00:00Ladies and gentlemen, this is your TNA Turning Point opening contest.
00:04An X-Division Rankings match.
00:06Wrestlers are eliminated by pinfall or submission.
00:10And introducing the participants first, Consequences Creed.
00:17Certainly a real fan favorite since joining TNA.
00:21Consequences Creed has been on the verge of winning the X-Division title several times.
00:26A win here tonight at Turning Point would give him another title shot.
00:31Accompanied by SoCalVal, the guru, Sanjay Dutt.
00:37You know, we've talked about this guy's potential for so long,
00:40about he may be the best X-Division wrestler to never win it.
00:43But you know what?
00:44This guy's running out of chances.
00:46Tonight, it's put up or shut up for the guru, Sanjay Dutt.
00:51Maple Leaf Muscle, Katie Williams.
00:56The master of the Canadian Destroyer, two-time X-Division champion.
01:01Will Petey Williams have an advantage because of the other members of the TNA Originals in this matchup?
01:08Life Consequences Creed.
01:11Jimmy Reed!
01:14You know, sometimes, Mike, it's all about an opportunity.
01:16It's all about getting out of somebody else's shadow.
01:19Jimmy Reed has a great chance tonight to show everybody how good he is personally as a wrestler in that ring.
01:25From Mexico City, Mexico, Volador!
01:31Second-generation wrestler from the CMLL promotion in Mexico City.
01:36He competed for Team Mexico in the 2008 World X-Cup, and he actually won the Ultimate X-Match back in July at Victory Road.
01:44Showtime, Eric Young!
01:46Well, I'll tell you what, here's a guy that's found a purpose here at TNA as he stood tall with Samoa Joe and AJ Styles.
01:53And this more serious side, we're gonna see how it benefits him here as we determine the rankings.
01:59From the United Kingdom, Doug Williams!
02:03A member of Team International in the 2008 World X-Cup, the 15-year pro is known as the Human Torture Device.
02:13Look for the submission style of Doug Williams.
02:17From Tokyo, Japan, Hiroshi Tanahashi!
02:2231 years old, the 9-year pro.
02:25Think about the matchup he had in January of 2006 with the phenomenal AJ Styles.
02:30And this shows you the allure that TNA has all over the world.
02:35Representing LAX, Homicide!
02:40A three-time TNA World Tag Team Champion as a member of the Latin American Exchange.
02:47Homicide looks to become Exhibition Champ for the first time.
02:50A win tonight gets him that title shot.
02:52And your final participant, like machismo, Jay Lethal!
02:58Another great opportunity here for Jay Lethal.
03:01I mean, we saw him there in the Steel Asylum when he got that win.
03:04Then he lost that matchup with Bashir.
03:06Here's another chance to get yourself number one in the rankings.
03:10Then get another shot at Bashir down the road to get that X-Title Belt back.
03:15Order of elimination.
03:16Whether it be by a pin or submission will determine the top 10 rankings in the X-Division.
03:22The winner, the lone survivor, will get an X-Division title shot versus Sheik Abdul Bashir.
03:29And I understand they will compete under Lucha Libre tag rules.
03:33So if one of the competitors goes out to the arena floor, he can be replaced in the ring without a tag.
03:38I'll tell you something, this is one of those matchups.
03:40The adrenaline is so high when the pay-per-view starts out.
03:44I mean, these guys know that they can set the pace for the whole night.
03:47And some of them are a little too worked up and it'll cause some mistakes to be made.
03:52The problem is, is you don't want to make a mistake early on and get beat by something stupid when
03:57you can concentrate and focus on this match.
03:59One of the main things that we need to focus on is how the TNA Originals, the group will work together.
04:05Consequences Creed connects with the clothesline.
04:07He has Petey Williams, Jay Lethal, and Eric Young all as members of the TNA Originals competing in this 10-man match.
04:16Well, they're going to show each other respect, I'm sure.
04:18But again, this is about a situation where you want to get your ranking up there.
04:22You want to get your chance to get X Division gold, to get on the map.
04:26I talked about Jimmy Ray earlier, a great opportunity for him for people to notice him as a singles wrestler.
04:31Look at the guru!
04:33I mean, my gosh, that was a 720, that was a 1440.
04:37He went around five or six times.
04:39Multiple revolutions that time by the guru Sanjay Dutt.
04:43And think back to the history between these two as they square off the guru and Black Machismo.
