00:00Nobody is ever done with eating at an Indian wedding.

00:05Nobody would say I have already eaten.

00:08You are always in the present continuous tense.

00:11I am eating.

00:13Nothing else to do. What can you do in a wedding?

00:16There is no real joy, no real love.

00:18Not even on the stage where the couple is there.

00:20Even they don't really love each other.

00:22You have to fill yourself up with something.

00:25Love fills you up. Joy fills you up.

00:28A general euphoria fills you up.

00:31And if these things are absent,

00:33then you fill yourself up with naan and biryani and kofta and shahi tukla

00:40and all the jazz, the fancy names.

00:44Maybe it will bring me that happiness.

00:46It will bring me that happiness.

00:48See, it connects to the same thing.

00:50But at times, you may dress up because you are just glad.

00:58For no obvious reason.

00:59So I put on nice clothes.

01:07When putting on jewellery and nice clothes is a substitute for the real inner thing.

01:16therefore I am compensating by decking myself up with all the extravaganza.

01:24They would be done.

01:25But the eating was the only thing happening there.
