00:00This fucking beat is gonna show you, gonna show you what your hips are made for
00:05Welcome to Miz Mojo and today we're counting down our picks for the most sought-after hidden gem singles and albums to be printed on vinyl
00:14It's just the wasted years so close behind
00:21Number 10. Monster Movie, Cannes
00:27The debut album of Krautrock Pioneers, Cannes was undoubtedly too experimental for mainstream distribution
00:34But the upstart label Music Factory took a chance on Monster Movie, pressing 500 records to spark interest from a bigger company
00:48The intriguing tagline, Made in a Castle with Better Equipment, must have helped
00:53The album was re-released by Liberty Records to high praise for the band's avant-garde groove and scope
00:59Monster Movie can now be heard in many formats
01:07But serious enthusiasts are tempted by Music Factory's privately distributed initial press
01:14One of the few copies floating around can cost thousands
01:21There are obviously cheaper ways to enjoy this piece of German music history
01:28But some feel that being part of it is worth the money
01:32Number 9. Let's Shake Hands and Lafayette Blues, The White Stripes
01:36True to their modern twist on old-school blues and punk, The White Stripes released their first two singles on vinyl
01:43Let's Shake Hands and Lafayette Blues were both recorded in the married duo's living room
01:55Then released by Italy Records with 1,000 copies each, the former's press on red vinyl and the latter's on white
02:02Played into the band's initial peppermint aesthetic
02:05But the songs only appeared on the Japanese edition of their namesake debut album the following year
02:11And only Let's Shake Hands appears on the White Stripes' sole compilation album
02:21The single's original pressings have become valuable collectibles, selling for hundreds individually
02:27What blues does the person who can afford that have to sing about?
02:30Number 8. Would You Believe? Billy Nichols
02:40At just 19 years old, Billy Nichols achieved stardom among psychedelia fans
02:45With his debut masterpiece, Would You Believe?
02:48Unfortunately, it took years to expand that cult following
02:58As Immediate Records only printed 100 copies for a promotional release
03:02It wasn't until 1998 when Nichols remastered and widely distributed the album through his personal label, Southwest
03:10Life is sure that you won't even talk to me
03:16Girl, I know it
03:18Immediate's scarce first pressing of Would You Believe? are still out there
03:22And can cost upward of $4,000
03:25The kicker is that the label eventually re-released the vinyl, which is available on streaming
03:30Along with the remastered version
03:32But would you believe that there are still collectors who want to get their hands on a first edition?
03:44Number 7. Banana Sticker Debut Album
03:47The Velvet Underground and Niko
03:49Eccentric artist Andy Warhol did dominate much of the production of the Velvet Underground's debut album
03:56Down to recruiting his muse Niko on vocals
03:59Please put down your hands
04:02Cause I see you
04:06He even prominently displayed his signature on a print of a banana that adorned the cover on a sticker
04:12When peeled off, it cleverly revealed a peeled banana
04:15The delayed release and subversive nature of the album made it a tough sell
04:19Thankfully, the acclaim was enough for the Velvet Underground to blast into the mainstream on one of the most important rock albums of its time
04:35This added to the value of its failed first run, which can now sell for thousands
04:41Ironically, that value drops when you dare to look at Warhol's unique hidden art
04:55Number 6. God Save The Queen A&M Edition
04:59Sex Pistols
05:00The British music industry wasn't exactly thrilled by the Sex Pistols anthem for Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee
05:14The American label A&M didn't seem to mind God Save The Queen
05:21Nonetheless, the single was met with such intense backlash that most of the 25,000 records were destroyed
05:30Virgin Records picked up where A&M left off and God Save The Queen was reappraised as a staple of British punk
05:37Now collectors are willing to drop a fortune on one of the few surviving copies of the A&M edition
05:43In 2024, one was auctioned off for over £24,000
05:55All we want to know about this anonymous bidder is if they knew about the song's comments about wealth
06:06Number 5. The Black Album Prince
