00:00Welcome back everyone it's Charlie this will be my full Stranger Things season 5 episode 1, 2, 3 and 4 video for volume 1 there are a bunch of Easter eggs references they started to confirm some of the big fan theories about what's going on this season so we'll break it all down now that we got the big reveal I'm sure there's going to be all kinds of questions about power scaling and who the most powerful character on the show is if you're brand new to the channel I'll be
00:29doing videos for all the episodes this season volume 2 which will be happening around Christmas and then the finale which is around New Year's Eve be sure to subscribe to get everything the title of episode 1 was the crawl a reference to Hopper and the group's hunts for Vecna they've been doing since season 4 which they call dungeon crawls more Dungeons and Dragons references there been a lot of theories that season will actually adhere to Dungeons and Dragons tropes like they have in previous seasons in the game itself provides the framework for the entire series
00:58Vecna the mind flayer all the big villains on the show are named after Dungeons and Dragons villains we find out that they continue to break into the upside down over 30 different times since season 4 just a search for Vecna but haven't been able to find him yet until we find out about the mystery wall that he's erected and it is like Game of Thrones level wall big like it's massive
01:20they also start to zero in on Vecna's position once they learn about wills horcrux style Harry Potter Voldemort visions to set up the idea that they are connected psychically it literally feels like it's ripped right out of the pages of Harry Potter seeing things as if he were Vecna if they're connected on a biological level because of what Vecna did with him in this episode basically begins the opening scene is to explain what happened to will right after Vecna stole him
01:50this off with an even bigger Harry Potter twist with the idea of Voldemort during the Harry Potter series empowered Harry Potter when he marked him trying to kill him and now Vecna has kind of done something similar to will so all these powers that will is manifesting now like Eleven's powers were given to him by Vecna inadvertently without Vecna thinking that that was what he was doing ultimately creating his own worst enemy
02:20is now the next person that he's gone after the same way that he went after will in season one they start the episode with a brand new custom Netflix intro theme for stranger things where it transitions from the right side up with a normal dimension into the upside down with the Netflix symbol forming the portal that tears between dimensions that we see during the series they actually just did this recently for the Witcher season four they've done it in previous seasons for other shows as well in lesser ways but now it's just getting to be much of a bigger thing so just expect to see more of this with other
02:50big series then another real big deep cut Easter egg callback to the beginning of the series the title card November 12 1983 was the way they began season one episode one and it's literally meant to be like I said that scene right after Vecna has captured will and brought the upside down this is meant to set up their whole Harry Potter Voldemort Horcrux style psychic connection between them that he starts to experience in present day later he reveals to will that he did this just to turn him and the other kids into more vessels for himself
03:19my hope is is they'll clarify this during the second batch of episodes
03:22you also notice during this opening scene with the close-up on Vecna's eyes it looks like he's flayed just like Will's eyes when he was flayed during season two
03:34there been a lot of theories that the mind flayer has secretly been controlling Vecna this whole time and not the other way around as they seemingly implied during season four where you see Vecna give it legs with his powers when he's pushed into the upside down by eleven
03:48if you have not seen it the Stranger Things first shadow play is a Vecna origin story it's a Broadway play you can only see it if you go to Broadway both the Duffer brothers said that it's meant to be canon and during that play they heavily imply that Henry Creel was just a nice boy that was then pulled into another dimension called dimension X it's not the upside down it's a different alternate dimension he was stuck there for twelve hours then mysteriously came back with his powers and under the heavy control of the mind flayer
04:16of the mind flayer so it's implied that the mind flayer was responsible for everything gave Henry Creel his powers and potentially it was the mind flayer influencing him this whole time to do all these different things during the actual play they also get into more Harry Potter Voldemort references with Henry Creel's relationship with the mind flayer races that he was not strong enough to keep the mind flayer out of his mind the same way that Harry Potter during the Harry Potter series tries to keep
04:46wondering if this means that the mind flayer might theoretically be the actual final boss of this series not Vecna himself that is currently just a theory we have not seen all the episodes yet so still hanging in the air you can all post your theories in the comments below during this first block of episodes things also proceed in a very Harry Potter type of stuff where Harry Potter learns that he has a connection to Voldemort and then wants to try and use that to learn more about him
