00:00Responding to calls by opposition parties in Tobago for the removal of the radar,
00:05Mr. Augustin believes the administration of the radar should be under the control of the THA with a knowledge-sharing agreement.
00:13My view on that is, once Tobago is not going to be used as a launching pad for any attacks on any other nation,
00:22once Tobago is not going to be part of any war, radars are systems that we have always had
00:31to monitor what happens both in the air and in our marine space.
00:36Augustin says the surveillance of the radar is necessary for Tobago.
00:41You notice I'm talking about CTTV cameras and so on around the island
00:46to help to ramp up our efforts when it comes to security of the island.
00:51We need the surveillance.
00:53The chief secretary also told TV6 News the decision by the government to grant approvals
00:59for United States military aircraft to transit Trinidad and Tobago's airports in the coming weeks
01:05was not discussed with him beforehand.
01:08In fact, Mr. Augustin said, like everybody else, he knew via a release from the Ministry of Foreign
01:15and Caricom Affairs of the decision made.
01:18I saw it from a press release today.
01:20So, while I was conversing, I saw the press release out to the public.
01:24So, I take it that the government sought to inform everybody, including myself, at the same time.
01:30But we had no prior discussion about it, but it came through a press release.
