00:00My name is Vanessa Montero and I am a young woman in politics venezolana and bolivarian.
00:14She is president of the National Assembly, secretary general of the movement Somos Venezuela
00:18and a representative of the youth leadership in the country.
00:21Today we will meet Vanessa Montero.
00:24What moment did you say, yes, I want to dedicate myself to politics?
00:32I saw a document from Olivia Gubernier.
00:34Thanks to her, her story, her struggle,
00:38a woman of 21 years old, venezolana,
00:43she was brutally murdered in the government of Rómulo Betancourt.
00:48So I think there was a connection where I said I want to be like her, I want to be like Lidia.
00:54What challenges have a young woman in politics?
00:58We are all the days fighting the system patriarchal,
01:01which is a system that is accommodating to the men.
01:05So that is the biggest challenge that we have as women,
01:10now imagine from the youth,
01:13that also, despite all of fighting against a system that is the patriarchal system,
01:18you also have to fight against the adult centrism.
01:21And I think that that is one of the biggest challenges that we have.
01:25Dedicándose to politics,
01:27do you still maintain a young life
01:30or have to have to sacrifice some things?
01:32That is a complicated question,
01:34because as I was very little in politics,
01:39I had 12 to 13 years old in politics,
01:42I didn't have a young woman, normal,
01:48like all the young people who want to be.
01:51And I took care of my responsibilities at a very early age,
01:54which also makes me want to have responsibilities,
01:57makes me want to grow faster,
01:59and makes me want to sacrifice things
02:01things that you have to do,
02:04because you have to start to evaluate other elements.
02:07What is more difficult,
02:08being vice president of the National Assembly
02:11or being chief of a political organization?
02:13It is very easy,
02:14it is very easy.
02:15It is very easy.
02:16The vice president of the National Assembly
02:19is a school,
02:20but I have it very clear.
02:22I think that the most complicated
02:23is to take a political organization,
02:26although it is the most complex,
02:28it is the most difficult,
02:29I think it is the most satisfying.
02:34The leadership of Vanessa
02:35reflects the strength of a generation
02:37that is responsible for the democracy,
02:38the inclusion,
02:39and the protagonism of the citizens.
02:40We'll see you next time
02:41to continue to know our people.
02:43Every time.
02:45Thank you for being here,
02:46everybody.
03:09See you next time.