04:49Well, I asked Jay Lethal about that, and he said, you know what?
04:51You can't make the mistake of making this person.
04:53Oh, well, something like that, though, Mike, get under his skin.
04:56And it did, as he suicide-dives right on the guru, right into the rail.
05:00Bad move Sanjay Dutt.
05:02That's the way you answer a situation like that.
05:06Great move that time by Black Machismo as he crashes down to the suicide dive,
05:12right onto Sanjay Dutt, right at the feet of SoCal Val.
05:15Well, here's where the Lucha Libre rules go into effect.
05:17The Ta-Nehisi and Homicide find themselves right into the ring.
05:20And, you know, it just shows you that allure that, oh, nice move by Homicide.
05:26Trying to take advantage.
05:27Another good opportunity for him.
05:28This guy's been wrestling tag teams for so long here on TNA.
05:31And he's somebody that knows how good he can be.
05:34This is his.
05:35You know he's thought about carrying that exercise title belt, Mike.
05:38And as Homicide squares off with Hiroshi Tanahashi,
05:41think of the resume that Tanahashi brings to TNA.
05:44Multi-time IWGP heavyweight champion with the New Japan Pro Wrestling Organization.
05:50As we see Homicide catch him right in the face with the boot.
05:53And then here comes UK's Doug Williams into battle.
05:57Watch Doug Williams use his knees as offensive weapons.
06:00And that time, it's actually the knees of Maple Leaf Russell,
06:03Petey Williams, that come into play.
06:05Oh, I'll tell you what, but you talked about the knee.
06:08Petey Williams goes right into the knee of Doug Williams.
06:10Doug Williams gonna taste something else.
06:12Watch the strength of this guy.
06:13He was so impressive when he was here for that World X Cup.
06:16Somebody, oh, but Petey Williams on fire.
06:19Nice spin kick.
06:20Here he goes.
06:21One, two.
06:22Nope.
06:22Don't even have had a first elimination.
06:25Petey back to the offense, working on the arm of Williams.
06:28Trying to extend it out.
06:29The nice counter by Williams into the arm drag.
06:31And as he goes for the kick, Petey's prepared.
06:34Petey's ready.
06:35Extends the leg and catches him with the drop kick.
06:37Petey to the ropes, gonna slingshot over into that flawless hurricanrana.
06:42Well, a great opportunity here for Volador and Eric Gunn as they jump in the ring.
06:46But Petey Williams showing how hard he wants to get back into that exclamation title mix-up,
06:51and I'll tell you what.
06:53He's somebody that's carried that belt multiple times and knows what it means.
06:57Certainly have seen a different side of Eric Young in recent weeks.
07:01Ever since the formation of those TNA Originals,
07:04ever since AJ Styles and Samoa Joe invited the locker room to join them,
07:08the recruiting effort, we have seen a much more serious Eric Young as he's able to take
07:14Volador up and position him, place him on the top turnbuckle.
07:18I'll tell you what, impressive.
07:20He's showing everybody how good a wrestler he can be and that you've got to take him serious.
07:24It's amazing what confidence can do for somebody and a purpose in life, and he's got it.
07:28He feels like he has a family.
07:30But one thing Volador has got is speed, weakness, and he takes Eric Young out of the ring.
07:34I mean, Volador translates into Flyer, and you're seeing that here.
07:38Quickly cut off by Matizmo, but Volador catches him, flips him over.
07:42Nice leg sweep into a pin, can't even get a one count.
07:45Lethal back with the leg sweep.
07:47What an incredible exchange between these two.
07:49Wow, look at this crowd.
07:50I mean, they appreciate that kind of an effort.
07:52That is what this athleticism is all about.
07:56That's what the X Division is all about.
07:58And it's nice for them to help us remember what helped define this company,
08:02and they're doing it tonight.
08:05Volador uses the top rope.
08:08Extra leverage takes him over, and then Black Machismo comes right back
08:12and takes him across the knee with that tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.
08:15Oh, you can see Volador having a hard time getting to his feet.
08:18But I'll tell you what, though, look at that.
08:20A nice counter of his own, and then here come the Guru.
08:23He was able to kind of hide behind Volador so that Lethal didn't have a chance to see him,
08:28and then he took that shot.
08:29Couldn't agree more.
08:30Used the body of Volador as a shield that time.
08:33Well, you know, I said it earlier about Sanjay Dodd.
08:36This guy's got so much ability and potential,
08:38and he's been so distracted with the SoCal Val thing.
