Ever wonder why cybersecurity experts tell you to avoid "Free Public Wi-Fi"? πŸ›‘ In this video, I demonstrate exactly how easy it is for an attacker to sniff your network traffic using tools like Wireshark.

I’ll show you a simulated attack where a victim connects to an open network and logs into a website. Within seconds, the attacker can capture the "POST" request and view the username and password in plain text! πŸ”“

Tools used:

Kali Linux / Linux Environment

Wireshark (Network Protocol Analyzer)

Takeaway: Always use a VPN or mobile data when accessing sensitive accounts in public!

00:00Let me show you guys why you should never connect to a public Wi-Fi.
00:03First, let's head over to our victim machine.
00:06Connect to the free Wi-Fi.
00:09Then back to our attacker machine, we launch up Wireshark.
00:13For anyone who doesn't know, Wireshark is a network packet analyzer.
00:17You basically analyze your network, what's coming in and what's going out.
00:21Then from the victim machine, we go into any login form.
00:24We type in our credentials.
00:26Log in.
00:27We go back to Wireshark.
00:28And as we see, we have the post request in the server.
00:32And as we see right here, we have the encoded data.
00:35Latex admin.
00:37Username, username, username.
00:38There's admin and that's what we need to do with that.
