01:38The time is just before dawn.

01:47Your mind is in chaos.
01:50Your childhood, your teenage years and who you are right now, in a split second, they all flash before your eyes.

03:00The breath that is stuck in your throat is paralyzing your whole body.
03:04In that moment, the only thought that fills your mind, your only worry is,
03:09What will happen after I die?
03:11And now, Shaytan's final attacks are about to begin.
03:15This is the moment known as Sekaratul Maut, the agonies of death.
03:19Will you be able to hold on to your faith?
03:21Will you manage to save your Iman?
03:23Or will you be among those who lose it in their very last breath?
03:28Your muscles are losing their strength.
03:31Your hands, your arms and feet are getting colder.
03:34The color of your skin is fading, turning pale.
03:37And at that moment, Shaytan comes to you.
03:40The Prophet used to make the following dua.
03:45Ya Allah, I seek refuge with you from being led astray by Shaytan at the time of death.
03:51At that moment, Shaytan's biggest desire is to make sure you enter your grave without Iman.
03:57That's why he saves his final trick for the very end.
04:00Maybe he'll try to push you towards another religion.
04:03Or maybe he will try to make you say something rebellious against Allah.
04:07He whispers,
04:08I've been praying for you to get better for so long.
04:11But just look at you.
04:13You're only getting worse.
04:16Where is Allah now?
04:18Do you really think he hears you?
04:21Many people have been through this moment before, each in their own way.
04:25And now it is your turn.
04:27Just think about it.
04:28Even the Prophet asked Allah to protect him from this.
04:31Doesn't that say enough?
04:32Actually, the stronger your Iman is, the stronger you will respond in the moment of death.
04:37They say, you die as you live.
04:39Whatever we fill our souls with throughout our lives,
04:42that's what our tongues will speak when death comes to us.
04:45Oh no, I was deceived by worldly life.
04:53Someone who filled his soul with worldly desires will only utter them at the time of death.
04:59But a believer who lived his life with the love of Allah in his heart will remember and mention his Lord.
05:12Ya Rabb, Ya Latif, Ya Rahman, Ya Allah
05:19You might be thinking, but I already have Iman.
05:22However, what you need is an Iman that is deeply rooted in your heart and fully affirmed by your mind.
05:28Think of it like this.
05:29I have an apple in my hand, and there's a thief trying to take it from me no matter what.
05:34If I'm only holding it in my hand, even if I try to protect it as much as I can, he can easily snatch it away.
05:40But if I eat it, and it's digested inside me, it becomes impossible for the thief to take it from me.
05:46So, if you don't just hold the truths of Iman in your hand, but let them sink into your heart, mind and soul,
05:52then with Allah's permission, Shaytan won't be able to harm you in any way at the moment of death.
05:57But if you claim to believe in the afterlife, yet you still live like it doesn't exist,
06:02if your words say one thing, but your actions say another, then perhaps it's time to question yourself now.
06:08This is about winning or losing eternity, and you're still not taking it seriously.
06:13So, what else will happen at the time of death?
06:16The ayah says,
06:18Surely, for those who have said, Our Lord is Allah and then remain steadfast,
06:22the angels will descend upon them saying, Do not fear and do not grieve.
06:26Rather, rejoice in the good news of paradise, which you have been promised.
06:30The angels come to a righteous believer with bright, beautiful faces, dressed in pure white and carrying a pleasant fragrance.
06:38But for someone who lived without Iman, this is a moment filled with pain.
06:43Now, they are face to face with what they used to deny.
06:46No! No! Please! Don't come near me! Stay away! I believe! I believe Allah's real! Please! Just give me one more chance! Where are my friends? Where are my buddies? Is there no one to save me?
07:05But, for that person, the real fear is only beginning.
07:09Now, let's talk about what happens after death. Death isn't the end. It's not non-existence.
07:15It's simply a transition from one state to another.
07:20It's like leaving one home and entering another.
07:26It's the beginning of a different realm.
