00:00THE END
00:30Lady, to see you.
00:47This, um, this is yours.
00:52A friend gave it to me.
00:55Can we sit down?
00:57Forgive me.
01:00I need your help.
01:09Paul, my husband.
01:11There's a reward, you see?
01:14$2,000.
01:15The reward is for your husband.
01:19He's being hunted like an animal.
01:21Where and why?
01:23Blanton, Arizona.
01:24We live there.
01:26He's a clerk in the bank.
01:28He was a clerk in the bank.
01:32Sherry has a habit of making the words come more easily.
01:42The bank was robbed and a man killed.
01:45Paul was blamed.
01:48They're hunting for him.
01:49Well, it's impossible.
01:54Paul just isn't the kind to do such a thing.
01:57Oh, well, why was he blamed?
02:00If he isn't the kind.
02:02I don't know.
02:04Nobody will tell me anything.
02:06All I do know is that some of the most vicious men in Blanton are tracking him.
02:10They'll kill him without giving him a chance to explain.
02:13You want me to find your husband before the others do.
02:16You won't have to find him.
02:17I know where he is.
02:19There's a canyon we used to go to.
02:22I know it's silly, but we felt it was sacred to us.
02:25We never told anyone about it.
02:27Well, how do I find it?
02:29You follow the road north out of Blanton.
02:32Where it curves up into the hills, you'll find several water holes just off the side of the road.
02:37And beyond that, there's a split rock wall.
02:42That's the entrance to the canyon.
03:07That's a good place for you to stop.
03:19You've got a reason to be in these parts.
03:21Now, that's not a neighborly question.
03:23It's a question.
03:25Kind of a fair one.
03:27All right, Sheriff.
03:28This bandit that's on the loose.
03:30I'm looking for him.
03:32That's right.
03:33Civic-minded.
03:35$2,000-minded.
03:37A bounty hunter.
03:40Let's don't get in each other's way.
03:49You know, we could use him.
03:53Bounty hunters make awful good trackers.
04:05Hey, mister.
04:05You, uh, got a name?
04:12My name's Paladin.
04:14Well, Paladin, we could partner up.
04:16$2,000 split five ways?
04:18That doesn't leave much profit for a bounty hunter.
04:21Well, figure it this way.
04:22We've got five chances to find him.
04:25Well, you can figure it this way.
04:28We don't want strangers wandering around this area.
04:31Either you join us or clear out.
04:34Our camp's close by.
04:37You're welcome to noon with us.
04:38Well, now, he doesn't look like he'd know which end of the gun to point.
04:54He was expert enough to drill my deputy.
04:57Anybody see him do the killing?
04:58Just my deputy.
05:00Man, dead men ain't in habit of telling what happened to him.
05:02Not around here, anyway.
05:05You know something?
05:06For a bounty hunter, you're awful picky.
05:09Yeah, give me some of that.
05:11You know, you ask more questions than association detective.
05:15Well, I don't want a gun an innocent man.
05:18He ain't innocent.
05:20Gunfire pulled me out of my office.
05:22And a writer hightailing it away from the bank was Martin.
05:25I saw him.
05:27He dropped this.
05:28It's the gun the bank gave him to protect his cash box.
05:32It's the gun that killed my deputy.
05:35Well, that makes it easy.
05:37We're hunting an unarmed man.
05:39Well, now, what do you know?
05:41He hit the target the first time.
05:43I'll try and do it again.
05:46That knocks out the dead part of this poster.
05:48We don't have to kill him to bring him in.
05:56We don't have to kill him.
06:26We don't have to kill him.
06:27We don't have to kill him.
06:30Brex, that's a good example.
06:56Well, I'm flattered.
07:02He picked me.
07:05Imagine that.
07:06Out of all the people in the world, that one liked you.
07:08Yeah, you know, I thought that even a snake was particular who it'd hold up with.
07:12But I guess I was wrong.
07:14Well, I'm flattered.
07:15I'm flattered.
07:16I'm flattered.
07:17I'm flattered.
