00:00In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:20As we continue this time of Christmas, we open our hearts to the great compassion, the mercy and the love of God.
00:28Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
00:35May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
00:43Let us pray, Almighty and invisible God, who dispersed the darkness of this world by the coming of your light.
00:53Look, we pray with serene countenance upon us, that we may acclaim with fitting praise the greatness of the nativity of your only begotten Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
01:14A reading from the first letter of Saint John.
01:17We can be sure that we know Jesus only by keeping his commandments.
01:23Anyone who says, I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, refusing to admit the truth.
01:32But when anyone, but when anyone does obey what he has said, God's love comes to perfection in him.
01:43We can be sure that we are in God only when the one who claims to be believing in him is living the same kind of life as Christ lived.
01:55My dear people, this is not a new commandment that I am writing to tell you, but an old commandment that you were given from the beginning, the original commandment, which was the message brought to you.
02:12Yet, in another way, when I am writing to you, and what is being carried out in your lives, as it is, is his.
02:23To be is a new commandment, because the night is over, and the real light is already shining.
02:32Anyone who claims to be in the light, but hates their brother or sister, is still in the dark.
02:41But anyone who loves their brother or sister, is living in the light, and need not be afraid of stumbling, unlike the one who hates their brother or sister, and is in the darkness, not knowing where they are going, because it is too dark to see.
03:04The word of the Lord, thanks be to God.
03:10Let heaven and earth exult in joy.
03:13Let heaven and earth exult in joy.
03:17O sing a new song to the Lord.
03:19O sing a new song to the Lord.
03:20Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
03:22O sing to the Lord, bless his name.
03:25Let heaven and earth exult in joy.
03:29Proclaim his health day by day.
03:32Tell among the nations his glory, and his wonders among all the peoples.
03:39Let heaven and earth exult in joy.
03:42It was the Lord who made the heavens.
03:45He is our majesty and state and power, and splendor in his holy place.
03:51Let heaven and earth exult in joy.
03:55Alleluia, alleluia.
03:57This is the light of revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel.
04:04Alleluia.
04:06The Lord be with you.
04:10A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
04:13Glory to you, O Lord.
04:15When the day came for them to be purified, as laid down by the law of Moses, the parents
04:23of Jesus took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.
04:28Observing what stands written in the law of the Lord.
04:32Every firstborn male must be consecrated to the Lord.
04:38And also to offering sacrifice in accordance with what is said in the law of the Lord.
04:45A pair of turtle doves or two young pigeons.
04:49Now in Jerusalem there was a man called Simeon.
04:53He was an upright and devout man.
04:56He looked forward to Israel's comforting, and the Holy Spirit rested on him.
05:02It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit he would not see death
05:08until he had set eyes on the Christ of the Lord.
05:12Prompted by the Spirit, he came to the temple,
05:16and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the law required,
05:22he took him into his arms and blessed God, and he said,
05:27Now, Master, you can let your servant go in peace, just as you promised,
05:33because my eyes have seen the salvation which you have prepared for all the nations to see,
05:40a light to enlighten the pagans and the glory of your people Israel.
05:47As the child's father and mother stood there wondering at the things that were being said about him,
05:52Simeon blessed them and said to marry his mother,
05:56We see this child is destined for the fall and for the rising of many in Israel,
06:02destined to be a sign that is rejected, and the sword will pierce your own soul too,
06:09so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare.
06:16The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
06:26St. John is very clear in the first reading,
06:32how when we don't love others, we are blocking our openness to the love of God.
06:41We are not free.
06:43Sometimes it's not easy to forgive.
06:47Sometimes it's not easy to let go of past hurts.
06:52And sometimes all we can do is say,
06:54Lord, I want to do the right thing, please help me.
06:57I'm struggling.
07:00There is a reminder to continue being open to change and to grow,
07:05not to be trapped in past mistakes,
07:09not to be trapped in what the others have done to us,
07:13but to be free.
07:15The greater example of this is Jesus himself.
07:19Father, forgive them on the cross.
07:23They don't realize the implications of what they are really doing.
07:26So we open ourselves to the grace of God,
07:32bigger than our fears and our doubts,
07:36bigger than our blocks and insecurities.
07:41God is love.
