00:00Hi everyone, so at the very beginning, Adam actually joined our Deaf Gatherings for several
00:15times. So I see him came for several times, I don't know what's going on, but later on
00:20he enrolled in my sign language class and then he invited me to be the sign coach of this movie. He
00:26asked if I were interested or not, and I think it's a good challenge and I happily
00:31accepted it. And I also worked with Kim, a sign language coach for this movie. So for
00:39the whole journey, at the very beginning, this script was actually
00:45written in Chinese or Cantonese and we translated them into Hong Kong sign
00:49language and then we practiced and trained the actors in sign language and
00:56also make sure that the facial expressions, the role shift, body movements are all there.
01:00And we also acted as the Deaf Culture Consultant because I grew up as a Deaf
01:06person in the Deaf community and I know best about Deaf culture, so we gave in our
01:11input, our insights and our perspective. And in the actual shooting, we were in the
01:19set every time. It's like crazy schedules, overnight schedules. We check the monitor and
01:26then when the sign language is not good, we're ng and then we have to retake that.
01:31So after he caught cut, we would have to look at the playback to double check whether the sign language is okay,
01:41are okay, whether the signs are within the frame instead of getting out of the frame,
01:46whether they are very detailed mistakes in the facial expressions. So we want to make sure the things are perfect.
01:54And in the post-production stage, we check the subtitles, we double check the signs again, whether the facial expressions are all here.
02:06And we gave suggestions and he had to change accordingly if the signs were not okay.
02:12It was really hard, but it was also a great pleasure working as part of the team.
02:16It's our first time involved in the film production process and it was very fun, it was very happy.
02:24I enjoyed working with Adam a lot and I felt that he respects Deaf people a lot.
02:31Our feedback, our suggestions, he almost accepted all of them,
02:36and I think it's a great pleasure working with him.