06:09Imagine Warner Bros.'s scepticism when The Mighty Prince proposed an album that would be printed in a black sleeve with no title or even credits
06:18Even more shocking was when he personally cancelled the commercial release the week prior
06:23A devout Jehovah's Witness, Prince believed that his sexually charged art conjured an evil he didn't want to unleash on the world
06:38Some of those who obtained a limited promotional vinyl were inclined to believe him with Funk This Eerie
06:44Warner Bros. finally released the so-called Black Album seven years later
06:54But the promotional LP is still out there
06:56There does seem to be something sinister about paying up to $27,000 for a copy
07:02Number 4. Caustic Window
07:11Caustic Window
07:12Apex Twin is only the most recognizable of the many stage names used by EDM icon Richard David James
07:19Caustic Window
07:26Caustic Window was gaining some traction with a series of EPs and singles when the project was expected to culminate in a full album in 1996
07:34Unfortunately, the release was ultimately cancelled for unclear reasons following a 1994 test press
07:40Two decades later one of the records was purchased on Discogs for $13,500
07:47Then remastered for digital distribution through reflex records and a Kickstarter campaign
07:53Stop making that big face
07:56Now James's fans can easily enjoy Caustic Window's Lost LP
08:00Good luck scoring the original vinyl when Minecraft creator Marcus Persson bought it on eBay for over $46,000
08:08Number 3. My Happiness
08:10That's Where Your Heartaches Begin
08:12Elvis Presley
08:13In the summer of 1953, some talented teen coughed up $4 to record an acetate single at the Memphis Recording Service
08:21I don't know what it is you see in this point
08:24Elvis Presley went on to become one of the biggest musicians of all time
08:28He did several more covers of That's When Your Heartaches Begin
08:32The B-side of the demo that started it all
08:35That's When Your Heartaches Begin
08:45But he never revisited the A-side, a rendition of My Happiness
08:49My Happiness
08:54The record lay dormant at Graceland until it was auctioned off in 2015 for $300,000
09:00The anonymous buyer was revealed to be rockstar Jack White
09:04When his label Third Man Records issued a single of the King's first recording
09:08There's two things you need to know
09:10I'm the King
09:11And number 2 is
09:12Look out man, look at that, they're coming at you, you see that?
09:14It's called karate man, and only two kinds of people know it
09:17He paid a pretty penny to keep the original all to himself
09:21Number 2. Do I Love You? Indeed I Do
09:24Not just an esteemed songwriter and producer
09:34Frank Wilson began his career at Motown as a performer
09:37He ultimately decided to work behind the scenes after recording Do I Love You? Indeed I Do
09:43For a demo single
09:44Too early morning, too late at night
09:46To fill my heart with puny like
09:48Do I Love You?
09:50The label's head, Barry Gordy, had all but about five of the 250 records destroyed
09:57In the UK, one copy was bought in 1997 for £15,000
10:02And another was auctioned off in 2009 for over £25,000
10:06$200,000
10:08$210,000
10:10$220,000
10:11$220,000
10:12$230,000
10:14Thank you
10:15Luckily for soul fans, Wilson's Do I Love You? is readily available on compilation albums
10:20It also enjoyed a mainstream resurgence through a 2022 cover by Bruce Springsteen
10:33Still, the original demo remains a legend within the genre

10:52Number 1
10:53That'll be the day
10:54In spite of all the danger
10:56The Quarrymen
10:57There's a good chance that the Quarrymen would have faded into history if they didn't evolve into the Beatles
11:02I'm John
11:04Paul
11:06Want a beer?
11:07I'd love a tea
11:09Is there any tea left, Bees?
11:11There's no tea left, John
11:12As it is, their most obscure recording is one of the most valuable singles ever
11:17The A-side features a cover of Buddy Holly's That'll Be The Day
11:19Say you gonna leave
11:21You know to lie
11:23Cause that'll be the day
11:25When I die
11:27The B-side, In spite of all the danger
11:29Was the first ever recording of a song written by Paul McCartney
11:33These tracks have since been widely released, but only one copy of the original single was printed
11:38In 2004, Record Collector magazine valued McCartney's 1981 private remasterings at £10,000 each
11:53The original was valued at £100,000
11:56If you're a die-hard collector hoping to see that in circulation, well, that'll be the day