05:16this is her this is meant to be Holly Wheeler Mike and Nancy's younger sister like I said really important character for this first block of episodes she sees what she thinks is an imaginary friend but we know is Vecna in his Henry Creel form just making himself look like his human form Henry Creel so she doesn't know that it's Vecna
05:33we eventually find out that he yoinks her and takes her inside the special wall of the upside down and says that he's going to take all of her friends save them he says I mean really take them capture them and he has room for everybody inside his mind palace inside this special wall place he's visualizing it as a regular version of his original house we've been there during season four it's all decrepit now both in the right side up and the upside down it looks like trash now
06:00later will has another vision where he actually sees them all rigged up into the tubes getting the goo put inside them just confirming the same thing that happened to him is happening to them now we also learn this is probably inside Hawkins laboratory which is in the center of where this wall is around Hawkins of the upside down then we find out that since the events of season four pretty much everybody almost everybody except for Hopper the whole Dungeons and Dragons group has been staying at Mike and Nancy's it's super crowded they played it mostly for comedy but they've all been living in this military quarantine
06:30which they then explain Robin's the new DJ her radio show is called the morning squawk which she uses to be a DJ but also to get covert information to all the different group using code there's a little bit of exposition that she gives off to just to catch people up so she says that Vecna's discharge spread through the air she calls it snowflakes but they make it sound like the entire town was infected somehow
06:53there's a reference to the metal band-aids which are basically the military just trying to cover up all the tears between dimensions which will eventually probably get worse as we get on in the episodes
07:02they refer to this main military zone with like the main portal to the upside down as the Mac Z which she calls the Big Mac for McDonald's references
07:11this is also meant to be the place that Vecna walks out of when he breaks into the right side up
07:16they go around the group to catch you up on what everybody's been doing since season four we find out that the jocks still hate Dustin because he was Eddie's friend and he's been running around in his hellfire club t-shirt this whole time like he seems like he wears it on a pretty regular basis
07:28we find out that Lucas has quit the team and seems like he's the muscle of the group standing up for him like he's grown a lot like these kids are way way older than season one
07:37it is like a night and day difference if you go back and you watch the season one episodes
07:41I've been a part of this journey for almost half of my life
07:44there's a missing poster for Eleven who's been ducking the military since season four
07:48Linda Hamilton's character named Dr. K is like the new version of Dr. Brenner
07:52she's leading the military's efforts inside the upside down in their special base to research what's happening there
07:58and she wants to use Eleven's power the same way Brenner wanted it
08:01even though they try to make her seem like she has noble intentions she is meant to be one of the antagonists of the season
08:06we also find out that other random townspeople have been helping Eleven trying to pretend to be her to misdirect the military
08:13so it's like Eleven has a lot of friends around town she's a local celebrity
08:17we see her in the middle of another Jedi training montage if we're making Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, Vecna, and Luke Skywalker 11 references
08:25trying to beef up her powers it's like Luke Skywalker and Yoda on Dagobah so like Hopper is her wise old Yoda character
08:32there are a lot of easter eggs baked into Eleven's costume too her red trunks are meant to be a Superman reference
08:37because of all the kryptonite references later
08:39her entire outfit especially the bandana is also meant to be a reference to Bran's outfit from Goonies
08:44the series has always borrowed a lot of energy from Goonies
08:47you also notice that she refers to Vecna as Henry as in Henry Creel using his full real name
08:52it'd be like calling Darth Vader Anakin Skywalker like refusing to call him Darth Vader
08:57there's references to eating all the waffles like big season 1 references and callbacks
09:02we also find out Eleven and Hopper are big Miami Vice fans
09:05kinda seems like Hopper and Joyce are her surrogate mother and father now too
09:09we find out Murray is using his truck to smuggle people, weapons, things in general, contraband, in and out of the quarantine barrier
09:16Jonathan and Steve seem like they're competing over Nancy again
09:19there are a couple of funny moments here in later episodes as well
09:21but I think they're just trying to hype up the idea that Jonathan and Nancy are still having relationship problems after the end of season 4
