00:00Me, Betty Spaghetti, who suits a one-of-a-kind mix-and-match, never-the-same-look-twice fashion now that has everybody talking.
00:07Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most unforgettable toys from the aughts.
00:14This is where my Beyblade battle begins.
00:18Number 20, iDog.
00:20Being a cool kid in the 2000s meant you had to have an MP3 player or an iPod to jam out to your favorite tunes.
00:27So when the iDog came out, allowing users to connect their music devices to the dog-shaped toy while it grooved to the beat, it was an instant hit.
00:36An iDog plays your tunes.
00:40He lights up to your touch and changes colors along with your music.
00:46The iDog combined the digital pet craze with the functionality of a speaker.
00:50It was not only eye-catching and useful, but also engaging for kids, thanks to the various emotions the robot pup could express.
00:59There are seven LEDs on the iDog's face which it uses to express emotion.
01:02If it's green, it's absolutely vibing.
01:04If it's orange, it's mildly content, and if it's red, it's friggin' angry.
01:07Booping its nose and petting it on the head makes the iDog happier, but it doesn't like when you touch its tail or ignore it for a long time.
01:13Over the years, several versions of the iDog came out, differing in color, look, and features.
01:19It also inspired alternate models like the iCat and iTurtle.
01:23They were so adorable, you just couldn't help but get attached.
01:26This product was a saving grace back when hiding your diary from snoopers felt like an impossible mission.
01:47My password journal could only be accessed by using a spoken code, and it came with a pen filled with invisible ink for an extra level of protection.
02:07You can use the light at the top as either a reading light or as a blacklight to show off whatever super secret invisible message you wrote.
02:15Can you imagine keeping an actual journal with invisible ink, like, full entries?
02:20I mean, this is a toy, so the invisible ink gives it extra, like, play value.
02:24After all, you could never be secretive enough, not when you're writing about your fifth grade crush or ranting about your sibling.
02:30If you lost your password, though, your treasure trove of memories would be doomed to oblivion.
02:35That's the fate most MPJs faced, for better or for worse.
02:40Pineapple pizza.
02:42Pineapple pizza.
02:43D-9.
02:44And it gives me ideas.
02:46Write about something exciting.
02:48It even has a secret pen and a hidden drawer.
02:50My password journal, because my secrets are mine.
02:53Number 18, Groovy Girls.
02:55If you couldn't relate to Barbies or Bratz dolls, these were probably your favorite toy.
03:00Picked out my clothes and I put on my shoes.
03:03Hanging out with my friends.
03:08There's a key chance.
03:10The Groovy Girls dolls aimed for diversity and were perfect for fashion-loving kids.
03:15Some came with pets and even furniture, giving the dolls some personality.
03:19An assortment of soft toys that encourage self-identity and friendship.
03:23Each individual item is crafted with vibrant colors and embroidered features.
03:27Bring joy to everyday play with Groovy Girls dolls and accessories.
03:32Special lines, such as Dreamtastic, Candy Kingdom, Flutterflies, and Troop Groovy Girls were hugely popular too.
03:40Several books featuring some of the main Groovy Girls characters were released as well and received a warm response.
03:46Unfortunately, they haven't been produced since 2019, but that only makes them more valuable now.
03:52We have so many new Groovies as well.
03:54We have four different main dolls and we've got a couple of special edition dolls as well with removable wings on them.
03:59I love that.
04:00Number 17, Seen It.
04:02If you were a kid hosting a party in the 2000s and you pulled up to the living room with one of these,
04:07you knew the event was going to be lit.
04:09The disc even has OpTribe technology.
04:11Basically, this means that the disc will reshuffle the questions every time you start it up so that you can have a unique Seen It experience every time.
04:19Seen It was a trivia game that involved answering entertainment and pop culture related questions.
04:25You could even watch movie clips while you were playing.
04:27In a pre-TikTok era, this feature earned the game major novelty points.
04:31These vary from basic things like asking the color of a character's shirt to stupid ones like asking the name of an actor who's not even in the clip.