07:18I'm flattered.
07:19I'm flattered.
07:20I'm flattered.
07:21Paladin.
07:22Paladin.
07:23Pay him no mind.
07:24They've been in the woods too long.
07:26A snake bite in the right place can kill a man in two hours.
07:29Are you hinting that snake didn't just wander into your blankets?
07:33You'd call it a hint if you like.
07:35I prefer to call it a blunt statement.
07:37I can't go along with that.
07:39Well, go along with this, maybe.
07:41If Martin is innocent, then anybody could be guilty.
07:44Even one of those men over there.
07:46I saw him right out of there.
07:48It was his gun.
07:49You didn't actually see him kill that deputy, did you?
07:53Go along with me a little further, then.
07:55If the guilty man is here with us,
07:58he's got to see that Martin doesn't get back to town alive to tell what he knows.
08:03All right, but why try to kill you?
08:06Because I'm the one that's emphasizing that Martin should be taken alive.
08:10Our minds travel different trails, but...
08:13if that rattler didn't just wander into your blankets...
08:17we both better watch out for snakes.
08:20Sheriff?
08:24Sheriff, we've figured out how to get Martin.
08:27I'm a listener.
08:29Well, we've been trailing this boy for, uh, seven days now, right?
08:33That's a combination right there.
08:35Everybody's talking and riddled.
08:37Even a dude has to eat.
08:39Now, if he comes out during the day, we'd spot him, sure.
08:43He's got to be getting his food at night.
08:45That's when he comes out hiding.
08:47At night when we're sawing wood.
08:49There's plenty.
08:50They've got to be frivolous.
08:51We'll try touraise him.
08:52There was honorcule.
08:53There's nothing.
08:54Make sense.
08:55Look, uh, couldn't we put this off till tomorrow?
08:57All of this.
08:58Said look, no!
08:59Oh!
09:00Gibbo!
09:01Sheriff?
09:02You got something to tell them?
09:04Yeah, remember he's unarmed. There's no use to shoot him.
09:34There's no use to shoot him.
10:05Hold your fire!
10:22Did you do that shooting?
10:24Hadn't left my holster.
10:27Get him?
10:28To fire those shots. I didn't even see him.
10:30He got away.
10:32Oh, I already had my $400 spent.
10:36No use looking for him any more tonight.
10:38One thing for sure.
10:39He's hiding out as close by.
10:42Well, we'll nail him in the morning.
10:44You try to nail him tonight?
10:46You playing detective again.
11:02You want my gun, Paladin?
11:12Suit yourself.
11:19Break, did you fire those shots?
11:22I told you once.
11:23Maybe you told us wrong.
11:26And maybe you'll be dead soon.
11:28It's an easy way to make your point.
11:30It's an easy way to make your point.
11:43Well, somebody's a liar.
12:00It's an easy way to make your point.
12:05And beyond that, there's a split rock wall.
12:08That's the entrance to the canyon.
12:13Come on, get up.
12:14Let's go get some money.
12:15Let's go get up.
12:32Hey.
12:33Hey, Paladin's gone.
12:34Gone?
12:35I'll tell you something, we made a mistake letting him get away.
12:50Where you been?
12:51I've been out in the hills looking for the gun that tried to kill Martin.
12:54I figured maybe somebody had a spare.
12:57Why should one of us want to kill him?
13:00Well, any number of reasons. Personal reasons.
13:03Beckett, you set your mind to it, you'd be surprised the things you can think of.
13:07Yeah. Like, for instance, Brick might want to kill Martin.
13:11He's always out to kill somebody to revenge his brother's death.
13:15Oh, shut up.
13:16His brother was hanged. He was a rustler.
13:19You might say he had too many irons in the fire.
13:22Oh, shut up.
13:24Well, he is always looking to revenge his brother's death.
13:28Now, you just know that one of these days you're going to talk to yourself to death, don't you?
13:32And this might be the day.
13:34That's not exactly what I had in mind.
13:36I thought maybe one of us might have robbed that bank.
