00:00As a city wants to be sustainable in the future, they need to solve it with mobility.

00:12As cities around the world rethink how people move, Baku is reshaping its streets, transport systems and public spaces

00:19as part of a wider push towards smarter, cleaner urban mobility.

00:23For the last few years, we see major urban transformation in shifting focus from car-driving city for car-oriented city

00:33to people-oriented city, dozens of new bus lanes and bike lanes.

00:39That transformation is most visible where streets and public spaces have been redesigned around people rather than cars.

00:45About a year ago, the place where we are, it was completely different.

00:50We see a big parking lot there, there was almost no pedestrian infrastructure here.

00:57That square was completely redesigned.

01:00Now, no personal cars here, no taxis, only public transport hub here.

01:05We see buses, we see a metro station, railway station here and, of course, this micro-mobility parking here.

01:13So, both scooters, electric bikes and these simple green bikes.

01:18And beside this, there's at least two or three different public spaces in Baku that change like that.

01:30On every exit of train station, you will definitely see a bike parking.

01:35I think it's your turn to try your bike there.

01:37For residents, those changes are influencing how they move, work and experience the city.

01:42The infrastructure supports the riding bike, as you see from the green bike lines.

01:55And you see everyone use bikes, especially the younger ones use bikes and scooters to move around the city.

02:04For many commuters, micro-mobility has also changed how they manage their time, cost and well-being.

02:10My working place near city centre, I used to spend one hour to commute to work.

02:18But now, with the help of bike, it takes 10 minutes to reach my workplace.

02:25And this is really great because it saves my time.

02:29It's budget-friendly and also I feel like I contribute to the environment.

02:34While scooters and bicycles are seeing a surge in popularity here in Baku, it's the electric bus that's getting all the interest.

02:45And it's manufactured here in Azerbaijan.