04:38Moreover, you could get Seen It games specifically based on certain movies or franchises, like Harry Potter or Disney.
04:45This was perfect for super fans.
04:47Although once all the questions were answered, there wasn't much appeal left.
04:51Still, Seen It used to be all the rage.
04:54Buckle your seatbelts because we're about to take off to a hilarious new world.
04:58With laugh-out-loud movie clips, hysterical puzzles, and entertaining mini-games,
05:06Seen It comedy movies has everything to make your next game night a side-splitting success.
05:12Number 16, My Scene.
05:14These toys were a Barbie spin-off created as a direct response to Bratz dolls.
05:19That's why they have exaggerated features, glamorous outfits, and heavy makeup on.
05:34Male versions of the doll were available too, much like the Bratz boys.
05:38The undeniable similarity between the two toy lines led to a heated legal battle.
05:43Here's a little does-the-fit-fit on a classic Barbie.
05:47I had no problems with the top or the skirt.
05:50And the coat is an easy fit as well.
05:53At one point, MGA Entertainment had to temporarily stop making Bratz
05:57because the creator of the toy, Carter Bryant, was an ex-Mattel employee.
06:02Ultimately, Mattel halted the production of My Scenes,
06:04but brought back collector versions of the dolls in 2024.
06:08Business trouble aside,
06:09these toys were popular enough for Mattel to create whole movies,
06:13web series, and games about them.
06:15Safe to say, they brought the company plenty of profits.
06:18While I like some of the details we're getting with the clothes,
06:22like belt loops, different fabrics, trim, and pockets,
06:26at $40 each, I would have liked more articulation.
06:30Number 15, Cube World.
06:32This had to be one of the most creative toys from the 2000s.
06:35The concept of animated stick figures in cubes that can interact with their kind
06:40when connected to other cubes was not only novel, but also brilliant.
06:44Welcome to Cube World.
06:48Where stick people stick together.
06:51You couldn't help but get addicted to collecting more and more cubes
06:55to give your figure some friends.
06:57Once you had a good number of cubes connected to each other,
06:59the characters' interactions would get more and more interesting.
07:02Each cube comes with a stick figure who has their own thing.
07:06Dodger has a ball and Whip has some sort of string.
07:10A lot of Cube World is just observing what the stick figures do.
07:13Each character apparently has over 100 stick animations.
07:17You could influence their actions too by simply tilting the cube,
07:21making them tumble and fall.
07:22In addition, each cube came with mini games to keep kids entertained for hours.
07:27They just don't make toys like these anymore.
07:29Cool new cubular characters for you to collect.
07:32If you two can't get along, I'm gonna have to separate you.
07:37There.
07:38Cube World, it's no place for squares.
07:41Number 14, Pixel Chicks.
07:43This handheld video game revolved around controlling the character of a pixelated girl.
07:48You can head with Pixel Chicks and have a pixel day.
07:51Anything can happen, no tell her what she'll say.
07:54Go out in this?
07:55Her manners are perfect.
07:56Her clothes are really hot.
07:58Fabulous.
07:58Play through every level.
07:59And look at all she's got.
08:01Much like The Sims, you'd be responsible for your character's daily life and leveling up
08:06her skills.
08:07The devices came in the shape of pretty little doll houses, and like Cube World, they could
08:11be connected with other houses to make the characters visit each other.
08:15On both the left and right side of the house, there are connectivity inserts to interconnect
08:18multiple Pixel Chicks toys.
08:20Once connected, Pixel Chicks could go over to each other's houses and hang out in junk.
08:24What are they talking about?
08:26The best part, however, was our gal pal's arsenal of sassy quips.
08:30She'd throw at us at every turn.
08:32The physical game went out of production in 2009, but Pixel Chicks still lives rent-free
08:36in our heads.
08:37I'll dress her up in some cute outfit, and she'll be like,
08:40Look at me!
08:41Look at me!
08:42But the second I ask her to leave the house...
08:45No way.
08:45What do you want from me?
08:47Overall, there are five different levels you can reach, but if you ignore your Pixel Chick
08:50for too long, she'll get angry and walk out on you.
