00:07After lots of healing and growing, I finally have the confidence I lost so long ago

00:12to give you a real look inside what it was like being Ryan Lochte.

00:17I went from a single guy who only cared about surfing and hanging out with his friends and family

00:23who had barely kissed a girl until I was in college.

00:27I know.

00:27Now, to becoming one of the world's most eligible bachelors,

00:32the parties, the glam, the celebrities, the life most people couldn't fathom.

00:37I was on top of the world.

00:39And in an instant, I became the most hated person in the world.

00:44After the Rio scandal, I found myself at the lowest point

00:47with a son on the way with someone I barely knew,

00:51someone who told me I wasn't strong enough, man enough, or just not enough.

00:58I couldn't believe what my life was.

01:01had become.

01:03I really couldn't.

01:05I was depressed to my core, turning to alcohol, drugs, and sleep.

01:09Oh, the amount of sleep.

01:12Every day, I woke up to be belittled and reminded of my constant failures.

01:17Day in, day out, until I was eventually kicked out of my family home.

01:21When someone is telling you that you're a loser, you honestly start to believe it.

01:26The light in my eyes was gone.

01:29And if it wasn't for so many of you to see the drastic change in me the last couple of months,

01:35I couldn't, I wouldn't have realized and been able to reflect on how deep my depression had gotten.

01:42I feel so relieved and just like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

01:46I found my voice and confidence again.

01:50My mojo.

01:52I am surrounded by positive influences in my life.

01:55I have rekindled with my mom, who had been out of my life for so long.

01:59She just met my children a couple months ago, and I'm so thankful she's in our lives now.

02:05I'm now embracing the life that God has always planned for me, and I always dreamed of.

02:11My kids are seeing their dad happy and at peace in my home,

02:14something they didn't see before.

02:17I'm determined to not let them or anyone down again.