07:45And in God, there is no darkness.
07:50We struggle, of course, with darkness.
07:54But God's light is bigger than any darkness.
07:58And nothing can come between us and the love of God,
08:03made visible in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
08:08Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation.
08:15For to your goodness we have this bread to offer,
08:17which the Church has given human hands and made.
08:19It will become for us the bread of life.
08:22Blessed be God forever.
08:24Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation.
08:36For to your goodness we have this wine to offer,
08:39fruit of divine work of human hands.
08:54It will become a spiritual drink.
08:56Blessed be God forever.
08:58Let us pray, brothers and sisters,
09:10that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God,
09:13our Almighty Father.
09:15May the Lord accept the sacrifice in our hands
09:18for the praise and glory of God's name,
09:20for our good and the good of God's Holy Church.
09:24Receive our operation, O Lord,
09:26by which is brought about a glorious exchange,
09:29that by offering what you have given,
09:31we may to your grace merit to receive your very self.
09:35Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
09:38The Lord be with you.
09:41Lift up your hearts.
09:45Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
09:51It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
09:55always and everywhere to give you thanks,
09:58Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God.
10:01For in the mystery of the Word made flesh,
10:04a new light of your glory has shone upon the eyes of our mind.
10:07So that as we recognize in him God made visible,
10:12we may be caught up through him in love of things invisible.
10:16And so with angels and archangels,
10:19with thrones and dominions,
10:20and with all the hosts and powers of heaven,
10:23we sing the hymn of your glory,
10:25as with our tent we acclaim,
10:27Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts.
10:30Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
10:33Hosanna in the highest.
10:34Blessed is he who comes in the name of God,
10:36and who comes in the name of the Lord.
10:38Hosanna in the highest.
10:42You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
10:45Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
10:47by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,
10:51so they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
10:55At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
11:00he took bread, and giving thanks, broke it,
11:04and gave it to his disciples, saying,
11:06Take this, all of you, and eat of it,
11:08for this is my body which will be given up for you.
11:12In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice,
11:20and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying,
11:24Take this, all of you, and drink from it,
11:27for this is the chalice of my blood,
11:29the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
11:32which will be pulled out for you and for many,
11:35for the forgiveness of sins.
11:38Do this in memory of me.
11:46The mystery of faith.
11:48When we eat this bread and drink this cup,
11:51we proclaim your death, Lord Jesus, until you come again.
11:57Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
12:04we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
12:08giving thanks that you've held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
12:14Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
12:18we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
12:22Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world
12:25and bring her to the fullness of charity,
12:28together with Cleo, our Pope, mere unworthy servant, and all the clergy.
12:33Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
12:38and all who have died in your mercy.
12:41Welcome them into the light of your face.
12:44Have mercy on us all, we pray,
12:47that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
12:50Blessed Joseph, her spouse,
12:51with the blessed Apostles and all the saints
12:54who have pleased you throughout the ages,
12:56we may merit to be coerced with eternal life,
12:59and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
13:04Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father,
13:11in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
13:13all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. Amen.
13:17At the Saviour's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say,
13:24Our Father, who art in heaven,
13:27hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,
13:30thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
13:33Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,
13:37as we forgive those who trespass against us.
13:40And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
13:45Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
13:48Graciously grant peace in our days,
13:50that by the help of your mercy,
13:52we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress,
13:56as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
14:01For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
14:06Lord Jesus Christ, we said to your apostles,
14:09Peace I leave you, my peace I give you.
14:12Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church,
14:15and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will,
14:19who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
14:22The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
14:26Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
14:29Peace be with you all.
14:31Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
14:35Have mercy on us.
14:37Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
14:41Have mercy on us.
14:42Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
14:46Grant us peace.
14:59Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.
15:11Happy are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb.
15:14Lord, I am not worthy you should enter under my roof,
15:17but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
15:21My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
15:27I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
15:31Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
15:34come at least spiritually into my heart.
15:37I embrace you as if you were already there,
15:40and unite myself wholly to you.
15:43Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
15:47Let us pray.
15:52Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that by the power of these Holy Mysteries
15:57our life may be constantly sustained.
16:00Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
16:03The Lord be with you.
16:05And may the peace and the blessing of the Father and of the Son
16:08and of the Holy Spirit come upon you and remain always with you.
