:32:29Hey, should I come with you?
00:32:32No.
00:32:34Greg, do you think he's really pissed off?
00:32:36Nah.
00:32:37Hey, you guys, forget about him.
00:32:39If you're really serious about doing some partying, let's go back to my place.
00:32:42My mom's gone for the night.
00:32:43I've got plenty of stuff.
00:32:45How about it?
00:32:45Sounds good to me.
00:32:46What about you, Artie?
00:32:47You don't have to twist my own.
00:32:48Let's go.
00:32:49Karen, come on.
00:32:54Yeah, Karen, come with us.
00:33:16He's here.
00:33:17What?
00:33:18Todd is here.
00:33:22Here?
00:33:24The doctor?
00:33:26No, he's still loose.
00:33:30Oh, my God.
00:33:31Karen said that she saw him.
00:33:34I can't find that doctor anywhere.
00:33:36I think maybe she left.
00:33:38Where's Brad?
00:33:41I don't know.
00:33:42Oh, my God.
00:33:42Should we call the police?
00:34:06No.
00:34:08No.
00:34:08Fine, Brad.
00:34:11He's probably out looking.
00:34:14I'll stay here in case Todd comes home.
00:34:18But, Terry, be very careful.
00:34:21He's probably very frightened.
00:34:24And, Terry, please put on a sweater.
00:34:27It's called that side.
00:34:28It's called that side.
00:34:30The blue one.
00:34:31Tinker.
00:34:32Tinker.
00:34:32Tinker.
00:34:33Hi.
00:34:33Tinker.
00:34:35Tinker.
00:34:37Hi.
00:34:38I've lost my cat.
00:34:39Have you seen it?
00:34:39Tinker!
00:34:50Tinker!
00:34:53Hi.
00:34:54I've lost my cat. Have you seen it?
00:34:57No.
00:34:58But do you know what?
00:35:00What?
00:35:01Cats have a way of finding their own way home.
00:35:04And I think that you should go home, too.
00:35:06Because there's a bad person out here tonight. Okay?
00:35:11Okay.
00:35:11So go home and lock your door.
00:35:14And don't let anybody in. Not anybody.
00:35:16No matter what they say.
00:35:18Okay.
00:35:26I'm going to whip you like a stepchild.
00:35:29So, Andrea, what are we going to do here?
00:35:31Okay, I'm going to teach you how to drink tequila right.
00:35:33Okay? Now you lick your hand.
00:35:35Mm-hmm.
00:35:36Come on.
00:35:37Okay, now dunk it in the salt.
00:35:40I have my own method.
00:35:42Okay, now I'm going to lick the salt and then down the drink real fast and then take a bite of lemon.
00:35:46Okay?
00:35:47Mm-hmm.
00:35:48Take your hand.
00:35:50Okay.
00:35:52Lemon.
00:35:58Not too bad, huh?
00:35:59Mm-hmm.
00:35:59That is gross.
00:36:00Tell me what happened tonight with Terry's brother.
00:36:05Did you kiss him or what?
00:36:07No way.
00:36:09I felt like a real jerk, too.
00:36:12At first, I thought it was Terry, but he seemed strange.
00:36:15Then he came out of the shadow and I realized it was his brother.
00:36:19And he had this really weird look on his face.
00:36:22And then he told me he's never kissed a girl before.
00:36:26Oh, how creepy.
00:36:31I really hope they catch him.
00:36:33Me, too.
00:36:34Hey, guys.
00:36:36Hey, hi.
00:36:36How are you?
00:36:39Well, if one of those things are on, you can write off this night.
00:36:42The girl's having a good time back there?
00:36:45Oh, sure.
00:36:45Just talking about the bad old days when guys were horny all the time.
00:36:48Oh, that sounds like my kind of conversation.
00:36:53Hey, I'm already.
00:36:54I'll take you on.
00:36:55And I bet you I beat you, too.
00:36:57Oh, come on, Karen.
00:36:58You know you can't beat me.
00:36:59Ha, that's what you think.
00:37:02When's my turn?
00:37:03When I'm finished.
00:37:04Oh, look, you're going to crash a little bit.
00:37:04No, I'm not.
00:37:05Yes, you are.
00:37:06You're not, no, I'm not.
00:37:07You are, too.
00:37:08You're the merrier.
00:37:09Oh, you've already crashed.
00:37:12Too bad.
00:37:15Creme de menthe.
00:37:16I'll be right with you, honey.
00:37:23Wow.
00:37:24Coconut liqueur.
00:37:26I never had a coconut liqueur.
00:37:28What do you do?
00:37:29You take it straight or on the rocks?
00:37:31Well, anywhere you like it.
00:37:36Not for children.
00:37:40It's the only thing to put on a liquor bottle.
00:37:43Not for children.
00:37:44Of course, it's not for children.
00:37:48Read it again.
00:37:57Body liquor.
00:38:00I thought you might like an appetizer.
00:38:02Why don't I just slip into something more comfortable?
00:38:25Sure.
00:38:26Sure.
00:38:26Sure.
00:38:26Sure.
00:38:26Sure.

00:38:40Hi.
00:38:40Hmm. Would you get that, please?
00:38:44Sure.
00:38:52It's that kid who just left.
00:38:55Well, find out what he wants.

00:44:49You still did better than me.
00:44:52It's awful quiet in here.
00:44:54Yeah, I know. Where'd Andrea and Greg go?

00:45:54In working order, that number is in work.
00:46:24Oh, no, no, no, that's impossible. It's impossible. You must have dialed the wrong number.
00:46:31No, he's definitely there. Could you please just recheck that number for me?
00:46:34Because this is a real emergency.
00:46:38Why not?
00:46:41Look, look, look, look, you don't seem to understand.
00:46:47This is a real emergency.

00:47:24I'll swing my racket.
00:47:26Come on, be easy on me.

00:49:44He ran away from his mental institution.
00:49:48Now, well, I was there earlier today to bring him his pie.
00:49:58I always bring him an individual piece of pie with a white plastic fork and a napkin.