07:28Allah, the one who causes the earth to die every winter and brings it back to life every summer,
07:34also causes all humans to die so that he can raise them again on the day of judgment.
07:39And the place we will all stay before the afterlife is called the realm of Barzah, the intermediate world.
07:45Our Prophet said,
07:46The grave is either a garden from the gardens of paradise or a pit from the pits of the fire.
07:54Yes, you now have died. Your lifeless body has been brought into the ghusl room.
08:07It's lying there on the cold marble waiting to be washed.
08:12Your shroud, your coffin, everything is ready.
08:16Outside the door, your family is waiting.
08:27Your mother, your father, your siblings, your spouse and your children.
08:31Their eyes are swollen from crying.
08:35And they can barely speak.
08:37Soon, they will lift your coffin onto their shoulders and carry you to the mosque courtyard.
08:42As-salāt wa-salāt
09:01It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our neighbour, Ahmed Midyat.
09:05His funeral will be held today, following the dhuwa prayer at our local mosque.
09:11This announcement is extended to all his relatives, friends and neighbours.
09:15May Allah have mercy on him.
09:17The call to the funeral prayer you have heard your entire life is now being recited for you.
09:24Those who hear the news get shocked and say,
09:27He is gone?
09:28They stay silent for a moment but then go back to their lives.
09:31People have gathered and lined up to pray your janazah.
09:50My son!
09:55And then your coffin is lifted again.
09:57This time, towards your grave.
10:21It has already been dug. It's open.
10:23This is your new home and it's waiting for you.
10:28One of your loved ones steps down into the grave and gently lays your body on your right side,
10:34with your face turned towards the qabla.
10:37Then he comes out of it and begins placing the wooden planks over your grave.
10:43And with his own hands, he throws the first soil onto you.
10:48The soul sees all these moments directly.
10:52It sees everything.
10:53It watches as the body is being washed,
10:56as the janazah prayer is performed,
10:58and as the coffin is being carried to the grave.
11:01It hears the voices of the people who came,
11:03what they said, all of it.
11:05And as the people begin to leave the graveyard,
11:07the soul even hears the sound of their footsteps.
11:11Rasulullah said,
11:12The dead person is followed to his grave by three things.
11:17His family, his wealth and his deeds.
11:20His family and his wealth go back from the grave.
11:22And his deeds remain with him.
11:24If the person is righteous, he doesn't want the burial to take long.
11:28He is eager to reach the blessings of life in the grave as soon as possible.
11:31But if the person is wicked, he wants the burial to take longer.
11:35The friendships that walk with you up to your grave are now over.
11:39You are alone.
11:40And now the realm of Barzakh begins.
11:53The realm of Barzakh is a separate world.
11:55A barrier between this life and the hereafter.
11:58It begins with death and ends with resurrection.
12:01It's like the waiting room of the afterlife.
12:04Whether a person drowns in the sea and disappears,
12:07or is burned and their ashes are scattered,
12:09the soul stays unharmed, exactly as it was.
12:13There's no hiding from Allah's knowledge.
12:15Everyone will be treated exactly as they deserve.
12:18This phase is explained in detail in a hadith of the Prophet .
12:22When a believer is about to leave the world and go forward to the next world,
12:27angels with faces white as the sun come down to him from heaven
12:31with one of the shrouds of paradise and some of the perfume of paradise,
12:35and sit away from him as far as the eye can see.
12:37Then the angel of death comes and sits at his head and says,
12:42O you good soul, come out to the forgiveness and pleasure of your Lord.
12:46Then the soul comes out easily, and he seizes it.
12:49And when he does, the other angels immediately take the soul from the angel of death,
12:54not leaving it in his hand even for the blink of an eye.
12:56Then they place it in that shroud and that perfume.
13:00And from it there comes forth a fragrance like that of the sweetest musk found on the face of the earth.
13:06They then raise it up to the sky.
13:08Every group of angels they pass by asks,
13:11Who is this good soul?
13:12The angels who are raising the soul respond by calling him with the best names he used to be called in this life.