08:41I think this is his chance.
08:43He better shine right now, or he could find himself really falling down that ladder.
08:48Ten competitors trying to find out where they're going to be placed in the rankings,
08:52and so far, Don, all ten still in play.
08:54And they've all been impressive in one way or another.
08:57Looking again, Sanjay Dodd is just amazing.
09:00Just the balance that he has, and how he can use his speed to defy gravity at times.
09:06Showing off for SoCal Val as well.
09:08Smart move that time by Volador as the Guru's tied up in the ropes.
09:12Here he comes across, goes with a basement dropkick, and catches Sanjay Dodd right in the face.
09:17Oh, he did.
09:18Nice dropkick when he rolls back in the ring, which could cost him.
09:20Oh, but just out of an impulse, he's able to get that shoulder up at the last second.
09:26Volador takes the arm of Dutt and fires him across.
09:29Sanjay stops in mid-ring.
09:31Up on the shoulders now of Volador.
09:33Guru drops down and DDTs him.
09:36Well, here's an opportunity, though.
09:37He needs to get right on top of Volador after hitting that DDT, but
09:40you can see he just got something else in mind, and that's one of those things you can't do.
09:44You've got to take advantage of the opportunities that you have.
09:47He's allowed Volador to get to his feet.
09:49He took way too long.
09:51High risk here for the Guru.
09:53May not be a reward.
09:55Volador gonna need him in both men.
09:57Up on top.
09:57Talk about a precarious position here.
10:00Super Huracanrana off the top.
10:02Man, Volador hit it.
10:04One, two.
10:05Sanjay Dutt has been eliminated.
10:07The Guru Sanjay Dutt has been eliminated.
10:10And with that elimination, the Guru Sanjay Dutt is in the 10 spot in the top 10 rankings
10:16as far as the X Division challenge is concerned.
10:19Jimmy Rave immediately met by Volador, and I thought Volador was gonna put away another one.
10:23I'll tell you what, the Guru's gonna have to really sit down and rethink,
10:26you know, what his position here as a TNA, and maybe the damage that SoCal Val has done to him.
10:31I would have never guessed that he'd be the first one eliminated.
10:34Look at Volador, so impressive.
10:38Again, just snaps it off, and you can see Jimmy Rave gets out of the ring quickly,
10:43get his bearings.
10:43But look at Volador, he's gonna fly.
10:46Oh, beautiful somersault right over the top rope.
10:48One of the stars from Mexico as part of this opening match at turning point.
10:58Certainly international flair, international flavor in this X Division rankings matchup
11:04and the crowd here in Orlando, Florida absolutely loves what they've seen from Volador.
11:09I mean, think about it.
11:10This thing's gone about seven, eight minutes.
11:11Only one person has even been eliminated at this point.
11:15Jimmy Rave, though, able to recoup.
11:16Oh, man, it's Rock the World.
11:19One, two, got it.
11:21Volador has been eliminated.
11:24The Rock the World finisher puts away Volador, and, boy, Volador's been so impressive here,
11:29but now he's out.
11:30He's in the number nine spot as we see the UK's Doug Williams.
11:35Just that time caught completely unaware by Rave.
11:38One, two, not enough.
11:39I'll tell you what, this is one of those where it's smart sometimes to be unnoticed.
11:43Great chance.
11:44I mean, stay on the other side of the ropes and don't tag anything.
11:47Stay under the radar.
11:48Stay under the radar.
11:49That's what happened to Volador.
11:50He was on such a roll.
11:52He was being so impressive, but the longer he was out there, the better chance something
11:56had of happening, and it did.
11:57Expose yourself the longer you're out there to being either in or submitting,
12:01as we see Rave and Williams, and Williams with a quick roll up out of the corner,
12:05right into that suplex.
12:07One, two, got it.
12:09Jimmy Rave has been eliminated.
12:11That's so impressive, just how powerful it is, and just when he sticks it, you know there's
12:16no way they're getting their stones out.
12:17Doug Williams impressed us in the 2008 World X Cup, and doing so as well here tonight at
12:23Turning Point.
12:24Able to elevate EY and Eric Young crashes down on the arena floor.
12:28At that point, Consequences Creed immediately in to take his place.
12:32Now Petey Williams, we're seeing three of the TNA Originals back to back to back right here
12:37against Doug Williams, but then Tanahashi close lines Petey before he can hit the Canadian Destroyer.