09:27generally I don't think that Steve is still in love with Nancy or anything like that
09:31they're just trying to tease something going on between Jonathan and Nancy
09:34eventually they'll either clear that up or they'll break up completely
09:37when Robin is telling everybody about the military's plan in their crawl that they're gonna do tonight
09:42the dungeon crawl she mentions the Wiz movie as part of the code
09:46that's not because the Wicked for Good movie came out this week at the same time
09:49that's just a coincidence just a lot of Wizard of Oz things happening right now
09:53they reveal the group has a series of tunnels running beneath the town that they used to get around
09:57and notice that they're using actual Dungeons and Dragons figures in action figures to plan with the maps
10:03so playing Dungeons and Dragons on a different level now like that's the metaphor here
10:07is that the dungeon group is playing more Dungeons and Dragons games but the stakes are real now
10:13Will then has another vision of Vecna and then eventually figures out that he's seeing through Vecna's eyes
10:18and this is Harry Potter horcrux style like the same thing happened during the Harry Potter movies
10:22where he saw what Voldemort was seeing
10:24and eventually figures out that it was Vecna peeping on Holly Wheeler before he attacked her and took her
10:30we finally touch base with Max in the hospital when Will tries to talk to her and Lucas like it's just a normal day
10:36it seems like they've been doing this on a regular basis visiting Max and just treating her like she's part of the group
10:40hey this is what happened today in the next day and the next day after that
10:44this is an actual real thing coma victims can actually hear you they can actually get sensory information
10:49it's just that they and Max consequently cannot communicate back with them
10:54Will then catching Robin with Vecna is then starting to explore his whole sexuality arc
10:58he tried to tell Mike he was gay last season without coming right out and saying it
11:02but I think that's the idea this season is they eventually want to pay off that he will come out publicly
11:08Robin's kind of the only member of the group that can give him advice about stuff like that
11:12because they use the sage voiceover from Robin when she was giving him advice about his life in general
11:18and being comfortable with himself like who he really is as he was fully coming into his actual superpowers in episode 4
11:25I think the idea is they want to show he's achieved this total self-actualization
11:29so he'll probably be more comfortable actually coming out to the group in the second block of episodes after this
11:34as he slowly learns more about his actual powers
11:37then Eleven and Mike talk about what happens to them if they're able to defeat Vecna like
11:42where is this relationship going kind of conversation
11:45and the reason why this is so ominous some of you probably picked up on this
11:48is because the minute the two characters talk about their happy ending
11:52it sounds like they are definitely never going to get it
11:55there are many many 80s references thrown around during this
11:58like Hopper calls Dustin Inspector Gadget
12:00Holly Wheeler has Care Bears Sheets
12:03just things like that all over the place because this is the middle of the 1980s when this is happening
12:07there's a little bit of them teasing Hopper and Joyce's relationship
12:10becoming a bigger thing since the events of season 4 they were reunited
12:13they're together now but they're not living together
12:16we learn more about what they've been using these mobile dishes for
12:19and they use those to stay in communication with parts of their team who are in the upside down
12:24Hopper in this instance so they can communicate as long as that portal that real big portal is open
12:29we're losing them wait what stop
12:32there are a whole lot of tears between dimensions all over the place too so that probably helps a lot
12:37when Will has his next Vecna vision Horcrux style seeing through the Demogorgon's eyes
12:42he eventually learns that he is seeing through Vecna's eyes because Vecna is controlling the Demogorgon's
12:47so he's meant to be seeing everything that Vecna sees
12:50my assumption is the reason it took out the military convoy
12:52is just because it wants to disable the military inside the upside down
12:56like Vecna just wants to keep them from finding him and doing anything about what he's doing behind that wall
13:01then sees the vision of the Demogorgon coming for Mike, Nancy, and Holly's
13:06knowing that eventually Vecna is coming for them without realizing that it's coming for Holly
13:11we learn the barrier between dimensions has gotten so weak that a Demogorgon can just rip right through it
13:16open a new portal and yoink Holly
13:18the episode 2 title is The Vanishing of Holly Wheeler
13:21which is meant to be a direct reference to the season 1 episode 1 title The Vanishing of Will Byers
13:26because basically the same thing is happening to Holly now in present day
13:30they do give Karen a big action scene like it's the final season so we're gonna give mom a big action scene
13:34as she stabs the hell out of Demogorgon with her wine bottle but it does absolutely nothing
