In a recent poll on the Cycling Weekly YouTube channel we discovered that 84% of you don't believe Wilier's claims about its latest Filante SLR ID2 road bike, we take a closer look at the road bike in question, discuss the new 2026 Specialized Aethos, is it now an endurance road bike?

We also discuss Look's new Keo Vision Pedals, pro cycling transfer news, Rapha's current situation and the news that Lezyne has partnered with Schwalbe's Clik valves which could signify a shift in bike valves.

00:00Breaking news, the French have done something cool.
00:03I have absolutely no idea why no one has thought of this sooner,
00:07to be fair, they might have,
00:08but Look are the first of the mainstream brands to make pedals
00:11with lights in them a reality.
00:14Now, the great thing about having light here
00:17is that they use your biomotion to make you more visible.
00:21According to Look, five and a half times more visible
00:24compared to a standard fixed light attached to a seat post.
00:27As for stats, they weigh 20 grams, have IPX7 water resistance,
00:3160 lumens output,
00:32and you can either buy them pre-installed onto the pedals,
00:35or you can purchase a kit to fit them
00:38to your existing KeoBlade pedals for this much.
00:41Are they legal though?
00:43Well, I'm gonna leave you to debate that one
00:45in the comments below,
00:47because in the UK, we have an article in the Highway Code
00:50that says pedals must have reflectors fitted.
00:54Are these reflectors?
00:55I'm unsure on that one,
00:57but as most of us know, it's rarely listened to.
00:59I don't think it's ever been enforced,
01:01and I think we can all agree
01:02that these genuinely could help to make cyclists safer.
01:05So let me know in the comments below,
01:07A, would you use a set of these,
01:09and B, do you think they're legal?
01:11As for other bike news,
01:13let's head to the studio and find out.
01:15Right, first of all, the road season is over,
01:18but that doesn't mean that there's no news from the World Tour,
01:21and potentially the biggest news from the last few weeks
01:24is that it's official.
01:26Q36.5 will be riding Pinarello bikes next year.
01:29But not only that,
01:30Pinarello will also be in their name.
01:33Yep, Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling.
01:36They'll be hoping to be the next Italian powerhouse.
01:39So what does that mean for Ineos?
01:42Well, they'll also be on Pinarello bikes,
01:44at least for a few more years.
01:46But at the moment,
01:47it looks as though, Scott,
01:48they don't have a place in the World Tour Peloton.
01:51Speaking of other teams,
01:53Intermarche and Lotto are set to merge resources,
01:56but no news yet on whether that team
01:58will be on either Cube or Orbea bikes,
02:00or maybe someone else.
02:02We do know that green jersey winner Binyam Gamay
02:04will be off though.
02:06He's heading to Israel Premier Tech,
02:08or whatever they choose to call themselves,
02:10as that too is changing.
02:12In total, 20 men's teams have applied
02:14for World Tour status next year,
02:16but only 18 spots are going begging.
02:18With Intermarche not applying though,
02:21it looks as though Uno X will be the final team
02:24to get the call up.
02:27From World Tour to some more down-to-earth tech now,
02:31and you'll all remember Schwalbe's click valve system
02:34that promised to kill off Presta once and for all.
02:37Well, it finally looks like there's been some progress
02:40on that front,
02:41as Lezyne, or Lezyne, however I meant to say it,
02:43has launched a whole host of pumps using click valves.
02:47Now, you might be asking, why is this newsworthy?
02:50And well, because I think that this will affect
02:53all of us road cyclists in the near future.
02:56The Presta valve is just no longer fit for purpose.
02:59Tire volumes are much bigger.
03:01Lots of people are using tubeless,
03:02which bungs them up.
03:04They can get damaged.
03:05They get seized.
03:06I could go on,
03:07but in my opinion,
03:07they're overdue a replacement.
03:10Now, don't get me wrong.
03:11There are some positives.
03:12For example,
03:13it's just about the only standard
03:14on a modern road bike
03:15that is actually a standard.
03:17I have used some click valves
03:19and I reckon they are better.
03:21They're more reliable,
03:22they're easier to use,
03:23and they allow a higher volume of air
03:25to pass through them.
03:27Now, Lezyne adopting this tech,
03:29I think,
03:30could be the catalyst
03:31for a much wider uptake in the industry.
03:33So don't be surprised
03:34if you see a lot more of these
03:36on your group rides soon.
03:37Right.
03:40Other recent new tech releases.
03:42It's been quieter.
03:43There was that Van Riesel trainer though.
03:46Or Van Riesel.
03:47God,
03:47there was all of them.
03:48Names today.
03:49But only one of those new trainers
03:51was actually new.
03:53The RCR with Zwift's cog and click system.
03:55It's got an RRP of $749.99
03:58or just under €800,
04:01max resistance of 2,800 watts,
04:04a plus or minus 1% power accuracy,
04:06and an under 56 decibels of noise claim.
04:10Is that good?
04:11That sounds quite loud.
04:12Well, on here it says
04:13zero is the threshold of human hearing.
04:16Breathing is about 10.
04:18A quiet room is about 20.
04:2050, so about the new turbo,
04:23is a conversation.
04:24Although 60 is then alarm clock,
04:26so it gets violent quite quickly.
04:30Anyway, we've got one on its way in,
04:33and if those claims are found to be true,
04:35then it certainly looks like
04:36it could be a strong contender.
04:38I just hope that the power
04:39doesn't go haywire when it gets hot,
04:41like on the last Van Riesel trainer I used.