13:39And the only way to keep the loot would be to silence Martin for good.
13:44Oh, no, no. Nothing like that.
13:46No, let's get back to Jippo's idea. Revenge.
13:49You see, old Jippo, he fancies himself to be a prime dandy anyway.
13:53Why, he had Helen Martin all hog-tied and ready to go until Paul came along.
13:57Took her away from him. Isn't that right?
13:59Why, he's had it in for the two of them ever since the wedding.
14:02Shut up!
14:03Come on!
14:04You squabbing amongst ourselves don't solve nothing!
14:07No.
14:09That's still revenge.
14:12Now, is there anybody here who might just be interested in a profit?
14:17So it's between the three of us.
14:22Of course, you rule yourself out, so it's really between the sheriff and me, huh?
14:27Well, sheriff, you're always complaining about earning only $50 a month.
14:33Baby, you robbed that bank.
14:36$20,000 can be mighty tempting.
14:39Sheriff was with me when the shots were fired.
14:42Anybody else with anybody?
14:45Oh, come on, Beckett. Tell him why you robbed that bank.
14:49You get funnier every minute, Jippo.
14:52Beckett had a spread, see?
14:55Well, he owed some money.
14:57The bank wouldn't extend him alone, and he lost the spread.
15:00Beckett, I don't blame you for busting that bank.
15:03No, no.
15:04Now we're back to revenge, and we rule that out.
15:08Didn't we?
15:09Hmm?
15:10Look at him.
15:12Like a hound dog on a scent.
15:14Don't you see what he's doing?
15:16He's trying to get us on each other's necks, hoping we'll draw blood.
15:20And something almost burst loose, didn't it?
15:24I still favor Martin as the one.
15:27If we find him, we're out of the dark.
15:29I'll get you breakfast, and let's get him.
15:54The blood!
15:56The wind.
15:57All right, bounty hunter.
16:00You're the expert.
16:02You can follow the blood.
16:03Must have it pretty well bandaged.
16:04I don't see anything else.
16:07I'll try a bounty hunter. You're the expert.
16:10You can follow the blood.
16:12You must have it pretty well bandaged. I don't see anything else.
16:15Oh, I do. There. There's blood.
16:21There. There's the smear.
16:23Count it.
16:24Looks like that wound wasn't so well bandaged as you thought.
16:27Maybe Martin will get lucky. Bleed to death before we catch up with him.
16:37It must be hauled up in a cave somewhere in those rocks.
16:43Yeah. Spread out and keep your eyes open.
17:07Come on.
17:15Down here!
17:22He came this way.
17:27This blood's fresh.
17:29This means he flushed him out of his hole when he's in the open.
17:32You're right. Here's more.
17:37Come on.
17:54Easy, Paul.
17:55Easy. I'm a friend. Your wife sent me to find you.
17:57She said you were innocent.
18:01Helen, how is she?
18:02He's worried about you.
18:03You know, it's all the time we have for small talk.
18:05I want some straight answers. You robbed that bank?
18:08No.
18:09All right. Make it good.
18:11I was alone working that night, auditing the books.
18:14A masked man came in and made me open the safe.
18:17I took a chance and got a gun out of a drawer.
18:19He pulled it out of my hand.
18:21You know who he was?
18:25Jim Wilson. He's a deputy sheriff. He happened to come in.
18:28Bandit shot him dead with my gun.
18:30Then he made me get on my horse and ride.
18:33The sheriff came out of his office and started shooting after me.
18:36I was scared. I kept on going.
18:41But my horse ran out of wind. I had time to think.
18:45The deputy was killed with my gun and I had the combination to the safe.
18:48I didn't think anybody was going to believe me.
18:51So here I am.
18:54You take a chance with your life to save your life?
18:57Do I have a choice?
19:01No.
19:24What do we do now?
19:25Wait.
19:26You got him.
19:32Now we can get it the truth.
19:33He'll talk, Sheriff, but only in front of a judge.
19:35Just give me five minutes.
