Le sélectionneur du Mali, Tom Saintfiet, s’est montré très critique face au projet de faire passer la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations d’un rythme biennal à une organisation tous les quatre ans. Il pointe du doigt l’influence de la FIFA, de l’UEFA et des grands clubs européens, estimant que cette décision manque de respect envers le football africain et son histoire.

00:48but it's all instructed by the big people in UEFA

00:54the big clubs from the five leagues in Europe and also by FIFA.

01:00And that makes it so sad.

01:02Africa is the biggest football continent in the world.

01:06The passion of football, the quality of the players,

01:08the history of all African players,

01:11all the big stars in Europe are Africans.

01:16So I think we misrespect by going to four years.

01:22I'm very sad about that.
