00:14Tedros said the adoption of the WHO pandemic agreement
00:18was the year's biggest achievement,
00:21calling it a powerful example of multilateral cooperation.
00:25He added that 13 countries were validated for eliminating diseases
00:31while the WHO also issued guidance on medical innovations,
00:36including Lena Kapavir for HIV prevention and GLP-1 treatments for obesity.
00:41The agency also responded to 48 emergencies across 79 countries and territories,
00:47including Gaza, Sudan and Ukraine.
00:50However, Tedros warned that eight cuts could undo decades of progress,
00:54with early estimates suggesting child mortality could rise for the first time this century.
01:00Tedros said budget reductions have also forced the WHO to cut its workforce
01:04but insisted that the agency remain relevant to global health.