08:53Number 13.
08:54Tamagotchi.
08:55When it comes to digital pets, few can rival the popularity of these Japanese toys.
09:00It's my life.
09:01My best friend.
09:02My lover, say the girls.
09:04The object of their affections is the Tamagotchi, a virtual pet.
09:09The goal was simple.
09:10Keep your virtual pet alive by interacting with it and caring for it, which taught children
09:15responsibility.
09:16Who would have thought it would captivate people of all ages?
09:19The Tamagotchi fad started in the late 90s, and we don't think it ever stopped.
09:23First, a chick hatches from an egg.
09:26Then you can feed it either rice or cookies.
09:31When you clear up its droppings, it squeaks with delight.
09:34But if you don't press the right buttons, it dies of neglect.
09:39Sure, they peaked in the 2000s, but they never truly went out of style as millions continued
09:44to be sold.
09:45The toy was even inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame.
09:48With the recent Y2K aesthetic trend, they re-emerged as must-have accessories.
09:53We'd go as far to say that Tamagotchis walked so the boo-boos could run.
09:57Don't you agree?
09:58You said that I could trust you.
10:00First the Tamagotchis, now this.
10:02Number 12.
10:03Polly Pocket.
10:04Adorable little wholesome dolls and a colorful assortment of playsets.
10:08What's not to love?
10:09Three wacky, wonderful floors.
10:12Decorate.
10:13Redecorate.
10:14It all sticks.
10:15Turn upside, downside up.
10:17Elevator one.
10:18Elevator two.
10:19There becomes a pool.
10:20Cool.
10:20Polly Pocket dolls dominated the 2000s toy scene.
10:23They were slightly bigger than their original 90s counterparts, and more customizable too.
10:28Like other fashion dolls, they came in a variety of outfits.
10:31Instead of being made of cloth, a special rubbery poly stretch fabric was used to make switching
10:36clothes easier.
10:38These dresses right here.
10:39These two dresses right here.
10:41Obsessed with this one.
10:42These two dresses right here.
10:44Both of these are so cute.
10:46Guys, there's some mermaid tail.
10:48Polly Pocket themed content was quite popular too, such as the movie Polly World and the TV
10:53show Polly Pocket.
10:54Although these playsets were discontinued in 2012, their value grew, and the dolls were
10:59relaunched in 2018.
11:01The ringmaster didn't come up to me and ask me to perform.
11:05Maybe you're right.
11:06It's supposed to be fun.
11:08Number 11.
11:09Littlest Pet Shop.
11:10The popularity of these toys grew hand in hand with the success of the media franchise
11:14it spawned.
11:15The first generation of Littlest Pet Shop figures was created by Kenner in the 90s.
11:29During this time, we got iconic lines like Splashtime Pets and Sparkling Pets.
11:34Then Hasbro took over and made Generation 2 even more lucrative.
11:38Wow, there's a lot of pets.
11:40This is the Traveler's Adventure set.
11:42And look, it comes with cards and codes.
11:44You can discover new ways to play with your pets on Littlest Pet Shop Experience on Roblox.
11:49Generations 3 to 6 switched up the style, and despite being met with initial backlash,
11:55proved to be successful nonetheless.
11:57Finally, in 2024, Basic Funds brought back some of the signature designs from the early
12:02generations.
12:03Through all these changes, people's love for Littlest Pet Shop toys has remained unwavering,
12:08and it's not going to change anytime soon.
12:10Yep.
12:11All in all, my life is pretty great.
12:13I wouldn't change a thing.
12:15Number 10, Webkinz.
12:16If Beanie Babies were the hottest stuffed animal trend of the 90s, then Webkinz were their natural
12:22successor.
12:22What's the coolest thing about Webkinz?
12:25So many pets to choose from.
12:27Contest!
12:28Decorating my pet's room.
12:29The secret code that unlocks Webkinz World.
12:32A cuddly creature for the technological age, Webkinz weren't just simple stuffed animals like
12:37your parents played with.