13:17When they reach the skies, all the gates are opened for them.
13:21As they pass through each level up to the seventh heaven, the angels greet the soul.
13:26Then Allah says,
13:27Record the book of my servant in Illyyun, the register of the righteous, and take him back to earth.
13:33For I created mankind from it, I shall return them into it.
13:37And from it I shall bring them forth another time.
13:40Then he is returned to his grave, to the realm of Barzakh.
13:43And there, two angels named Munkar and Nakhir come for questioning.
13:47Man Rabbukeh, who is your Lord?
13:54My Lord is Allah, the one I worshipped during my life.
13:59What is your religion?
14:01My religion is Islam.
14:04Who is this man who was sent among you?
14:07He is the messenger of Allah, Muhammad, peace be upon him.
14:12This is how a true believer responds to all these questions and gives the correct answers.
14:18All the prayers that a believer performed in his life and all the good deeds that he did come to join him in the grave.
14:25When Munkar and Nakhir arrive to question him, a being made of light comes and sits by his head.
14:31This is the prayers he used to perform during his lifetime.
14:35Then his other good deeds appear one by one.
14:37His fasting stands on his right, his zakah on his left and all his other righteous deeds gather at his feet.
14:44Each of them stands in its place to protect him, blocking the grave from crushing his bones, hurting him or causing him any distress.
14:52After the questioning, when the believer answers correctly, a window to paradise is opened for him.
14:57Then Allah commands that his grave be expanded as far as the eye can see and that a bed from the beds of Jannah be prepared for him.
15:04Then on the side of his grave, a window opens and he is shown the scenes of paradise, the eternal home of all the believers.
15:12His heart fills with peace and he watches paradise until the day of judgment.
15:17But there is also the other side, the painful one that awaits those who die without Iman and those whose lives were full of major sins.
15:25In the grave, it's not the mind that gives the answers, it's the heart.
15:38The person responds according to his status in the sight of Allah.
15:43If he was someone who denied Allah's religion and his messenger, he won't be able to answer those questions.
16:00Even if he was a Muslim, if he lived a life full of sins, his tongue may not work when he tries to answer.
16:05For some, this becomes a friendly conversation with the angels, but for others, it turns into a painful interrogation.
16:13The gates of hell are opened and the punishment inside is shown to him.
16:19And he begins to suffer the torment of the grave.
16:22The burning heat and the smell of hell reach him. His grave becomes tight and starts crushing him.
16:38Then a man with a dark face and filthy clothes appears in front of the wicked soul and says,
16:44This is the day you were promised.
16:47The soul asks in fear, Who are you?
16:50I am your evil deeds, the interest you took, the backbiting you did, the haram things you looked at.
16:59Why are you afraid? Haven't I been what you desired for all these years?
17:05Well, here I am, standing right in front of you.
17:09Upon this he prays, My lord, do not let the hour come.
17:13Zayd ibn Thabit said, We went with the Messenger of Allah to a garden that belonged to Beno Najjar.
17:24He was riding his animal. Suddenly, the animal got frightened and almost threw him off.
17:28We looked and saw that there were a few graves nearby.
17:35The Messenger of Allah said, The people buried here are going through suffering in the grave.
17:40If I wasn't afraid that you would stop burying your dead, I would ask Allah to let you hear the punishment of the grave just as I hear it.
17:49Then he turns his face towards us and said, Seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave.
17:53Here it is, your new home. Up there, everything was bright and full of color. But here it is pitch black.
18:03Everything came to an end so quickly, didn't it?
18:06Either you will say, Oh Allah, please give me one more chance. I promise I'll fix myself.
18:12As if Allah hadn't already given you so many chances every single day of your life.
18:16Or you will say, Ya Rab, all praise and thanks be to you because you didn't live a life that would cause you trouble in the hereafter.
18:25You stayed away from Harams and you fulfilled your obligations. Your time of duty in this world has come to an end.
18:31Now, you are on your way to receive your reward. And this grave is your very first stop.
