00:00Hi, my name is Petra Volpe. I'm the director and one of the writers of Frank and Louis,
00:11a film premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in 2026. Our film tells the story of Frank,
00:19an incarcerated man who takes on the job of taking care of elderly inmates with
00:24Alzheimer's and dementia. Eventually, he forms a deeply transformative bond with Louis, one
00:29of the men he looks after. The film is inspired by the gold coat program at the
00:35San Luis Obispo men's colony in California, where younger incarcerated men are trained
00:43to be caretakers for the elderly who have Alzheimer's and dementia. My DP and I
00:49visited the prison twice, once in 2014 and once in 2017 and had long conversations
00:55with the gold coats. Those encounters inspired us deeply and moved us and kept
01:02us going for the past 10 years it took us to make this movie. We are incredibly
01:06grateful and excited that the film will be playing at the Film Festival in Sundance
01:12and we can't wait to share the movie with the audience. Thank you so much and
01:18see you in the theatre.