04:44And also,
04:44why do they put a Zwift cog and click system on it?
04:48It's a great system, for sure,
04:50but it seems better suited
04:51to maybe the D100 and D500,
04:53but is anyone who's spending £750 on a turbo
04:57really thinking,
04:58great, I don't need to choose a cassette
05:00at the checkout?
05:01Maybe I'm just being harsh.
05:02Let me know in the comments below.
05:05Now, whether you ride a commuter,
05:07a road bike,
05:08a gravel bike,
05:09or a mountain bike,
05:10this video has been brought to you
05:11by the Insurance Emporium.
05:13If you're considering getting your bike insured,
05:16or perhaps want to explore another provider,
05:19the Insurance Emporium is worth checking out.
05:21They have a de facto five-star rating,
05:23a Trust Pilot score of excellent,
05:25and a FIFO Platinum Trusted Service.
05:27You can cover up to six bikes on one policy,
05:30all of which can be protected
05:31from things like theft,
05:33loss,
05:33or accidental damage.
05:35Now, we all know having anything bad happen
05:37to your pride and joy is always painful,
05:39but with an insurance policy,
05:41you can at least mitigate some of that heartache
05:43by knowing that someone has your back,
05:46especially when they offer new for old for life,
05:49so that you can replace your bike
05:50with a new one of a similar value
05:52should it be stolen,
05:54lost,
05:54or accidentally damaged.
05:55If you'd like to check them out,
05:57then there's a link down below,
05:59and there's also details
06:00on how to take advantage of up to 20% off.
06:05Also this month,
06:06we've had a new bike from Villier,
06:08which came with an accompanying trailer,
06:11which might just be the strangest thing
06:13we've seen in the last few years.
06:15The video department weren't the only ones
06:17getting creative though,
06:19so were whoever came up
06:20with these performance claims.
06:22So, this is the new Filante SLR ID2,
06:25the brand's aero bike,
06:27and, well, apparently they've succeeded
06:29with great success.
06:31It's apparently 13.6% less draggy
06:34than its predecessor.
06:35Yep, yep, that is a lot.
06:38How slow was the old bike?
06:40But that's not all.
06:41Villier also reckons that in direct comparisons
06:44with five competitor bikes,
06:45the Filante SLR ID2
06:47is said to have an average
06:48aerodynamic resistance coefficient
06:50that was 2.42% better
06:53than the five nearest,
06:55and I quote,
06:56top of the range world tour competitors.
06:58Why don't you tell us which ones it is then
07:01that you compared it against?
07:02If it's that good,
07:03then why don't you tell us?
07:04And then, hopefully,
07:05we can go to a wind tunnel
07:06and either prove you right or wrong.
07:09So, as we don't have a wind tunnel handy,
07:11please do let us know
07:12if you believe Villier's claims
07:14down in the comments below.
07:16Maybe I'll make this a poll.
07:20Right, whatever news have we had?
07:22Oh yeah, Rafa and EF,
07:23they've had a divorce,
07:25and now it's...
07:26Well, Rafa's now in bed with Team USA.
07:29They're trying to target 10 golds at LA Olympics.
07:32It also posted a loss
07:33for its eighth year in a row,
07:35so no surprises there.
07:37Oh yeah, Specialized released the Athos.
07:40I know that's a few weeks ago,
07:41but let's discuss that
07:42because I've heard mixed reviews
07:44on local group rides
07:46whether the big S has gone in the right direction.
07:48Right, so firstly,
07:49what are we looking at?
07:50Well, very similar to the last one.
07:52Some integrated cabling,
07:54and more importantly,
07:55some slightly more relaxed geometry.
07:57Personally, I think that's a really sensible move.
07:59It's not a World Tour race bike,
08:01and so it seems sensible to create a bit more separation
08:05between this and the SL8.
08:07It also means that your average Joe rider
08:10can ride it around in a more comfortable position
08:12without having so many spaces under the stem,
08:15thanks to that taller head tube,
08:17which I think that's a good thing too.
08:19Now, we sent Cycling Weekly tech editor Andy
08:22off to the launch
08:23to see if it ticked all the right boxes,
08:25and he did come back very impressed
08:27with its 35mm tyre clearance
08:29and increased comfort.
08:31But we will be getting one in
08:32for a full review very soon,
08:34so make sure you're subscribed
08:35to the channel for that.
08:37So, what do you reckon?
08:39Is there still a place
08:40for nice riding lightweight bikes,
08:42or would you just go for the SL8
08:44and have some aero benefit as well?
08:47Let me know below.
08:48And we'll finish with...
08:50Well, this one's good actually.
08:51How would you like to save 81g off of your bike?
08:55If so, and you have some very deep pockets
08:57and ride Campagnolo,
08:59which I'm pretty sure no one does anymore,
09:02then good news.
09:03For just 1,114 euros,
09:06you can get more titanium,
09:08more carbon,
09:09and even more exclusivity.
09:11Yep, Campagnolo's launched a new ultra collection,
09:14including a carbon fiber chain ring,
09:16a new titanium cassette,
09:18and new hybrid ceramic bottom bracket.
09:20And yes, we have done the maths.
09:22It's about 14 euros per gram saved.
09:27Tidy.
09:27Let us know if that makes any sense to you
09:29in the comments below.
09:31Please like, hype, and subscribe
09:33until your heart's content.
09:34And we'll see you next time.
