Rani Mukerji recently attended the Bhamla Foundation’s Empower To Educate Supergirls initiative, where she empowered schoolgirls by sharing heartfelt and unheard stories from her school days. From missing her innocent and carefree years - playing the flute in a band to exam pressures, she urged girls to enjoy every moment as much as possible because these days never return once gone.
00:00Quickly I am going to get into questions to our two main dignitaries. I know Rani ji also has to leave very quickly.
00:07So, let me start with the face of our campaign, Kajol ji. You are the face of this campaign which is to educate girls and to empower them.
00:16But also, it is school girls here. So I want to ask both of you, you will tell me in short what was school like for you?
00:23Do you remember school time and what was it like? Was it fun? Was it fun?
00:30Hi girls!
00:35It is so wonderful to see you all screaming, looking at you all. Actually you guys are reminding me of school.
00:42My school days, in fact when I entered today and I saw the band playing, it took me back to my school days when I used to be playing the flute.
00:51So a big round of applause to all the girls who were playing the band. And they did such a fabulous job.
00:59So superb girls, they are right there outside. I hope you can send the message to them that they were outstanding.
01:08So yes, school days have always been, I think they are the most amazing days for any individual. Because they are always playful, they are energetic, they are innocent. You know, the innocent days.
01:23Where we would just feel that the biggest burden on our heads were exams. There was no other thing more taxing than exams and everything else I think our parents took care of.
01:36But yes, school days are days that will never come back. So I just want to tell you all, enjoy it while it lasts. Because the friendships that you make here are going to be there for life long.
01:49So keep your friends close. Take all the learnings from your teachers because they are going to be the most important pillars in your life to actually make you who you are going to be tomorrow.
02:02And this whole thing of Supergirls of tomorrow is a great initiative, I think. Because women are the most important and integral part of our society. And I am so happy that you guys are doing this.
02:15And thank you so much for giving me this award and honoring me. Because through my work in cinema, I like to play powerful, fiercely independent women who shatter glass ceilings. So yes, this is for all you girls. I love you and I will continue doing what I am doing. Thank you.
