The US Masters is, of course, one of golf's four major championships, but winning at Augusta
00:04
National carries with it a series of perks that go well beyond the famous green jacket.
00:10
In this video, we're going to highlight exactly what they are.
00:13
Let's start by talking money. The winner of the Masters pockets a cheque that's just
00:17
in excess of $2 million. Not bad for four days' work.
00:22
In addition to that, he also wins a sterling silver replica of the Masters trophy, which
00:26
depicts the Augusta National clubhouse and a gold medallion with a view of the clubhouse
00:31
from the front.
00:32
Now, of course, one of the most famous perks is the chance to not only attend the Champions
00:36
dinner each year, but also to choose the menu for that dinner the year after you win. This
00:41
truly is one of the most exclusive dinner invites in the world. The year after winning his first
00:47
Masters in 1997, Tiger Woods famously offered a menu of cheeseburgers, french fries, chicken
00:53
sandwiches and milkshakes.
00:55
Now, past champions also receive a special invite to compete in the tournament every
00:59
year after they win and an honorary membership at Augusta National.
01:04
So what about that famous green jacket? Well, the winner of the Masters gets to take the jacket
01:08
home with him and keep it for a year. But once that year is up, he has to return the jacket
01:14
to Augusta National and can only wear it when he's on golf club grounds.
01:18
The last thing to mention is the exemptions. The world of professional golf opens its arms to
01:23
a Masters winner, with five-year exemptions to the other majors as well as the PGA Tour.
01:29
So as you can see, there is a lot to be gained by winning the Masters.
01:32
Thanks for watching, we'll see you next time.