13:38and it takes her out like she's wet tissue paper
13:41then Eleven goes to the upside down using the portal in Holly's room trying to help Hopper and find Holly
13:47when Robin and Will try to start looking for Vecna using his two-way connection
13:52there are a couple funny Easter eggs here for Joyce
13:54she calls herself the dungeon master of their dungeon crawl team because she's kind of orchestrating things
13:59she's like the point of contact for everyone but also there's some back to the future references
14:03where she's asking them about the flux capacitor like what's going on here
14:06apparently she has not seen back to the future but the other kids have
14:09probably one of these bigger moments though is when Eleven and Hopper start talking about Hopper's daughter
14:14and his traumatic memories from the military and his daughter's death
14:17he's mentioned them briefly but we haven't got a ton of flashbacks to his daughter until now
14:23mostly they're using these to show you how his arc has brought him full circle now
14:27and how much he's grown as a person since his daughter died
14:30we learn a little bit about the flesh wall that's around Hawkins inside the upside down
14:36the center of it winds up being Hawkins laboratory which is a big call back to the beginning
14:40like all this is tying back to the beginning of the series
14:43so bringing it around full circle again
14:45at the end of this episode we get the full reveal that Holly's imaginary friend is really Vecna
14:50it's Henry Creel in human form and he's been using his mind palace
14:54these are all memories of his that he's trapped her inside
14:56but she's really inside the flesh wall plugged into one of these tubes
15:00like all the other kids he's been stealing
15:02like he did to Will at the beginning of season 1 episode 1
15:05with him saying that he's going to bring all the other kids here
15:08he's going to do the same thing to all them and eventually her family too
15:11so basically he just eventually wants to plug everybody into these special tubes
15:15the episode 3 title was the Turnbow trap which is reference to the team's plan to capture Derek Turnbow, Holly's bully
15:21and try to save him from Vecna and use him to save the other kids
15:25because he is the next target
15:27and then the next kids after that
15:29there are couple interesting moments here too that you probably picked up on
15:32when Holly is eating breakfast inside Vecna's mind space here inside his house
15:36the breakfast she's actually ingesting is probably the goo with the tubes that Will had inside his mouth
15:42during season 1 episode 1
15:44there's a lot of talk about him making her favorite breakfast her favorite foods
15:48really it's just more goo coming through the tubes
15:51when he makes her promise not to go into the woods
15:53it's because he knows that Max is out there
15:55also this ties into one of his scary memories that he's too afraid of
15:59inside the actual cliffs where she's been hiding in those caves
16:03he was scared more than scared he was terrified
16:08we will get to that in a second too because it just explains what's been happening with Max since season 4
16:13we actually find out that the thing that's watching her from inside the woods is Max herself
16:18when we go back to the radio tower and meet up with the kids
16:21they mention Batman and the Bat-Signal
16:23they're referencing the Adam West Batman
16:25because remember this is the 1980s
16:27so Michael Keaton's Batman movie has not been released yet because that's very late 80s
16:31the Adam West TV show and the Adam West Batman movie would be like the most recent thing that they'd be thinking of
16:36they then use the Dungeons and Dragons figures again to plan their kidnapping of Derek
16:41it's really elaborate too
16:43we get a little montage inside Vecna's Mindspace house
16:46and remember this is meant to be his memory which is why everything looks like it's from the 1950s
16:50I can't quite tell which movie she's watching in black and white here
16:53let me know if you think you know what this is
16:55these clothes were meant to belong to Henry's sisters
16:58like the whole house is just full of stuff that they originally owned because it's his memory
17:02we actually see a picture of him in his boy scout uniform with his family
17:07some of you also probably picked up on the coding here too
17:10when she puts the blue dress on it makes her look a little bit like Alice in Wonderland
17:13like she's gone down the rabbit hole she's followed the Vecna rabbit into Wonderland
17:17they use the Tiffany song I think we're alone now to set up the max reveal because she is not alone in here
17:23and when she puts the red boy scout scarf on it gives red riding hood vibes with Vecna's big bad wolf
17:29also the idea of her traveling through the woods seems like it's right out of the red riding hood story
17:33with the big twist that it wasn't Vecna who actually wrote the note it wasn't Henry
17:37it was Max who left it for her
17:40Max is technically the big bad wolf the big bad Max
17:43so the way that Max explains everything to Holly
17:46the cave that she's been hiding in living in all these months like a little Obi-Wan Kenobi cave here
17:50Vecna has been afraid of my theory here is because this is tied to the original event that they deal with