12:38Each one came with a secret code that gave kids the ability to actually play with their
12:42pet online, as well as in real life.
12:45Meeting friends at the clubhouse.
12:47Who's there?
12:48All the time!
12:49The coolest thing is everything!
12:53Webkinz were kind of the best of both worlds, like having your Tamagotchi or Neopet come to
12:57life.
12:58Not to mention, they were ridiculously adorable.
13:01Coolest thing is everything Webkinz!
13:04Number 9.
13:05Diva Stars.
13:06This series of dolls may have been short-lived, but that doesn't mean we'll forget them anytime
13:11soon.
13:12Fashion Diva!
13:14Fashion Diva!
13:16Dolls never go out of style, but marketers are always looking for new ways to convince
13:20kids that theirs is the coolest.
13:22Diva Stars featured the large heads and smaller bodies that eventually became the norm for the
13:27decade, but also had the ability to talk.
13:29Put on my outfit!
13:30When McDonald's introduced the Mighty Kids meal in 2001, Diva Stars was actually one of
13:36the first lines of toys that accompanied the meal.
13:38You're gonna get a really cool toy.
13:40Glamour, listen!
13:41Number 8.
13:42Silly Bands.
13:43This was one of those trends that somehow transcended age and gender in order to reach peak popularity.
13:49Kids collect them, they wear them, they trade them, they use them as a fashion accessory.
13:54More so now it's becoming kind of a currency for parents and coaches around the country and
13:58the world.
14:01The original concept was created in Japan in 2002, but Silly Bands didn't actually make
14:04their way to the U.S. until many years later.
14:07And now it's really breaking into the fashion industry too for 20s, 30s, and 40s women.
14:14A lot of that we owe to Sarah Jessica Parker of talking about the product.
14:17It was only in 2009 that this trend really took off, proving that sometimes it's the simplest
14:22things that can really make people crazy.
14:25These stretchy and colorful elastic bands came in a variety of shapes, spurring on a
14:30deep-seated desire to collect as many as you could.
14:33You know a toy has really taken off when schools start to ban them, and that's exactly what
14:37happened with Silly Bands.
14:39It's such an innocuous, innocent product that it really becomes more the teachers and the
14:43parents of educating them.
14:45Number 7.
14:46AquaPet.
14:47Many companies tried to profit off of the digital pet trend started in the 90s, because there
14:52were always going to be parents out there who were not going to give in to their kids'
14:56wishes for a puppy.
14:57AquaPets, they're so adorable.
15:01AquaPets, so cute, so fun.
15:03One iteration of this that stood out from the rest was the AquaPet.
15:07AquaPet.
15:09These cute creatures were suspended in water and used technology to recognize voices and
15:14alter their behavior based on the sounds around them.
15:17The AquaPets could sing and dance, and would escalate their enthusiasm when you played
15:22with them more.
15:22Say hello to your new best friend.
15:24Dance.
15:25Your AquaPet actually hears you and responds.
15:27And they respond to each other, too.
15:30Number 6.
15:31Robo Sapien.
15:32Many of the toys that achieved great popularity in the early 2000s were based on new technology,
15:38and this one was no exception.
15:40Having your own personal robot is not science fiction.
15:42Robo Sapien was a humanoid robot that featured a surprising amount of abilities, some of which
15:48were pre-programmed, and some of which the user could control.
15:52Robo Sapien is here now.
15:53Robo Sapien is the first humanoid robot with 67 functions and 4 programming modes, ready
15:58to carry out your every command.
16:00In fact, there are a total of 67 commands that it can be given, and unlike many of the
16:06entries on this list, Robo Sapien has actually experienced some longevity, with the company
16:11continuing to produce updated versions of the toy even today.
16:15Robo Sapien is the future, and the future is now.
16:18Number 5.
16:19Poochie.
16:20There have been a whole lot of robotic pets produced since the technology became available,
16:25but the most memorable for kids of the early 2000s was undoubtedly Poochie.
16:29Hey!
16:30I morphed the munt!
16:32You what?
16:33New Poochie.