12:42Kind of breaking down, but another incredible display of strength by Doug Williams.
12:47One of those situations you can't hesitate like Petey Williams did.
12:50Look at these two going.
12:51Oh, man, the Gringo Cutter.
12:55Tana side off the ropes.
12:56Here he comes.
12:57Bodies out on the floor.
12:58And there's that.
12:59Oh, my.
13:00To Tope Congelo outside, but he caught the rail.
13:04And Mike, this guy is hurt.
13:06Look at him, laid down, holding the top of his head, almost like he went too far.
13:11He overshot, and he caught that rail, and I think he went on and hit his head against the wall.
13:19And you can see referee Andrew Thomas, referee Shane Shull watching
13:24around the ringside area, checking on the condition of homicide.
13:29He can't go.
13:31Well, he's gonna be eliminated just for the process that he's hurt and not even
13:35able to do something.
13:36Hernandez just ran by us, and he's going over there to check on his partner.
13:40Oh, I don't know if that's possible to see, but it's unbelievable.
13:44He took this Tope Congelo, and I swear he went too far.
13:49Mike, look.
13:50Well, you can see that he not only caught the barbed rail with his legs and knees,
13:55but then at the same time, what a bad landing out on the unprotected concrete floor.
14:00And then he just went right into that wall, that concrete wall, and you can see the pain
14:05that he's feeling as Hernandez picking him up.
14:07And these guys, they're gonna shake this off and move on.
14:10Well, you can really see the battle lines here, Don, being drawn in this matchup.
14:15Homicide eliminated in the number seven spot as we're down to the final six competitors in this match.
14:21Well, you talked about this earlier.
14:23How would the Young Lions work together where they're doing it?
14:26The four of them just teamed right up on Doug Williams and Tanahashi and working together.
14:30Now, eventually, they're not gonna be able to, but right now, they're showing great unity.
14:34Big of the numbers.
14:35Four out of the last six, everybody but Tanahashi.
14:38And Doug Williams as Eric Young crashes down onto Williams and then Creed gets out.
14:44Man, I thought that was done, but Doug Williams was able to get the shoulder up in time and
14:48rolls out of the ring.
14:50Creed challenges Tanahashi.
14:52The drop toehold and he saw his neck snap.
14:54Hesitation drop kick by TD Williams into the lower back.
14:58And now it's Creed spinning neck breaker on Tanahashi.
15:03Put him right on the back of his head.
15:04Tanahashi now rolling out, trying to get his bearings.
15:07And you realize that PD Williams cuts the circles Creed.
15:10They're gonna have to go against each other.
15:12And you know, they know how important it is to stand together tonight.
15:15But you know what?
15:16To me, you show that sign by respecting your opponent enough to go after him.
15:21Because now, it's about these rankings.
15:25Creed in Williams square off.
15:27And I think we saw Creed extend the hand right there.
15:30As we see Petey Maple Leaf Muscle unleash those chops.
15:34What do you think of this scenario with Maple Leaf Muscle?
15:36Petey Williams is one of the TNA originals.
15:39And Big Papa pumped Scott Steiner as the hitman for the main event mafia.
15:43Well, sometimes in life you gotta make tough choices.
15:45And sometimes you gotta break away.
15:47Even if it's from your own family, so to speak.
15:49Petey Williams has made that decision.
15:51He knows where his heart is and where he wants to stand.
15:53Remember that Petey made the decision before Scott Steiner came back here as the hitman.
15:58Super kick right into the midsection of Maple Leaf Muscle.
16:02Creed feels the confidence.
16:04Here comes, oh!
16:05And Hayden Destroyer never quite seen him do it in that ring!
16:09One, two, got it!
16:10Consequences, Creed has been nominated.
16:14And I think that's the key to the success of that move.
16:17I mean, everybody knows when they're in with Petey Williams that he's got that in his game plan.
16:21And they have it so well scouted, caught him completely unaware.
16:24I mean, he just went right with the momentum and the flow.
16:27And consequences, Creed had no chance.
16:29But Doug Williams, Tanahashi now getting a little revenge working together.
16:33And Petey Williams, he's just laid out here in the middle of Tanahashi up high!
16:38Here he goes!
16:39Wow!
16:40What a frog splash!
16:41He turns it in an air and lands on his head.
16:43And that's it for Petey.
16:44Petey Williams is eliminated.
16:46Petey Williams in the number five spot as we go down now to the final four in this matchup.