17:56during the Stranger Things first shadow play where he was trapped in Dimension X for 12 hours
18:00then returned with his powers under the heavy influence of the mind flayer
18:04theoretically that would be the event that he is most afraid of like his origin story event
18:08the thing that was most terrifying to him
18:10so that is why he's been afraid to come into the caves to take Max
18:14she explains how they're technically living inside Vecna's childhood memories
18:18and it's like different worlds of different memories that she just jumps through
18:22and she's been trying to find her way back home
18:24and she had to travel back through all of her worst memories all these past months
18:28and almost wound up escaping because of the Kate Bush music
18:32she's been running up that hill for the last couple of months
18:34she was almost able to escape to the final portal which was in the memory of when Vecna initially took her
18:40and almost killed her
18:42their little hand wavy with the way this works like it's very connected to the Kate Bush music
18:46in the minute that Lucas turns it off like he turns it off too soon it closes the portal for her
18:50so apparently her making it out of the coma is directly tied to the Kate Bush music
18:55so that is all he needs to do just blast that Kate Bush music again
18:58there are a lot of references that Holly makes here too because of the Wrinkle in Time story
19:02and the way she likens it to the IT entity
19:05the mind space the evil world that IT rules during that story
19:09it's not meant to be the same Pennywise IT from the Stephen King story
19:12because that'd be copyright infringement
19:14there's another IT entity like a psychic entity that rules an evil world in the world of A Wrinkle in Time
19:21and it kind of sounds like the way the Mind Flayer works
19:24during Erica's class Mr. Clark teaches a lesson on wormholes Einstein Rosen bridges
19:29the same types of portals that Thor opens with the Bifrost in the Marvel movies
19:33they use this to dig in deeper to the idea of the tears between dimensions the upside down
19:38how Vecna gets into the main dimension how the military brings its stuff into the upside down
19:43how the Demogorgons are breaking in and out of both dimensions
19:46he also kind of teases that we might see some time travel this season where he's like imagine traveling to another dimension
19:51or another time maybe that will become a really big thing
19:54but I also think that's meant to set up the whole Max reveal of the different mind spaces of Henry's memories
20:00so technically they are jumping into the past but it's meant to be a memory of the past that they're jumping into
20:05not the actual past like it's not actual time travel
20:08like how crazy are you gonna get with this last season Duffer Brothers
20:12another galaxy another time even
20:15the other big thing that he teases here is that the portals themselves are extremely unstable
20:21so I think they're gonna use that in the future as well too
20:24we also see in the trailers some of them opening and closing a little bit randomly
20:28all this is also to set up the idea that Lucas's sister Erica is like a special kind of nerd
20:33who makes fun of others for being a nerd all the time
20:35like she makes fun of Lucas and the kids all the time
20:37but she herself is a huge nerd
20:40right before it starts getting really crazy there are a couple big moments of humor too
20:43like a couple of jokes that you probably noticed
20:45Will for instance makes fun of his bowl cut
20:47which has been weird and out of place for many seasons now
20:51like people have been making fun of this for a long time
20:53like how long are you gonna make this kid wear this terrible haircut
20:56then we learned that Jonathan is planning on proposing to Nancy
20:59which right now seems like an absolutely terrible time to do it
21:02probably will not go well for him
21:04remember we talked about Eleven and Mike talking about the future of their relationship
21:07like what happens if we defeat Vecna
21:09that's probably the worst conversation you can have before a big fight like this
21:13when Hopper interrogates the military officer in the Upside Down
21:17he makes a bunch of Apocalypse Now references
21:19he mentions his time in the Vietnam War
21:21making necklaces out of ears
21:23that's a Marlon Brando Kurtz character reference
21:25also maybe Universal Soldier
21:27which is technically a 90s movie
21:29because Dolph Lundgren's character also does something like that
21:31to just really horrific stuff
21:33then Eleven travels into her mind space again
21:35to yoink more information from his brain
21:37about Dr. K Linda Hamilton's character
21:39in their base in the Upside Down
21:41this is actually similar to what we're seeing on Welcome to Derry
21:44with Halloran's shining ability
21:45using it on people to rip information out of their minds
21:48really just a coincidence that two different series
21:51are using the similar types of tropes at the same time
21:53like the Stranger Things people of the Duffer Brothers
21:55didn't plan on the Welcome to Derry stuff
21:57and the shining stuff happening around the same period
21:59then the reason that Eleven can't get past the door here
22:02is one because the soldier doesn't know anything about what's behind here
