01:22and also the security and the know-how about how to do things demand is so strong that defense
01:29experts have hit back-to-back record highs keeping jobs and research thriving across the country
01:37bottom line the world still wants what israel creates our ideas our innovation our resilience
01:46the government covered housing food and living support for tens of thousands placing evacuees
01:53in hotels and temporary homes across this country volunteers and aid organizations stepped in together
01:59with groups like meir panim which served millions of hot meals delivered food cards and meals on wheels
02:08to elderly and to homebound and open community centers to offer comfort and dignity through all the chaos
02:17and the pain israel proved once again that its true strength isn't only military or economic it's moral
02:25a nation built on biblical values caring for one another even in the hardest of time
02:38today we're heading to meir panim in or akiva it's in israeli city about 30 kilometers north of tel aviv
02:44on israel's central coast for the past two years this area like the rest of israel lived under constant
02:52threat of missile attacks from iran from hezbollah in lebanon and even from the khutis in yemen
02:59or akiva wasn't evacuated but that doesn't mean that life went on as usual
03:05there were weeks on end when children couldn't go to school streets stood empty and families lost jobs and businesses
03:14daily life across this country was shaken by this long walk and yet even through all of this meir panim
03:23never stopped working today we're visiting their center here in or akiva to see how they continue to feed
03:31feed support and care for people in need bringing warmth and dignity to thousands
03:44so here we are at the meir panim in or akiva this is a place that not only turns compassion into action
03:52but also offers community dignity and kindness to those who need it most
03:58hey good morning good morning welcome to mayor panim or akiva great to be here looks like it's very
04:05busy in the morning every day is busy and every morning but today is very extra special because we
04:10have our free shook and we have produce being delivered to give to hundreds of people to help
04:15them make ends meet so this is the free shook so you have vegetables you have a fresh produce to be delivered
04:22to people that are already lining up here behind me that's right that's right people both come and
04:26people have delivered home both fresh produce products there's fish today tea team anything that
04:33someone would need to fill their home so that they could take care of themselves so we came here to
04:37help yeah so how can i get involved we're going to put you to work we're going to go into the kitchen let's go

05:05tell us what what's happening here so in addition to the fresh fruits and vegetables and the produce
05:10that our patrons will receive today every day in mayor panim or akiva we have hot beautiful cooked
05:15meals to give out so today our team of staff and volunteers are working on meatballs yet here we're
05:20gonna get you busy today sure and it's incredible the work that happens every single day is because
05:28of people that want to give a helping hand to those in need and today you're a part of our mayor panning
05:35family okay so can you introduce the people here who's who's the big boss in this place elanid is the
05:53heart and soul and the boss of mayor panim or akiva she is our branch manager she is our only branch
06:00manager she opened the branch 15 years ago this is her second home and we're here joined by
06:05incredible volunteers as well safta malka is her second in command she volunteers with us every
06:11single day she's a holocaust survivor she's a safta she's a great grandmother but she prioritizes
06:18giving to others every single day starting her day here with us thank you so much this was my i mean
06:26most exciting meeting of the day so far with safta malka she's 83 years old she's a holocaust survivor
06:33and she comes here every day at 4 a.m to prepare meals for those in need in israel she believes that
06:40helping others is what helps you the most to be a community here in israel and support each other
06:46so guys this is maybe panim okay so we've been partnering with this organization for i would say
06:52close to maybe six months or going towards our first year together and we're really really excited
06:59to come here boots on the ground style and show you what really is happening that the support that
07:05you are giving the people of israel really reach those in need that are standing here outside 1000
07:12meals every day feeding those in israel that need the help those that you don't hear about most of the
07:19times so thank you so much and let's get back to making some more kebab
07:31so you have to hear and understand what she just told me now okay so delivering the food is not a good
07:38experience for somebody that has nothing to eat but the important thing and she made sure that i did it
07:44right is to say good morning we are very happy to see you today with a smile so that these people can
07:52go home happy with you know a great start of their day not just feeling the need to receive food and then
07:58go eat it okay it's all about personal relationship between one another yo exactly when you see the work
08:07happening here at meir panim you realize that this isn't just charity it's family every meal served
08:14every smile restored every person how it israelis taking care of israeli but they cannot do this alone
08:24so meir panim depends on people like you people who believe that compassion is stronger than fear

09:33is essentially a food bank but it's not it's way more than a food bank it's a community um and why
09:43it's because of this amazing person over there and her name is elanit and because of her this place
09:52runs as a community she's a magician she's an amazing character she does everything with love and respect
10:02and you can't ask for more what i love about coming to see these organizations that we are partnering with in real life
10:09is that we realize it's not like a corporate organization that's making the good deeds and helping people
10:15it's basically people helping people and people with huge hearts huge huge huge huge hearts yeah
10:22you're one of them thank you if you can um help our viewers to know how to pray for easel or how to
10:29support easel in this time what would it be dare say it but of course money helps yeah
10:36okay so what's this room so this is our mayor panim warehouse and this is where we store pantry
10:50safe products where we can help our patrons get a head start give them shelf stable items to get ready
10:57for the winter and to be able to take care of themselves at home independently cool and i see that
11:02you have also stuff that are not food like blankets for winter and sheets for the bed that's right mayor
11:09panim is so much more than a food pantry and because of elani's efforts to secure donations anywhere she
11:15can we're able to take care of our community as we get ready for winter the weather's cold israeli
11:20homes get very chilly and so we're every winter giving out blankets heaters scarves coats whatever a
11:28family in need would otherwise be able to go to the store and buy they're getting here from mayor panim
11:33and through elani's kindness i see in the corner some military equipment can you share what's all
11:39about and where is this going yes absolutely so even though we're in a period of ceasefire we still
11:46have a hundred thousand reserves troops and it is mayor panim's duty and responsibility to take care of
11:52them as we would for anyone else so this is a beginning of a medical kit where we'll be filled
11:58with all kinds of emergency first aid this is a jacket it's about to get cold it's already cold up
12:03north and included in every kit is not only the medical essentials and jackets but also prayer books
12:10because we want them to feel not only fulfilled in their minds but also in their hearts amazing so
12:16this is the book of psalms and it stays here with the help of the lord together we will win
12:28so mimi let's summarize what we saw today so i'm so glad you were able to join us for a full day
12:34at mayor panim orekiba and we packed food we cooked food we packed good food we've met a lot of incredible
12:42people we met people that were receiving people that were giving and this kind of magic happens

12:58think that the thing that touched me the most was first of all the 83 year old holocaust survivor that

13:19to overcome the challenges that are ahead of us and it encourages me that we are standing to help the
13:26weak together because this is the way that we can secure our future for generations to come so thank you