16:54Black Machismo, Jay Lethal, Eric Young, Doug Williams, Hiroshi Tanahashi.
17:00Oh, nice kick from the back of the head.
17:01And I mean, he just dropped like a stone to the mat.
17:04And now Jay Lethal double-team Tanahashi, Doug Williams.
17:08And interesting to see Williams from the UK, Tanahashi from Japan, working together for
17:17much of this opening match tonight here at Turning Point.
17:20Well, you do what you got to do.
17:21Eventually, it'll get down to the two of them if they continue this partnership here, so to speak.
17:26But right now, they are focused on Jay Lethal.
17:29And they know Jay Lethal's reputation.
17:30They know he's the guy that's held that exhibition title belt.
17:33They know it's something he's dying to get back again.
17:36And I'll tell you what, putting that knee right to his chin here comes Tanahashi.
17:40What a wicked dropkick.
17:42Big, impactful move in the corner.
17:44Lethal not able to go anywhere with that dropkick from Tanahashi.
17:47And then Williams takes him over.
17:49Doug connects with the gut-wrench suplex.
17:51Tanahashi, great somersault, leg drop, leads to no, a near fall.
17:56Black Machismo.
17:58I don't know how he was able to get the shoulder up there, but he dug down deep.
18:02I mean, that was just sheer willpower.
18:04Again, it looks like Williams and Tanahashi to work together against Lethal.
18:10Shows the agility by landing on his feet.
18:13And then comes off, catches Williams with a kick.
18:15Inside cradle, small package, Tanahashi's out.
18:18Tanahashi has been eliminated.
18:20Oh, what a clothesline.
18:22Turned him inside out.
18:24It's lights out.
18:25One, two, no, again, Lethal finds a way to get the shoulder up just barely.
18:31Unbelievable.
18:32That's what he was dead.
18:33Amazing recuperative powers.
18:36A Black Machismo, Jay Lethal, who looked like he was toast after that clothesline.
18:41Doug Williams, again, so impressive, as has been Tanahashi, of course.
18:45Anybody that's lasted this long, but I'll tell you what.
18:48You and I talk about this guy so much and all the things he can do.
18:51Look at this.
18:52Jay Lethal just fighting over dear life.
18:54The guy's so powerful.
18:56Look at this.
18:57Rolls him right into Eric Young.
18:59And then Eric Young puts him on the back of his head.
19:02Can he do it?
19:02One, two, got him.
19:05Doug Williams is eliminated.
19:06Boy, impressive showing by Doug Williams.
19:09But he's eliminated and finds himself in the number three spot in the rankings.
19:14Now we're down to EY and Black Machismo, Jay Lethal, Eric Young, to square off to find out
19:22who will be number two, number one in the X Division rankings.
19:26And of course, number one's in line for a shot at the X Division champ, Sheik Abdul-Bashir.
19:31Well, you saw him again, the handshake, that signed respect, that showed respect.
19:35But now it's all about getting that ranking, that number one ranking.
19:38And you just can't worry about the other one's feelings.
19:40And you can see Eric's got that shoulder.
19:43Wait a minute.
19:43He rolled Lethal on his.
19:46This exchange is back and forth here.
19:48These guys just countering each other so quickly.
19:50Machismo immediately back up to his feet.
19:53They square off again.
19:54And Eric's going to try and roll him up.
19:56You saw Lethal, however, hook onto that top rope.
19:59Here comes EY back at him again.
20:01Mid-ring collision.
20:03Eric's going to fight for a suplex.
20:05No, this time being able to shrug off that time by Lethal.
20:08Well, he just held on the ropes, but man.
20:11I mean, using both four arms there, he turned Lethal inside out.
20:14Isn't enough?
20:15Again.
20:16You can sense that Lethal wasn't done that time.
20:18Now, when Doug Williams did with that clothesline, I thought it was over.
20:21You can sense that Lethal's just getting it back.
20:24But he's still a little wobbly.
20:27But how about Eric Young, huh?
20:28I don't think it's any coincidence that with the more serious nature of Eric Young goes
20:33the successes at Bridgeton.
20:35Did he get it?
20:36Here is your winner, Showtime, Eric Young.
20:41Eric Young wins the TNA X Division rankings match.
20:49And Eric Young is now in line for a shot at the X Division Championship.
20:54Well, we saw Jay Legal there.
20:55How many lives could the guy have?