22:06like he's telling the truth there
22:07but also because her sister Kali is keeping her out
22:10they finally paying off her sister
22:12we haven't heard anything about her since season 2
22:14and boom she's back
22:15the actress was also at the premiere
22:17so there are just a lot of theories
22:18that they were actually going to be bringing her back this season
22:21Eleven also makes the Superman reference
22:23talking about Kryptonite
22:24her Kryptonite is someone else with the same powers
22:27who can block her which is her sister
22:29when we go back to Derek's house
22:30the Nintendo game that he's playing
22:32I think is meant to be Wizards and Warriors
22:34which is another callback to Holly's figure
22:36that Mike gave her Dungeons and Dragons
22:38so many Dungeons and Dragons references and callbacks during the episodes
22:42if you pause the frame and just look around his bedroom
22:45there are so many 80s references here to toys, food, games, everything
22:50I think the idea is that his father is meant to be very wealthy
22:52which is how he has some of this stuff
22:54for instance, ton of GI Joe stuff
22:56garbage bail kids
22:57he has multiple gumball machines
22:59he's got a full size arcade
23:00which would have been extremely expensive back in the day
23:03there's a Pee Wee's Big Adventure movie poster
23:05because that movie came out recently
23:07and he's even got a Tommy Omnibot
23:09and those were also crazy expensive at the time
23:12let me know if you actually had one of those back in the day
23:14those are real big collector's items now present day
23:17there's a whole joke about Erica knocking everybody out with the pie
23:20in the montage of them going full home alone
23:22setting all the traps around the house to try and capture the Demogorgon
23:26you also notice how easily the Demogorgon rips open multiple portals here
23:30like it's no big deal like just tissue paper just walking between dimensions
23:34all the Demogorgon's have the ability to do this
23:37then the episode 4 title is sorcerer
23:39which is a reference to will when Mike calls him a sorcerer
23:42because of the way his powers work innately
23:44and he theoretically has control over the hive Demogorgon's Demo dogs Demo bats
23:48just like Vecna's powers work that he then pays off at the end of the episode
23:52when he fully taps into embraces his power
23:55we will get into this because it's another big Harry Potter Voldemort callback
23:59with the Horcrux and the way that Harry Potter's powers are connected to Voldemort's powers
24:03basically the idea that Vecna created his own worst enemy when he marked him
24:08the same way that Voldemort gave Harry Potter extra powers when he tried to kill him and failed
24:14there's a reason Harry can speak with snakes
24:17there's a reason he can look into Lord Voldemort's mind
24:20part of the irony the payoff with both the Harry Potter story and with probably the Stranger Things story
24:26is that Vecna would had a much easier time winning had he not marked Will like this
24:31it would basically be like giving your enemy a nuclear weapon
24:34a nuclear weapon that could control your entire army with the exact same powers that you have
24:38Will's powers are meant to be the exact same powers that Vecna has
24:42you also notice that when he's using his powers like when he fully taps into them
24:46his eyes go white so that's how they're visualizing it
24:48but he also gets the same nosebleeds that Eleven gets
24:52so their powers are meant to be similar because Eleven got her powers through a blood transfusion
24:56that her mother got from Vecna
24:58so everybody in the normal dimension that does have powers initially got them from Vecna
25:03the whole idea is them explaining in probably the second batch of episodes
25:06how Vecna got his powers initially too in Dimension X with the Stranger Things foreshadow play
25:12previously the Duffers have said that that play is meant to be canon
25:15but we will see how they actually tie that into the season like how much of it's canon
25:20at the beginning of the episode Will also has another Vecna vision of all the kids
25:24including Holly hooked up to those saming tubes with the goo that Vecna plugged him into as well
25:28just confirming all of our theories like oh he's gonna plug everybody into the goo
25:32one of the other kids in town is watching Disney's Sword in the Stone movie
25:36it's a classic if you haven't seen it definitely watch it is also meant to flow with the theme of Will becoming the sorcerer by the end of the episode
25:43the whole reason the military is going around collecting kids is because Dr. K, Linda Hamilton's character
25:48thinks that it'll be an easy way to trap Eleven because Eleven is also going after the kids
25:53she doesn't fully explain it to Eleven in this episode but she's been looking for her for a long time and has Kali
25:58so I think the idea is that she wants to combine both of their powers and use them to stop whatever's happening inside the upside down with Vecna
26:05like overpower him with multiple superpower people but also now we have a third because we have Will as well too
26:12who's just as powerful as Vecna
26:14there's gonna be a lot of questions about this after this fourth episode
26:17who is the most powerful person on the show now is it Eleven or is it Will?