16:34Reacts to pets, sounds, and life.
16:37The toy was initially released in 2000, and despite its spike in popularity, was discontinued
16:43only two years later.
16:45There were a number of spin-offs, though, ranging from robotic cats to dinosaurs.
16:49These electronic puppies were programmed to sing a number of songs, and their eyes lit
16:54up to a sometimes alarming effect.
17:02They may not exactly have been realistic, but when you couldn't get a real dog, it was
17:06the next best thing.
17:07Just begging for his bone!
17:10And listen to him sing to each other!
17:14Number 4.
17:15Betty Spaghetti.
17:16Have you heard about Betty?
17:17Betty Spaghetti!
17:17This is one example of a toy that was actually released before the year 2000, but still saw
17:22the majority of its popularity later.
17:25Betty Spaghetti was initially launched in 1998 as a doll with removable parts and interchangeable
17:30outfits.
17:31Her rubbery hair let you try out different hairstyles without making a permanent commitment.
17:36Have you heard about Allie?
17:37Betty Spaghetti's little sister?
17:39She had two girlfriends and a sister, so you could collect the whole gang.
17:42In 2016, it was announced that Betty Spaghetti would be making a comeback for a whole new
17:47generation of doll lovers.
17:49Can you see her style?
17:50Outrageous style!
17:51Have you met her friends?
17:52Way cool friends!
17:53Have you heard about Betty?
17:54Betty Spaghetti!
17:56Number 3.
17:57Bionicle.
17:58Lego is great and all, but if you wanted something more involved, Bionicle was the perfect solution.
18:03Six legendary heroes have arrived.
18:05These mighty tour must discover the masts of power, defeat evil, and free the island.
18:10With a target audience a few years older than the typical Lego user, this line of construction
18:16toys helped to revive the brand's image at a time when it was in a slump.
18:20Unlike many other offerings from the Lego group, Bionicle actually had a complex and deep backstory
18:25to enhance the playing experience.
18:28Together, they must face off against evil forces in a must-win battle for victory.
18:33Situated in a sci-fi world, these cyborg toys had their own lore that contributed to the
18:38longevity of their popularity.
18:40Six heroes, one destiny.
18:43Live the legend.
18:45Number 2.
18:45Beyblade.
18:46Three, two, one.
18:50Let it rip.
18:51This nostalgic toy doesn't seem like it's going away anytime soon.
18:55Though it was initially released in 2000, the Beyblade franchise has morphed and expanded
19:00over the years into a multimedia franchise.
19:02Gonna rip it up, now the bed is down.
19:05With a team, with a bang.
19:07Our gang's the one that's gonna win.
19:10Let's play play.
19:11The tops were originally cross-promoted with a Japanese manga, and you probably wouldn't
19:17have thought they could possibly take off in the toy world.
19:20But while these modern, spinning tops started off as a simple game, they eventually developed
19:24into a series of TV shows, while the game itself expanded to become far more complex.
19:29Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel, and ring the bell to get notified
19:48about our latest videos.
19:50You'll have the option to be notified for occasional videos, or all of them.
19:54If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
20:00Number 1.
20:01Bratz.
20:01Every generation needs a doll to be emblematic of the decade.
20:05And for kids coming of age in the early 2000s, that was Bratz.
20:18Their heads are big, and their bodies are small, causing potentially even more body image
20:24confusion than Barbie.
20:25But despite the many controversies surrounding the dolls and their production, they were a
20:29resounding success.
20:33The franchise has gone through its peaks and lulls in the years since it was first introduced,
20:37but even today, Bratz dolls are still on the market.
20:41Love them or hate them?
20:42You can't deny their icon status.
20:44Move over, queen.
20:45We're on the throne.
20:46Kick it back.
20:47Just like home.
20:49That's the inside.
20:50All right.
20:50Change them for the raking ball tonight.
20:53Which of these toys do you think are truly timeless?
20:56Tell us in the comments.
20:57It's my scene.
20:59Looking good with your friends.
21:01From the disco and the trend.
21:03You control all the moves.
21:05Give it a whirl.
