00:00The core of this narrative to me is about identity in whichever community, and I wondered

00:14how you began your journey with the deaf community, and what you knew at the beginning, and how

00:22they matched. So it dates back to five years ago. At that time, my scriptwriter friend, she

00:32had a short script, a script for a short film about deaf people, and she just asked me for

00:40some comment, and I found that there is some scene about deaf people signing underwater.

00:46I found it quite amazing. But it was not until the moment she told me the idea of deaf identity.

00:54I was shocked to learn that actually there are some deaf people, they would never consider

01:01the possibility of like if one day there is a technology that can make them hearing right

01:08away, they would never care about it. That was such a shock to me. And from that moment

01:14I decided to make a film on this topic. And then I just teamed up with my scriptwriter and producers,

01:24and we do a very intensive research. We read lots of books, many editorials on deaf people,

01:36and we visit them. Some of them are my deaf friends, and we also contact some association serving

01:46for the deaf people in Hong Kong, university that teach the sign language and the bilingual program.

01:52Yeah. And I learned sign language myself, yeah, from C-Bird. Yeah. It was such a really amazing, yeah,

02:01maybe I should particularly mention the experience that I learned sign language. Yeah.
