00:00The Switch had arguably the strongest video game launch window of all time and came in hot,
00:04with not only the best Zelda, but also the best 3D Mario and Mario Kart game ever.
00:09On top of that, Nintendo was also able to secure a bunch of other great titles within the first year,
00:13like Splatoon 2 or Mario & Rabbids.
00:15So how does the Switch 2 launch year looks in comparison?
00:18Well, good and bad, in my opinion.
00:20To be honest, it's delusive to think Nintendo could have pulled off another insane launch with back-to-back winners,
00:25so in that regards, the launch was quite solid in comparison to some other consoles.
00:28Instead of Mario Kart 8, we got the solid Mario Kart World,
00:31which right now isn't as good as 8, but that one was also boosted by the Wii U content.
00:35For the platformer fans, Nintendo delivered with Donkey Kong Bonanza.
00:39While it is a bit weaker than Odyssey in most aspects,
00:41it is still an amazing game and probably even the strongest Donkey game ever.
00:45Now, to the actual problem and why Nintendo failed a bit with the Switch 2.
00:49There is simply not another top-tier title in the vein of Zelda Breath of the Wild anywhere to be seen.
00:53Metroid Prime 4 might have been Nintendo's trump card,
00:56but it's plagued with a horrible, empty overworld and disconnected levels without much soul to it.
01:00So the console misses out a bit at the top of the range.
01:03But on the other hand, the third-party support is a lot stronger than it ever was,
01:06and most big-budget games are also finding its way to the console.
01:09If the Switch launch was an S-tier, the Switch 2 is still getting a solid B.