19:36Wait a minute.
19:37What's the objection of letting a judge hear it?
19:40None.
19:42Sheriff will watch the prisoner with me.
19:44Get all our horses and equipment back at the camp.
19:47That's a good idea.
19:48Break camp, bring up the horses.
19:50Now, get going.
19:57What's on your mind, Ballard?
19:59Well, Sheriff Paul will talk, but he can't tell much.
20:02Sheriff, you've known me for three years, ever since I came from the East.
20:04Do you think I could do this thing?
20:06I'd just do my duty.
20:08Well, your duty is to protect the innocent.
20:10That's my oath.
20:12Well, the guilty man will never let Paul reach town.
20:15That's what you say.
20:16Sheriff Breck or Beckett or Jippo, whichever one it is,
20:20will sneak back here and try and quiet Paul.
20:23Well, we don't know it was one of them.
20:25Well, it's worth a try.
20:28Paul, if you go back and sit down right at the base of that rock,
20:31and Sheriff, if you'll slake your thirst at the far pool,
20:34I'll try the boulders on the other side.
20:37All right, this is your party.
20:38But if there are no surprises, I'll take him in.
20:50There.
20:51Keep that head in your hand, just in case.
20:53Keep that head in your hand, just in case.
20:54You know, if I drink any more, I'll be waterlogged.
20:55I never thought I'd be so anxious for someone to shoot at me.
20:58If I drink any more, I'll be waterlogged.
21:02I never thought I'd be so anxious for someone to shoot at me.
21:07Well, if we had enough.
21:28Well, Sheriff, we don't have a problem anymore.
21:46No, we don't.
21:49But you have.
21:52You were all in on it?
21:56Who's gun were you lying about this morning?
21:59Beckett.
22:00I nearly died laughing when the sheriff smelled his gun and said nothing.
22:05Well, I guess now there's gonna be a shorter split on that $20,000 under the floorboards of the sheriff's jail.
22:13Look, are we gonna stand around here to listen to Jippo's bad jokes or we're gonna finish what we started out to do?
22:19All right, it's your kind of play. Get on with it.
22:22All right.
22:25All right.
22:26You're right.
22:27Go, Bob.
22:28Go!
22:29Go!
22:37Balladin!
22:38Balladin!
22:40It's me, the sheriff!
22:41I'm listening.
22:42I've got a deal for you.
22:44Go ahead.
22:46You send Martin out, you'll go free.
22:50How are you going to arrange that?
22:52Send him out, we'll take him with us.
22:54When we're gone, you can go.
22:56All we ask is, you keep on going.
23:00How far do you think I'd get with a bullet in my back?
23:02You've got to have food. We can wait here until the kingdom comes.
23:08He says no.
23:14Paladin.
23:16You're in no spot to act a hero now.
23:18No way to act a hero now.
23:20I'm not sure what you're doing.
23:22I'm not sure what you're doing.
23:24I'm not sure what you're doing.
23:26I'm not sure what you're doing.
23:28I'm not sure what you're doing.
23:30You're in no spot to act a hero now.
23:32It's the last chance.
23:34What do you say?
23:36I say the siege is over.
23:44Drop it!
24:00It's sure going to be a long ride to San Francisco in hell.
24:04Well, Pa, I guess this is the first time the man's ever brought back the posse.
24:14All right, Sheriff, lead out.
24:30A gun will travel reach the cart of a man.
24:40A knight without armor in a savage land.
24:46His vast gun for hire heats the calling wind.
24:52A soldier of fortune is the man called Paladin.
25:04Paladin, Paladin, where do you roam?
25:08Oh!
25:09Tell me, I mão.
25:12He's going to way better work.
25:14Hannibal!
25:16A głuch adaption to Almanya Macklin.
25:18Totally coveted.
25:20Quite.
25:21Yeah.
25:22And of course.
25:23What was he asking?
25:24I would have wasted his إن outlook for a million dollars.
25:27C Bild of China.
25:29Yeah.
25:30нос c Bild of China.
