00:00Nora was the ideal person to work with being a director and writer

00:04so we could work closely together

00:06I helped with the emotional truth and the reality of it

00:11and she brought all her knowledge about structure and filmmaking

00:16and just her keen intellect and curiosity and listening

00:20we did a lot of just talking about alcoholism and my life

00:25Rona is based on Amy Liptrott and her life

00:30we chose to change the character's name from Amy's

00:34because I mean Saoirse, Amy and I, all the three of us

00:38we needed some creative distance in order to be free

00:43when it comes to telling the story

00:45and then we had a zoom and you know we're discussing different names

00:49and Amy suggested Rona which is the name of a tiny island behind the horizon

00:54when you look out to the sea from the outrun

00:57and well Saoirse loved Rona and she said Ronan

01:01her last name means little seal

01:03so Rona is very related to that and it's an anagram to Nora also

01:07so you know we're like okay let's go for it

01:10and then we created this character where the three of us you know

01:14sort of blended in a way to create a woman that reflects on us

01:19but it immediately allowed us to be you know free
