00:00I'm in Morocco, as yesterday, match day one of AFCON 2025 came to a close,

00:15with all 24 teams having played their opening game.

00:19Four matches were on the schedule across groups E and F.

00:22In a dramatic Group E opener, a goalless first half gave way to late twists and turns.

00:33Equatorial Guinea briefly led before Burkina Faso struck twice in stoppage time

00:39through Giorgi Minongo and Edmund Tapsoba to seal a remarkable 2-1 comeback.

00:46With the stands packed and more than 16,000 spectators in attendance,

00:53the vast majority of passionate Algerian supporters,

00:57Riyad Meher scored twice as the FNEX opened their campaign

01:01with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sudan.

01:06It's a good game, good start for us,

01:11and inshallah we're going to win many games.

01:15It was a bit tough, obviously giving a red card at the start doesn't help,

01:20and of course with the quality that Algeria has,

01:23it makes the game really tough of course,

01:25but I think we got a bit unlucky with the chances that we had.

01:29Burkina Faso's dramatic late win,

01:32combined with Algeria's comfortable victory,

01:35has now set up an intriguing clash between the two sides on Sunday.

01:39Attention turn to Group F with two more matches across Morocco.

01:45In Marrakesh, the Red City, holders Coup d'Ivoire faced Mozambique.

01:50Coup d'Ivoire struggled to break down a resilient Mozambican defense,

01:55but their patience paid off shortly after the restart,

01:59when Ahmed Diallo scored the only goal to secure a narrow 1-0 victory.

02:06Cameroon struck early through Etta Young,

02:09and then had to defend strongly as Gabon pushed for an equalizer.

02:14Despite several chances, the Panthers were unable to break through,

02:20and Cameroon held on for a narrow 1-0 win.

02:23And beyond the matches, the festivities continued.

02:27Across stadiums and fan zones,

02:30Moroccan music and festive rhythms filled the air with supporters,

02:34dancing well into the celebrations,

02:36turning AFCON 2025 into a true football festival.