26:21we have seen Eleven do some really powerful stuff before but we haven't seen her stop all the demogorgons and control the army psychically
26:28in the same way that Will does during this episode
26:31so everybody let me know in the comments who do you think is more powerful now Will or Eleven?
26:36Dustin discovers the center of the flesh wall is the Hawkins lab which is also probably the same place where Vecna has all the kids plugged into all the goo
26:43meaning that that'll be one of the places they're trying to get to in the second batch of episodes
26:48Hopper and Eleven start wasting the military goons inside the lab here like this is the first episodes where people really start dropping bodies
26:54but it's mostly just military stooges that wind up eating it
26:58we learned that Vecna's tentacles here these creations are weak to heat and stronger in the cold
27:02this will be important for later because remember they still need to break through the flesh wall
27:06so it'll probably require some really wicked heat
27:09then they try to mislead you making you think that Hopper's gonna sacrifice himself again to save Eleven
27:14he calls her Jane her real name and we get another flashback to his daughter and then the big reveal of Kali
27:19I love the way they paid this off to where he walks through the door like oh no I'm fine
27:23I didn't sacrifice myself because check out over here it's your sister
27:27generally just seems like they've had her here for the past couple of months since Dr. K took over
27:31but she could have been here even longer
27:33then as everybody circles up at the quarantine area the Big Mac area
27:37RIP to all these military goons because Will has another Vecna vision
27:41and boom all the Demogorgans start busting through all the portals in all these military people are dead
27:47portals start opening up all over town basically the upside down merging with the normal dimension slowly
27:52that seems to be the ultimate long-term goal here at the end of the episode
27:56when Vecna goes back into the upside down he makes it seem like he wants everything to be like the upside down
28:02like some stuff belongs in here but it also seems like he wants to absorb the main dimension eventually too
28:07you also notice that Will is so connected to the hive mind that he feels the same pain that the Demogorgans feel
28:13when the military burns them which is why he's writhing screaming on the ground
28:17Vecna finally enters through the portal and wastes everybody else using his telekinesis and a bunch of different powers
28:23couple cool takedowns here too like him using telekinesis to rip all the grenade pins out
28:28then another brand new power he goes full Night King Game of Thrones
28:32when he resurrects all the Demogorgans and they start fighting again
28:36I think that's the comp that they're going for here like they want this to feel like Night King in Game of Thrones
28:40I guess you could think of the Demogorgans as being kind of like the White Walkers
28:47what will be interesting to see in the second batch of episodes is if Eleven and Kali try to combine their powers with Will
28:53to team up against Vecna we will see what winds up happening there
28:57generally the big mission of the second block of episodes is them saving all the kids in the Hawkins laboratory
29:03I think that's the place where they're like the center of where all this is happening where Vecna is doing inside Hawkins lab
29:08in the upside down we will also probably get a couple more montages of Will trying to train his powers up
29:14the same way Eleven was trying to do at the beginning of this episode
29:17probably the biggest payoff here though is the long running fan theory that Will Byers had powers
29:22people had this theory after he showed up again during season one like when he came back people were like
29:27what is Will has powers now that he came back from the upside down
29:30now they're finally answering the question yes Will definitely has powers
29:33there's so much happening during this first block of episodes
29:36if there's any easter eggs or references that you spotted that I didn't talk about in the video
